Luis Vercetti
For some this question may not even make sense so I will explain directly, what is the GTA community most interested in right now? Gta online? Waiting for GTA 6 or revisiting older games? I noticed that video content especially on YouTube has declined a lot since 2020 for GTA. I remember when gta comparison videos were fresh and new but I don't see anything that's "popping" now in 2024. Are we at such a stand still because of how long GTA 6 is taking? Prasdana21
I know this wouldn't answer your question directly but I could only speak for myself. What interested me about GTA are the characters and stories. Missions are also fun too of course (well, there are of course "less fun" missions but I disgrees, lol). In the "spare time", I do like to have a shoutout against the Polices/a gang. I'm personally not a fan of GTA Online. That's cool if others enjoys it. I believe after everything I said, revisiting older games are my best option which I do it sometimes or even just watching some videos from the older GTA games on Youtube. Of course I'm also waiting for GTA VI but it's still not coming out yet, so my answer of what interested me the most about GTA right now is revisiting older games. I still see a lot of GTA related videos appearing that hasn't stopped, youtube, instagram, twitter, reddit etc, I didn't notice a difference. For example recently we had the big GTA TDE update and with that more videos appeared, mostly comparisons again but..you know some point what even is there left to compare much? The GTA community is everywhere, and people have different opinions which games they like (or even have played), not all have the same. Some like the older GTAs more and that's what they only play, they are modding those etc, others are with GTA IV more, others with GTA Online and would want that to continue even after GTA VI for a long time. Some are everywhere and like/played all of them, and also wait for the next one. If you mean by most activity in GTAForums, more interest, from what I have seen here it's between GTA VI and GTA Online, then it is the modding section, which makes sense. Though yes It's also a bit sleeping as a whole if you mean by activity overall here until GTA VI year comes, maybe 2025 will be that year, but I still see GTA content everywhere most of the time outside, it's a big community. The feeling is in a state between "GTA Online" and "Waiting for VI", this is mostly what generates discussions here on this forum and what is mostly covered by content creators. Interest in GTA Online is normally slowing down, but there are still plenty of people playing it and the few updates that Rockstar pushes receive their decent dose of attention. Revisiting older games is something that generally receives spikes when a new release or update is dropped, recently there's been a bit more focus towards RDR1 and Trilogy respectively for the PC release and the DE update. Other than that, I don't see a lot of people talking or making videos about GTA IV or 3D era games. I personally plan to do another full 100% playthrough of all games, because: - SilentPatch has received a new big update and it's now open source, plus it's been a while since the last time I've played the originals modded on PC - For LCS and VCS I want to experiment a bit with emulators and mods / patches that I've never really tried in depth - GTA IV FusionFix developments are nothing other than incredible and at every new update I'm amazed to see the amount of stuff that is getting fixed in the PC port - GTA V should soon receive the Gen9 port on PC, it must be like 4-5 years since the last time I played it and I'd like to enjoy it again with the new version I don't have much time these days, but with VI probably not coming day one on PC it should be plenty to do everything Edited November 19, 2024 by Moncastler Ash_735, NightmanCometh96 and zanesix 2 1 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/999621-where-is-the-gta-community-now/#findComment-1072461149 Share on other sites

Most of the attention to the series are usually for Online, VI and sometimes V, while the rest of the games are noticeably few and sparse. TDE update might've resurrected the discourse for the series, but I know for a fact that nobody will give a sh*t about these remasters anymore after 2 or 3 weeks. Lioshenka
I think it's a generational thing. I remember back in 2006-2010 there would be a new topic created every minute, if not more often, on these forums. People were looking for myths; finding new things, tricks and bugs, discussing and sharing them with the others; taking and sharing screenshots; showing off their mods; having bizzarre but none the less fascinting discussions about whether Big Smoke is CJ's dad, and which character has the biggest penis. Since about 2020 the forums have been gradually becoming a graveyard of old discussions. There's hardly a new post per day in the SA section, for instance (maybe there are more in GTA 5 section, I don't check*). New topics are almost unheard of. I think that the younger generation is less likely to engage in a discussion, they mostly consume content, whatever it may be; which sadly allows a smal number of bloggers shape the public's opinion without much scrutiny. So generally it seems like no-one is watching/following anything, but I'm sure that they do, it's just it's not obvious because it happens behind the scenes, and it's hard to understand what's popular because of that. You can probably tell, I'm very cross about the demise of these forums It was a lovely social circle to be in, I really enjoyed it back in the day. * Actually, I've just checked. The last post in the GTA 5 section is from a week ago. Gettin up
I believe most GTA players are either playing other games or are sticking with GTA Online at the moment. DE games got updated so those games get a lot attention as well. GTA San Andreas sees 135% Xbox player spike following Definitive Edition fix. But I think forums in general are declining, people use other social media to interact. During the GTA3-SA period this forum was crazy busy, I don't know if i have mandela effect but the way I remember it if you posted a thread it was on the second page the next day if no one replied to it, people liked to bump their thread to bring it back on the 1st page which the mods didn't like. Lot's of topics like you said about silly things that would just be locked on sight nowadays. I'm oldschool but I think most discussions that used to be on forums have moved on to Discord now. zanesix
For me personally my involvement kind of slowed down after all of the litigation against the modding community in 2021. It hasn't really been the same since. I stick around for the few things that do remain like SilentPatch and FusionFix but it definitely ain't what it used to be. The modding sections are a graveyard compared to what they used to be 5 years ago. I honestly never knew about this, I never actually even bothered looking at other forums so my assumption was it was always a small forum. I don't think discord is used for discussion because the only discord channels that exist for GTA are GTA online related. I just realized how many mods people would make all the time for GTA. There's still some new really good ones being made, there was a modder who just ported ALL of GTA vice City into GTA 4, including the entire story and missions. It's basically GTA vice city RAGE but with missions Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/999621-where-is-the-gta-community-now/#findComment-1072461816 Share on other sites

Yeah its been pretty depressing to see one of my favorite companies bleed their fans for money (online & shark cards), sh*t on their biggest fans (the modding community), and generally have no respect for their own past and legacy (looking at you definitive edition). Rockstar today and 2000s Rockstar are 2 very different companies. Using the excuse "They're just big business what do you expect" doesn't wash, look at Valve as a comparison.
