This car made me realized that we need an updated Peyote...

For context, the Vapid Peyote is based on gen 1 Ford Thunderbird, which should be similar in size to the Coquette D1 ('56 Chevrolet Corvette)

And this post reminds me that we still need a mid 90s model Fortune…

This is definitely the most interesting and customisable car from the last few years. I am a classic car lover, especially Porsches and MG’s. The origin lays when I was living in Belgium and was very close (via my then wife’s family) mechanic Gilbert who was renovating British cars, especially MG’s, for a living in his own garage. Once in a while he went to the USA to look for good cars in the areas of Los Angeles and also Florida: since the weather conditions are better to preserve oldtimers he literally drove around and bought cars from the street. He talked with people on the road, made a deal and those cars ended up to be put in larges wooden crates with sometimes 3 cars stacked upon each other. The shipping costs were very expensive towards Antwerp so he tried to fill the crates with other cars and/or motorcycles as well. He bought classic Harley’s and American small classic cars which he sold to other dealers with a profit without doing any  work to it. One day he bought 2 Chevrolette Corvettes C1 and I was there when they arrived in his garage. One was a  seriously worn C1 from 1957 (colour was red but the sun had given it its dried tomato look, the interior wasn’t much better and the panels had cracks in the glass fibre. The other one was the total opposite: it was in sallon condition and looked brand new. It was a black 1959 C1 with silver side panels and a red leather interior with white details. Even the tires were original and soft and hard top were in perfect condition. It had only 350 on the counter and the former owners had  put this car away in plastic airconditioned containers to keep in perfect condition just as an investment. I had the honour to wash the car in and outside so I have seen the details, felt the large steering wheel, leather and other gadgets which was back in the days certainly the state of the art. I have never driven it and I also don’t know what happened with the car afterwards. Gilbert was a man of many words but never talked about finances.

Back to GTA 5;) So when I saw to my surprise this little rascal among the new cars I had to buy one of them to honour Gilbert and made the exact version. Before the end of the day I had 3 of them and the next day I bought another 2!!!

I have now 2 convertibles and 3 hardtops:

- hardtop Gilbert version with the original wheels so it goes with the spare tire on the back:)

- an open full white with beige secondary colour including the rack and silver grey interior (all chrome is deleted) and the wheels are from high end with mud brown colour)

- hardtop racer with dark blue crew colour and ultra blue pearlescent with black enterior and the salty look livery over it with old school muscle wheels. The roll cage is red (note: R* went wrong with that one: my head is constantly in / out the bar so I only use it for hardtop:(

This car is based on one I have seen at an exhibition)

- an open full moss green with beach brown pearlescent and white interior: also this one has get modern wheels which fits very well to a restomod.

- last but not least: a hardtop matte night purple with metal silver side panels and stone grey interior and white old school wheels based on the Fuellie called Purple People Eater but then restored with the grey 2 stripe livery!

I will try to make photo in the nearby future and upload but what I want to try to say is: this car is just a gift that keeps on giving! You can do so much with it, classic, modern, racy and the pick up my girlfriend for a drive and picknick look. It sounds great (the roar like an old man’s cough is just fantastic), it drives fantastic and looks even better!!!  Just a must have and a positive vibe between all the mk2 depressives and other frustrated waponised crap. This made my summer dlc already a good one: now waiting for the merc to be released: hopefully I can keep my buying urge just up to 3 haha
