Kate is AMAZINGLY underused in this game

Outside of dating, she only appears in maybe 3 other missions. She only plays somewhat of a role during the ending, which she ultimately either getting killed or dumping Niko, if the game really wanted to make the choice between Kate and Roman difficult they should have given her more focus and be a serious love interest for Niko, and maybe even give her some sort of mini-storyline like they did with every other McReary brother (I know it would be pretty difficult since Kate isn't a criminal, but maybe they could have made missions similar to Florian Cravić). Or maybe if the Deal ending is chosen we could have maybe keep dating Kate and maybe she'll let us have a hot coffee. Ultimately the Kate we got is a pretty underwhelming for what could have been a really well flushed character.

It's kind of up to the player though since you can go on a LOT of hangouts with her and hear a LOT of dialogue. They really open up to each other (much more than Niko does with anyone else) so if you choose to go on all the dates it becomes much more like a story/progressing relationship than if you don't.

I fully agree. She is one of my personal favorite characters in GTA IV. She tied with Jon Gravelli as my favorite character in GTA IV. I wish there were a cutscene with her and Roman just talking about Niko when he was younger before the war and it's slightly embarrassing him. In my headcanon she also drives a green Vapid Fortune.

I have a more personal reason why she is one of favorite characters of the whole GTA series. I would quit playing GTA in my first three months of playing the game series, if she wasn't in the game.  Because of a deep conversation she had with Niko, doing one of the friend outings.  They were taking about Niko's experience with the war, He said " The war taught me a lot of bad things, but it also taught me to enjoy life" I almost quit playing the game series, because of the violence and how the older GTAs treated woman. But that one quote keeps me playing GTA that day and ever since.
