Is the mission "Luigi's Girls" a mockery of nintendo?

I had a dream recently based on this, so I decided to make this thread. I think the GTA III mission "Luigi's Girls" may be making fun of Nintendo.

1. Mission character is "Luigi" obviously a Nintendo character
2. Mission involves you picking up girls, similar to how you pick up Peach in Mario
3. Characters are all Italian
4. Name of the prostitute is Misty and she has short red hair, similar to the character from the Pokemon anime
5. Salvatore has a moustache just like Mario

Since GTA games often make fun of traditional video games such as Nintendo, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a slight jab towards Nintendo at that time.

They also all have arms and legs just like various Nintendo characters.

 

Some peds wear red caps, referencing Ash from Pokemon.

 

In The Exchange, Claude is essentially Mario on his way to rescue Maria (Princess Peach). However, when he arrives at the mansion, Maria is moved to another "castle" so Claude has to go there and rescue her and kill Catalina (Bowser) whose helicopter drops explosives, just like Bowser's fireballs.

WTF? I swore I had a dream where I thought this up. I sometimes have dreams of things I heard years before. Since I posted in this thread, I'm guessing that's what happened. I swear though, I did not mean to copy this theory.

Happened to me before!

 

Also, I was walking with a friend by a small river once, and I said: "It is such a long way to the nearest bridge, there was an old steel bridge on Facebook for only £5000, would be nice to buy it and put it there". And she said: "You told me the exact same thing the last time we were here". Embarassing!
