GTA IV is the next port for PS5/Switch/Xbox S/X after RDR1?

Heh, it already exists on Xbox s/x, although I was disappointed that there is no such language as Russian, however, this port has problems, for example, some vagueness appears during the game, especially in the evening sunshine, and there is also a problem with climbing during the last messiah with the massacre of pegorino / Dimitri, you will not be able to climb on a helicopter playing from this console 100% the first time, however, you can do this, but you need to prepare your psyche for this because it will annoy you

Well, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One run Xbox 360 version on backwards compatibility obviously but that's the problem. Even if they will release a PS4/5 version, they won't touch Xbox One/Series X|S, just like they did to RDR 1. It's kinda weird treatment tho. I understand they didn't release a native version because of backwards compatibility thus saved up on it but still. At least language packs. I was kinda surprised they translated PC version into some languages back in 2020. I understand English well but presence of your native language is a great bonus (Russian in our case).

Both the IV port and RDR2 next-gen update can coexist and be in development.

I don’t know when the IV port is planned for release, but it’s definitely in development.

Do you feel confident based on reportings from NateTheHate and Nintendo press outlets that RDR2 is due for release this year for Switch 2/curren-gen?

Unless they re-license all the cut music, I don't want it.

Ya know, they could use music that is created in-house. That would be a better option, and it usually makes for more interesting music.

it absolutely does not, Cyberpunk 2077 is a perfect example of them creating music in-house for radio stations and the radio stations in that game are trash.

I don't think it makes sense for Rockstar to be developing a GTA IV port only to not release it or to hold its release for years and years to come.

They either are developing a GTA IV port and it's coming soon, or they are not developing a GTA IV port and RDR2 remaster is the real deal.

I know both can co-exist and be released at the same time, but it just seems too unlikely. And if they do co-exist, RDR2 remaster is probably going to take more time and work to be completed. Following this logic, RDR2 is the one they'll release later on, maybe.

Of course, there's also the possibility of both of them being just wild speculation?

Take Two have come out and said that the company are working on re-releases of legacy games. It's pretty much common knowledge that these titles include Max Payne, RDR and GTA. Grand Theft Auto IV is currently stranded on older hardware and is the one of the few modern Rockstar titles not playable on PS4/PS5. I've absolutely no doubt after the success of the RDR ports handled by Double Eleven, that GTA IV was always next on the agenda.

It's just a matter of when, not if. My only concern really is the release window, because 2026 should be all about GTA VI and GTA VI only. Releasing GTA IV in 2027 or later would be odd. Realistically, end of this year makes the most sense to tie people over until May '26. Would R* release both GTA IV and RDR II around the same time? Maybe, but doesn't strike me as a wise decision. RDR II's PS5 port should've happened years ago at this point.

Maybe they had a shot at a port between 2022-2023 (after the original trilogy remaster and before GTA VI promotion schedule) and the one they decided to make was RDR?

That's precisely why I'm saying the GTA IV port (which is presumably already in development) is not adding up. Not logistically at least.

On the other hand, Rockstar likes to keep fans in suspense. Maybe indeed both projects are going on in parallel and we will hear something in the near future.

I truly believe that anything is possible with Rockstar. Both scenarios are possible, Rockstar is truly unpredictable and could have a big surprise in store.

However, if VI is delayed until the end of 2026, that will leave room for the second port.

In any case, we are nearing the end of this, 2025 is slowly coming to a close, and we will see what comes out first.

You people worrying about when these ports will become a thing, meanwhile I'm just thinking about the butchered Vladivostok FM once it does, not being able to listen to this song and many others anymore. :(

Not having Glukoza - Schweine in the intro to "the cousins bellic" feels so so wrong.

So many iconic songs were removed from GTA4, even from its DLCs.

Imagine riding Johnny's Hexer waiting for this song to come on the radio, only for it to never come anymore?

I mean... I won't cuss at Rockstar over this or anything, after all having the game without some songs still is better than not having the game at all, but it still is a shame nonetheless.

The way I see it, they're not mutually exclusive. I get it, licensing rears its ugly head all the time, especially when it comes to video games, but I'd be more than happy to see GTA IV (along with LCS, VCS and CTW) become more easily accessible on modern platforms. That said, R* is also a billion dollar company that continues to rake in money thanks in part to shark cards. Surely they're capable of working out better agreements with record labels/estates/etc. to maintain the rights to as much of the original music as possible. Not to say they haven't already been trying: the fact that only one song has been removed from V since 2013 ("Can't Hold Back (Your Lovin') by Kano - one could argue that Morcheeba's "Tape Loop" also counts, since the album version was eventually replaced with a remix) suggests that they've been able to negotiate deals with longevity in mind. But on the outside, it feels as if they prefer to pinch pennies everywhere they can, considering how most of their rereleases have been handled (e.g. well-done, if expensive and a bit barebones in scope like D11's RDR1 ports; or shoveling off every single GTA rerelease other than their cash cow V to mobile studios, to the point of basing 20th anniversary remasters of the Trilogy on GSG's crappy conversions).

I'm sure there would still be exceptions, though. Michael Jackson's estate is notoriously difficult to work with, for instance, so I would sadly never expect his songs to remain in new iterations of VC (let alone having other songs included in future games).

Maybe Sam will step in himself and make sure that all the necessary money is allocated to relicense every lost song, because it's important  to preserve the integrity of this piece of art.

...wait. Are the chances of this happening almost non existent?

A man can dream...

It's about as likely as R* swallowing their pride and relisting the OG Trilogy on PlayStation and Steam...

Really hoping for a Ps4/Ps5 version, even if they removed some songs. Got a slight gta 4 itch, and would like to scratch it.

Do you miss going bowling with Roman and getting pissed with Packie?
