Do you ever wish if only more art existed for these games?

Role-Play Walkthrough

I often find myself wishing this a whole  lot. For example if we turn our hearts back in time to the late nineteen nineties and picture the 2D universe  games like The Grand Theft Auto, The Grand Theft Auto London nineteen sixty nine. And gta2 too. We end up looking back at a number of games for which a plethora more of art would serve us well.

picture a painting large and high res and super duper detailed, documenting Travis from the first game, with brown corduroy pants, a military jacket and brown Mohawk like Travis bickle, with a slightly unhinged face maybe grinning, while he fires his mp5 into the gang members in the alley from gangsta bang phone 3, after tailing the lawyer. The shell casings flying, the blood pouring, and the background resembling 90s New York, etc. with little details like the blue db7 ETCETERA for the real fans.

stuff like that would be so amazing to see, since that original trilogy requires so much imagination to be used, how cool would it be to see these action packed crime thriller scenes brought to life with high level HD detail?

we’ve seen similar things, like I remember seeing a fully animated short film about operation intrude from the original 8bit MSX metal gear 1987 game. It was 8 bit so similarly it required imagination to really get sucked in (which wasn’t hard as it was awesome). But I wish we had this for the classic GTA.

I DONT Have the skill to make it myself, and I’ve tried the latest AI devices but they just don’t seem to understand my prompts. How could we as a community TRULY make this happen, together as a team?

I’m sure you can be abstract enough to argue that the game itself is art in and of itself so any 2D art would be redundant when there’s already a piece of art you can interact with.

Never realised you had hippie tendencies.

There are good enough artists out there that have the talent to replicate other artists styles.

If you find someone with a similar art style to that of Stephen Bliss for example, you should be able to commission some fan art.

AI sucks and even if it managed to do a perfect job at replicating the style, it is soulless.

(I took too long to realize this is about Classic GTA, my point still stands).

Yeah having scenes from the classic GTAs recreated with the style and detail of the GTA IV and V artworks is exactly what I’m talking about I think that would be awesome

TBH: any fanart trying to replicate the GTA artstyle just doesn't always come out looking good. They're either somewhat passable at best or really scuffed at worst. I'd prefer if the artist drew in their own artstyle instead of trying to replicate an already existing one. Patrick Brown is a great example of this:

Man Patrick Brown's the goat. Never knew he did new GTA 6 fanart I thought he stopped posting art years ago.

Agree the old GTAs needed a bit more artworks, more so the first ones as you said, but probably the reason was because of time needed (the old ones were developed for 1-2 years or something right? They only had 1 or up to 3 artists only and it takes a lot of time if the artist has other projects that could be one of the reasons, other could be maybe they thought they didn't need more than what they got, who knows. We still have a good number of them.)

Still, more characters could've been included that weren't anywhere, or yeah mission scenes perhaps with their style which even GTA IV/V don't exactly have (looking at San Andreas there's a lot of unique ones you can do, like Vertical Bird, Black Project, Burning Desire, Green Sabre etc..so many ideas for artworks. I don't think they need GTA IV/V's details when it comes to the characters but maybe just more detail to the backgrounds perhaps? The styles each game had seemed fine to me, except maybe for GTA1 and GTA2? But well that one was also unique I think just most don't like it I assume. I'll try to make some if I have the time with my style one day (hand-drawn/black&white), no clue how to do digital art/color though..and not that skilled so won't be anything that good.

Yeah, I do. I also wish they touched up on some of their less accurate artworks as time moved on. Almost none of the GTA III artworks resemble their characters. OG Loc's and Sonny's artworks are also terribly off. I wish they came back to those and gave us fresh ones in the same style that are more accurate.

What I would like is for the official but less known artworks to be made publicly available and in full-size. There are some obscure artworks from past GTA games like IV or even V that are yet to be properly shown to everyone in good quality. It's a shame really because R* never miss when it comes to their artworks, and making them really small for fan sites or Social Club, or only showing them during some kind of limited event that happened years ago is a really strange decision in my opinion. There are even artworks that can only be found in the artist's portfolio.

I agree with you on that. I adore the effort that goes into making the art to which I've been trying to replicate the style through editing stuff together on GIMP. Here's one of them through vectoring artwork to put it together through layers. Hope this isn't an issue to be shown.

Artwork for the SA radio DJ's (more specifically, Sage) would've been nice to have. Can't think of much else.

Xygeus Morrowind made this and I think you might be pleased to see this.

Used to have his GTA IV Tribute artwork as my wallpaper. Good to see he's still making GTA art.
