RDR1 (PC) Modding wishlists!

Considering the currently pinned thread seems to be dedicated to RDR2 (going by all of the posts in there), I've decided to make this one just for RDR1.

 

So what mods would you like to see for the PC version of RDR1? Bug fixes, features, brand new content? Or something else?

This is the place to post those hopes and wishes, to keep it all in one place.

Who knows? Hopefully as the modding scene develops for this new port, people might make your ideas into reality.

 

 

I've got a few ideas, myself:

 

  • A mod to bind number/custom keys to quickly equip weapons that are set in the weapon wheel
    For example: Keep the vanilla Tab wheel system for selecting which weapons you want in each slot, but then you can press 1-8 (or any keys in a config) to quickly select what you've currently applied in the vanilla wheel.

 

  • A general "fixes" mod that addresses all of the issues that have existed ever since the PS3/360 days
    This one's pretty self-explanatory. There are a lot of bugs that exist in the recent Switch/PS4/PC ports that have been around ever since the original releases on PS3/360.
    There's a thread dedicated to documenting these issues here (please post there if you've found any!):

 

  • A mod to add more granular customization for John/Jack outfits
    It would be neat to have an overhaul to the current outfit system. Imagine using a custom in-game UI to pick the facial hair from the Gentleman's Attire, with the hat from Deadly Assassin, and the general body attire from the Mexican Poncho.
    It could even have outfit-specific perks bound to just the body slot, or even be configurable so you can pick which outfit piece you want the perk to be applied to, with a limit of 1 outfit's perk as long as you're wearing a single piece of the original perk's attire.

Other ideas:
 

  • A mod to make greetings possible with all NPCs, including animals
    Sometimes you just want to wish that cow a good day.

 

  • A mod to pet the dogs
    Self-explanatory.

 

  • A mod to properly implement the unused content
    Such as the double bandolier, saddle lantern, and other things such as weapons. It would be nice to have them added to in-game shops to be buyable.

It'd be nice to create a mod that removes the War Horse DLC, so that Bonnie gives John the original horse he was meant to have in New Friends Old Problems, the Cleveland Bay. I don't mind keeping the option to purchase the war horse deed from a general store later on but from a game progression standpoint I've never liked getting such a powerful horse so early in the story.

Not sure if you meant literally every UI element or just the ability to toggle existing options in a single key, but I wish there was a mod for removing everything else including the reticle, ammo counter, objective markers, help messages, etc.

A mod to be able to create your own mission if that's even possible. I found Mexico area a bit unexplored here and there, I think making new missions will make it better than it already is.

The other was a full first person mod but it seems a user on nexus already is working on that. Be able to drive those early cars too but that already exists too.

Something simple for keyboard users:

 

A mod that lets you walk with whatever weapon you're holding as well as stopping John from holstering it on his own when on foot and on a horse. John doesn't holster his weapon without the player's input in Undead Nightmare so I assume it shouldn't be too difficult to implement in the base game.
