For me I go out hunting in Tall Trees for them Grizzly bears, getting as many pelts as I can hold and then set off for Mexico to sell the pelts for insane profits, I then go up to blackwater to gamble all my profits into the High Stakes Poker table. This has been my primary gameplay loop since I first discovered the High Stake game.

Tall Trees is also my favourite area in the whole game and I cannot wait to return to it. Those bears...

The game got an extra package on Steam, exclusive to Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, with a different data depot, while the original package was made unavailable in those regions.

My guess is that it's the censorship carried over from the GOTY version, where the woman that Abraham Reyes has an intercourse with in the opening cutscene for the mission The Gates of El Presidio has her breasts covered.

I think people from those regions who were fast enough to preorder the game before the separation will get the uncensored game.

I'm just hoping that it's not the most basic form of HDR implementation day 1, cause I honestly can't play anything w/o it these days.

Anything is better than the "Cinematic" HDR mode that RDR2 shipped with. The Game mode that was eventually patched in isn't the best, either (even after HDR10+ was added to the PC version back in March. At least if you have one of the few displays that supports it instead of Dolby Vision... :sadkek:). That said, E&E's HDR looked quite nice, IMO.

Not 100% sure but I think the censored content is under "Red Dead Redemption/game/base" now. On Switch it is under pretty much the same directory but it is named "cero" there.

I guess they have code checks that identify which region the system is from and if you're in a region where content is censored it pretty much loads the .rpfs with the censored scripts / textures / cutscenes from game/base or cero in Switch's / PS4's case.

There's no way to tell before release as depot contents are encrypted.

I'm fairly sure the censorship happens at the moment of purchase as you're given ownership license to a different depot depending on your Steam account region. So even if you move to another region after the fact, you're still stuck with the censored game. The only other regional content swapping I've personally seen was in SnowRunner, where Ford trucks are replaced with fake noname trucks depending on Windows locale setting.

Sure, but since the folder has the exact same .rpfs included as on Switch, and that just the folder's name changed, it kinda tells you. But sure, no way to know for certain I guess.

Always makes me laugh when games have to be censored, and made into region locked versions over silly things like that. Literally one short scene. Oh well.

What stuff is censored in RDR1 is it more than that scene? Also which countrys is affected by censorship?

Another one would be those blackmail photos from American Lobbyist showing the gossiper engaging with a prostitute, they are slightly censored as in the grid of the window gets in the view so you don't see what they are doing fully, the classic rockstar way, other than that, not much more, it's only a few files, really.

Basically a full changelog, if you will lol:

-In cero/content.rpf, there is a script included, marshal04.wsc and I'm not sure what they would have censored here, it's for one of the marshal's missions in any case.

-In cero/cutscene.rpf, there is that censored The Gates of El Presidio cutscene, not much more (actually there's one more cutscene as far as I can see, but the name of the directory is hashed so idk which it could be)

-In cero/fragments.rpf, there's the censored model of the girl from the cutscene above, you know the drill with her already.

-And in cero/mapres, there's the texture container of the blackmail photos I've talked about above, it includes those censored photos.

This stuff is located under the "cero" folder on the Switch version, as for PC, I've got enough reason to believe the same stuff is located under the "base" folder instead, because the same .rpfs are placed in there as far as I have seen.

This content is all loaded on top of the original game's .rpfs btw, if it weren't for the Rockstar Launcher replacing files you could simply just delete the "base" folder and there - censorship gone :sadkek: although nah its probably not that easy at all lol, this is pure speculation

As for regions, not sure.

I had fun driving a car and machine gun truck spawned with trainer on Switch emus then even I could had in gta and also 12 gigs.

There will be crazy amount of posts going online on android emulation subreddit as well as Cassia (Now Cancelia) server.

Winlator and Mobox and maybe more are big hit and Snapdragon 8 Elite in next phones, things will go bonkers.

The difference between 2004 and 2024 is so mental man.

Nokia N70 (My Uncle's) and ps2 slim with Sony TV back in 2004.

2024, PC and phones capable of almost running everything.

Next is Smart Glasses. You will see it folks.

Independently of the version people get, there will probably be mods to completely uncensor the game. 🤩

Sure, I mean, it'd probably be very easy to anyways. I reckon an .asi could blacklist the censorship folder pretty easily with the right patches... We'll see.

This isn't like other games too, there wasn't much to censor.

It's obviously not a big deal in grand scheme of life, but as a gamer I appreciate living in a country that never censored a single game (as far as I'm aware)

No censoring in Serbia either. Game availability has always been really consistent too, barring extreme cases of corporate brainrot (PSN region locking on Playstation PC games). I still remember how hard games like Saints Row (3 or 4, I think it was) and Left 4 Dead 2 got hit by censorship back in the day. I feel like that sort of stuff that doesn't happen anymore? Or it's just easier to avoid nowadays.

If you guys want something to play while you wait, I'd recommend hitting up Deadrock Redemption on Steam as that is another pretty good western.

When it comes to game censorship Germany is the leader in Europe. In Japan mostly gore is censored, even their own Resident Evil games are censored. There's for example light censor and high censor version of RE7, and that's their own game lol.

Dying Light 2015 is still banned in Germany I believe.

Some Middle Eastern countries censor gore, but mostly nudity, sex scenes or lewdness, and homosexuality. Square Enix refused to censor the gay kiss scene from Final Fantasy XVI (2023) so the game was banned from some Middle Eastern Countries, and even Kazakhstan in Central Asia.

There's a good channel on YouTube called censored gaming that shows some of the censored games around the world.

at least it´s not region locked

you can just buy a key online and activate it just fine

i did it like that

but nothing beats the sleeping dogs german version

regular version can´t be activated bc of region lock.

it never got a single patch or DLC like the regular version

not even the high res texture pack

then most executions got removed

like there is a mission in which you are in a slaughter house iirc and the hook execution is removed

so it´s more difficult than in the regular version

I still can't buy Dying Light for Switch on Nintendo eshop, because Nintendo eshop Europe is registered in Germany, so Nintendo couldn't release it in European eShop LUL.

Physical copies are very expensive, they don't print them anymore I assume.

Terrible anxiety, counting the days, even without being able to buy it now, I will be able to see the gameplay, menus, mouse and keyboard and everything good about this game on the PC

Speaking of which, where is our friend AudaxTenebra?

as long as it runs at more than 20 fps it is enough for me

Same for me lol, working better than Yuzu and Xenia is what I need.

Edit:

Just the ability to use a mouse and keyboard kills the emulation, even if it's not well optimized like the Definitive Edition.
