DrMod.
I'm making a video on which GTA islands are the best and worst... I want to know which islands you feel are the best in the game and exactly why ... I feel like in GTA 3 for example that staunton island is the worst... its big but lacks anything good like portlands car crusher or dealership. Also, Vice City.. i'd argue the first island with the beach, mall, malibu club and canal is FAR BETTER than downtown side of the map, also the 2nd island is lacking IMO. Adrian J.
Well it's hard to say island, like in San Andreas Whetstone area and Angel Pine are separated from SF by a river making it an island. So is that area in V where the military base is, there's a mountain but that small area is surrounded bu water. But I'd say Vice City mainland. With Downtown and it's massive skyscrapers, the blimp, the blue beam of light coming from the tallest building in the game. And the way I can drive on the rooftops with a bike, the arena and 3 event types each night. Then in contrast there's the run down Little Haiti, with small alleys and the canal/LA river type thing next to the Pay N Spray. Little Havana is more suburban and a bit cleaner, it has a nice vibe to it, and Sunshine Autos. Next to it are the docks, then there's the airport and the military base. It's a very varied place and it feels like a city. Vice City's first island feel like one fancy place, beach, hotels some houses, the golf course is the more stand out place. The Journey
The North of San Andreas (Las Venturas Bone County and Tierra Robada). I spent the most time there after I finished San Andreas. When it comes to cities San Fierro > Los Santos > Las Venturas but listening to KDST and ripping through the desert was just vibes. Also Alderney because it feels like its own city with its own downtown, rich areas, suburban areas, poor areas, industrial areas, abandoned areas, and the skyway is cool too. My fav in GTA IV probably would’ve been Bohan if it was bigger though. both islands are the last islands you unlock in game so they saved the best (IMO) for last. I didn’t play enough of GTA III and Vice City, and GTA V doesn’t count cause it’s 1 island. cant remember
Worst: VC mainland. It has some cool ideas but it's clearly rushed and made to a lower quality. Like the parking garage, cafe by the tree,.. just being a flat texture and weird out-of-bounds areas if you go between/behind the buildings. The road layout is also meh, with just the single long avenue connecting everything and downtown being built like a single loop racetrack. Bohan: It's so compact and confusing to navigate, and difficult to access with most bridges leading to it having perpetual traffic jams, it's an island I don't like visiting much. Best: Los Santos from SA. It has a bit of everything, poor areas, fancy areas, several litlte towns surrounding it. It's also coherently built and attractive looking, it outdid everything the series had done before. Honerable mentions, really any island from GTA4/5 since they are so much bigger and detailed than anything from the 3D era. GhettoJesus
Best would be the southern half of San Andreas imo, so Los Santos and San Fierro. Las Venturas feels a bit unrefined in certain areas. The worst would be Shoreside Vale. So many different things crammed into such a little area. Lioshenka
For me it would be a difficult choice between Tierra Robada+LV and GTA 3's Portland. Both are very different in character, but I suppose if I had to choose, I'd pick Tierra Robada purely for the fact that it has the countryside. I love its beautiful sunsets over the reservoirs, I love the ghost towns where it's hot during the day and cold at night. I love the long drives along the isolated roads with canyons in the distance, beautiful views whenever you look. Portland just feels like home, but it's more suits those accustomed to city living. Convenience shops on every corner, all modes of transportation available, quite streets, sound of waves crashing against the concrete and the distant approaching train, steam coming from the manholes and trees dressed in yellow autumn leaves. Worst is the VC's Western island. It has some very nice spots - latin american quarter near the café, Little Haiti, but overall it seems very empty and half-baked. Distinct areas are too small and mismatched, ending and starting too abruptly. Most of it is made up of what seems like abandoned concrete blocks with no yards or interiors. The shore between the buildings and the water body is too narrow and not utilised or detailed. It just feels like something thrown together in a month. .Ryan.
Best: Algonquin. I’ve always found Manhattan to be a fascinating location and since I’ll likely never visit it in my life this is the next best thing along with both of the Marvel Spider-man games of course. Worst: Leaf Links *ducks and covers* I kid. I don’t really have a worst “island” per say, but worst location? Eh probably San Fierro. Just never gelled with the place. lux_vq
Well, that depends on what you are up to. Because I remember that Staunton Island was the best in GTA3. The reason for that is the highway around the island, you could drive very fast endlessly on it. The same would be the long road on "mainland" Vice City. Algonquin feels the most crowded and real. Bohan on the other hand I don't get it, like it was forced to be an island, probably that's the worst for me. Los Santos both, from SA and 5 looks the most complete, having just everything, and in good proportions. The southern part of Vice City's first island has the best atmosphere. Las Venturas is weird for me, but I liked the Bone County though.
