hi there guys, here's my entry in this version of MOTW:

i decided to do it a bit "simple", because the lack of cutscenes makes it hard to make an good mission 😅

it doesnt requiere any audio files, just the mods in modloader.

It's about time i review the missions of this MOTW, HERE WE GO!

 

Cute Kitten's DYOM Circus by Cute Kitten

Spoiler

RATING: 6.25
 

This mission was boring, and hard. all you had to do was move a 250 health car to a VERY tight parking spot near the barrel, then get in the combine, and become careful not to harvest the slow walking people, etc. This mission had no action! 

 

Streets Of Rage by jayshizzo

RATING: 5.00

 

Okay, this mission has alotta action but the hard moments were that you had to take down a Hunter helicopter, which was frustrating. and the guy with the heat-seeking rocket launcher, it was impossible to kill him, so this mission is very BAD compared to the last one.

Finally a mission that is not so ''impossible'', good action, not boring, i had fun playing this. and i even loved the plot twist at the last moments of the mission that David said: Wait, before you go i gotta tell you something. and then you get ambushed by his men. Great job MonsterHG, im proud of you.

This mission was decent, it started off by the main character calling Emile to pick him up at the Police Station. also i enjoyed 2 moments, having to chase Big Silver, and chasing that plane, that plane moment. I thought that it would go away from San Andreas lol, but the plane crashed down and that was nice.

Anyway I don't see any rule that states I can't post reviews so here I go

 

Streets of Rage - @jayshizzo

Spoiler

-Kinda hard (in spirit of the original game, which I appreciate)
-A little janky
-The armor pickup probably shouldn't be objective as if you haven't taken damage you can't pick it up and progress the mission
-Some enemies are not marked as required to kill at the correct objective
-Personally I think you should've only used melee weapons for authenticity but that's just my opinion
Summary: Pretty solid mission with some slightly questionable design choices
Score: 7/10

 

Call... - @MonsterHG2

-Too many phone calls (I guess I should've expected that from the title)
-The writing was alright (Although there was a lot of broken English, but after a year in the DYOM community I'm questioning if that's even a bad thing as it has some charm)
-Some unintuitive objective placement
-Missing time limit? There is a timeout which I assume was supposed to be a timer
-There is some pointless driving around (which I guess was supposed to be on the previously mentioned timer)
-Got shot by enemies after picking up a package while I was forced to take a call which made me defenseless
-Final boss had a little too much health
Summary: This mission would have been better with cutscenes and plays poorly without them. Should've maybe done something less dialogue heavy for the theme.

-Wanted level is not disabled (the traffic and ped spawning is disabled so it doesn't matter that much, although a Police Helicopter still spawns, but it bothers me because for a L.A. Noire inspired mission where you play as the police it's kinda weird)
-Bad NPC placement (Most of them drowned, unless that is intentional)
-Invisible markers, couldn't initially progress the mission because the character I was supposed to follow drowned
-Expecting NPCs to stick to their path and not get stuck or die is a little too ambitious
-Some enemies were not marked as "must survive" when I was supposed to only follow them (they drowned anyway which should've failed the mission)
-No, seriously I had to open the mission with DYOM editor to figure out how to progress
-So much completely pointless driving, URGH! (Have you ever heard of teleports by any chance?)

-The shootout at the airfield was pretty good and shooting down the plane was exciting
-Was this mission even playtested?

Summary: This mission is just... BAD. It's such a shame because the story was fine. Don't ever rely on AI pathing and combine it with invisible checkpoints. And the driving.

Yeah, if the AI pathing worked correctly and there weren’t any long drives where nothing happened, I would have given it a 7/10 maybe even 8. I’m sure your next mission will be great.
