so it seems there hasn't been a general chat for gta 5. i figured i may as well start it now. better late than never.

 

since we are in an info drought for gta 6 information. i spent some time today looking at all the things i haven't done in gta 5 yet. i have never 100% it before. even though I've been playing since day 1 in 2013. I'm just not a big 100 percenter guy. i just play the game for fun and do what i enjoy. but i have been thinking about getting it done before gta 6 comes out. just to kill time until we finally get it. my last save on my permanent save file was in early 2018. i was so surprised to see that the last time i did anything on that file was pre covid. I'm currently 81% on that save. it's surprising that there is still a decent chunk of stuff i haven't done yet. I'm happy that i still have stuff to do. some people want to 100% the game asap. and that might be good for them. but then you would probably get bored with the game pretty quickly. of course back then nobody would have thought that it would be over 11 years until the next gta game. so I'm pretty happy that I've saved all this stuff. i still have two stranger missions to do. omega and the last one. it almost feels like i have a whole dlc of stuff I've never touched.

 

here is a side question. is there any way to buy the golf course without the assassination missions? i did them a long time ago and i didn't know about the stock market trick. so is there any way to get enough money to buy it? i know i could start a new save. but i would prefer to have it on my original save. if not then there should be more than one way to get the money to buy it. I'm guessing a lot of people didn't know about the stock market trick at first. so what are we supposed to do? rob a billion 24/7s? either give us more ways to make that money. or lower the price of the golf course.

Long overdue topic. 

I'm that rare specimen who still hasn't played GTA V. Maybe a RAM upgrade will do the trick...I really want to get started in LS sooner than later

You don't need to own the golf club for 100% you just need to own 5 business properties.

You do have to play golf for 100%, not sure about required score. (I played golf as Trevor, because he had the highest strength, and got a point or so better than par)

Regular money making opportunities in GTA V are quite limited, and I'm afraid the quickest way to make 150 million is really to restart the game from a point where you had not done the assassinations.

The story isn't that long anyway, compared to finishing the rest of the 100% (collectibles, races that can only be started at certain times, remembering to call Tonya for the towing missions (Franklin), they don't show up on the map)

 

Do you keep old saves, or just one? You get plenty of slots, so I have used a new slot every time I had to choose heist crew or approaches, in case I want to do a heist with crew members that are not available in mission replay, or I want to play the preps for the approach I didn't do on my playthrough.

i know that i don't HAVE to own the golf course. but i thought it would be nice to have. and i would have liked to have it on my original save file. yes i do use other save files. but mostly just for replaying the story. I'm just sentimental for my original save file from a decade ago.

so i was doing the triathlons for the first time. the first two were fine. but the third one is so ridiculously stupid. wtf did i play? 30 minutes of tapping x and pushing the left joystick forward. i kept thinking okay is this where i get off the bike? is this when i stop swimming? nope it never did. that should never take so long. who at rockstar thought 30 minutes of that belongs in the game? i used to think the fishing in rdr2 was time consuming. but then i learned you can just hold square to reel in. but with this triathlon there is no shortcut. i wouldn't mind if triathlons will be in gta 6. but there better not be any that is this long.

I have a save file where it says inb the stats meni that I killed like 25k people as Trevor, I've been playing on and off on it for 3-4 years now, I guess I really getting into fights with the cops. What are you guys' kill stats looking like?

Over the years I've went on rampages less in GTA games than I did before, the only exception is GTAOnline.

I checked and on my last playthrough of GTAV (last year). I killed 6k people as Trevor, 3k as Franklin and almost 5k as Michael.  By comparison,  I got 243k kills for Online.

So I've been replaying the story and I swear I'm having a mandala effect. So in the mission friends reunited, when trevor and Michael chase lazlow down the ls River, I swear on the original 360 version when Trevor's ranting about lazlow Michael responds hes never heard of him, but I've never heard it on the updated ps4 and ps5 versions, it has been 10 years since I played the 360 version so my memory could be wrong. Could anyone confirm?

Today I learned that if you jump a car into one of the empty container well cars on the train you can increase your distance travelled stat by just sitting there.

This video below is from the PC version in 2016.

 

At about 25 minutes in, you can hear the bit where Michael says he's never seen Lazlow before.

 

Not sure why you didn't hear it though.

Might have to check the mission myself on pc to see if the dialogue is still there.

Freakin Hao's stranger mission man. The first time I drove to that question mark, it disappeared when I reached there and I wondered if I imagined it. But no, once I exit the area, the comes back again, only to disappear when I go back to it. Again and again

 

Eventually I did get to Hao, but I couldn't win that first race without spamming F's special ability lol. 

 

They made the strip club into a minigame rather than just the lapdance of previous games, what with the whole increase her happiness when the bouncer isn't watching

When does Talianas event spawn? I read it was after jewel store job but I can't seem to find her at the event location at all, no matter how many times I go up and down that road to Paleto Bay

General chat for my favorite entry in the entire franchise that's been having an absolutely horrendous reputation since its 10th anniversary? Hell yes.

My thumb never felt the same ever again. But the Triathlons overall were always really fun to me.

Man, I can't believe I ignored the normal Machine Gun (PKM) for almost 12 years, just because it has a lower accuracy and a lower fire rate, but this is exactly what makes it more realistic than the Combat Machine Gun.

 

This gun is so f*cking fun to use in Story Mode, I'm having a blast fighting the cops with it.

I liked this game even before I got to play it and now that I have....it's fantastic The city, the dialogue, the characters, the missions so far, the soundtrack...I like it all. The cover system sucks though.

I like the slide animation when taking cover in IV. I have no idea if V have this because I rarely use the cover mechanic while running

Nah, it didn't come back unfortunately. The protags just quickly crawl down in order to avoid bullets hitting them.

 

I really like it personally. Much more polished and responsive than IV's even if it tends to freak out at times..

I too like the quick sprint to cover, the slide looks goofy.

I am not sure if IV has this, but if you are taking cover on a door and you double press the cover input your character will switch sides.

Climbing Mount Chiliad felt cool, reminded me of the woah moment I had climbing the GTA SA version back in the day. I read that sometimes you can see hikers climbing too. Though who's charging you one dollar for that peak view bro

Seeing the wildlife, offroad convertibles and hikers while exploring the dense forest and mountains always felt so good in this game. It always figures out an excuse to suddenly make you go "Wow".

I think another factor to what makes it such a satisfying experience is the game's sound design. People do not talk enough about this game's sound design, and I don't mean JUST the original soundtrack it came with, although even that is amazing in of itself.
