Your PC Specs

There's mine:

RTX 3080 10GB

i7 9700k @ 4.8ghz

Kingston Fury Beast 32GB 3200mhz ddr4

It still does the job for most modern games that come out. Although my CPU is a bit old now, an upgrade this year is still on the cards I reckon. I'm thinking of going AMD this time around, possibly with a 7800X3D or wait until the end of the year.

Yet the smaller one states:

To be fair, I'm happy with what I have. I don't really PC game, and if I do then I have my Rog Ally for the few games I do play. Living situation means I can't get a desktop PC right now, so this laptop suffices more than enough for what I wanted.

AMD 5800x

nVidia 3070

32gb 3600mhz DDR4

The 3070 has become problematic because of VRAM, but also the cooling on my card sucks, one of the fans on it (it has 3 small fans) is super f*cking noisy if it goes over 70% fan speed, so I have a custom Afterburner profile to manage my temps, which does cost me some performance. For my next card I think I'll go with a dual fan card, I feel like they're just better for noise in general.

I will be buying a new GPU either at launch of the new nVidia cards or not long after, probably going with a 5080 tier card this time around. CPU wise it's okay, I've been tempted to swap it for a 5800X3D but I don't think it's super worth it for me tbh. I'll do a full system upgrade probably later in 2025 or early 2026, sticking with AMD again, but going with a X3D series CPU.

Intel just seems like a mess for gaming CPU's atm. Some of their CPU's are causing all sorts of issues in games, plus the power draw and heat. An AMD X3D CPU just seems like it's a no brainer for anyone at this point.

Yeah, I saw a few streamers play that Grey Zone Warfare and ran into a bunch of issues with the 14900 or 13900 Intel CPU's, multiple CTD's and needed to do a BIOS fix.

I think with AMD It's the platform longevity. It just seems like the right move, to be honest.

Yea I think it's some voltage thing that isn't being done right, it's "fixable" I believe but it's a mess.

If mine's 100%, I wonder what a 7950X and 4090 would score?

I need to upgrade just the GPU and it should be fine, waiting for the 5000 ones. More RAM is absolutely needed nowadays, only recently I put more.

I'll keep it for at least 10 years from now with the GPU upgrade....

This was my previous PC, two different gpus over time, Windows XP to Windows 7 also.

For my first PC back in 2005/2007 I don't remember the specs, it was good for that time.

I was so excited when I built my PC but after two years I barely game on it as I feel like I've just drifted away. Solo gaming sucks.
