SaH4PoK Posted March 28, 2024 Share Posted March 28, 2024 (edited) About Quote This idea was about restoring Vice City features, things and content and adding some canonical content to the original San Andreas, maybe sometimes by broking lore laws (like adding Vice City map) but adding it very carefully and with a good quality of things. sa++ originally planned as a technical improvement of original game (inspired by re3) with adding advanced experience, which will allow you to add those things that were missing in the original game or that Rockstar ruined in this part of the game, adding them unnoticeably for the player, more features and content in (barely) canonical way. It was started in September 2022 and unfreezed couple a weeks ago. Based on community mods (SAxVCxLC included). The idea is to create a technical basis for the game that can be reused for other modifications and the idea is the most natural and accurate combination of game maps in accordance with the canons (GTA1 + San Andreas) in the style and atmosphere of the original game. Even if the modification is not brought to its logical final implementation, the main goal was to outline its concept and show how it could have been if Rockstar had taken on such an ambitious idea back in 2004, since this concept raises many things that even Rockstar themselves did not answered yet: how to combine different types of cars between different cities, what differences should be in the design, what variety of content should be present in the game, what game balance between content should be, and so on. Exploring new ideas within the original style and relative canon with an attempt to recreate Rockstar's vision and atmosphere that took place during the production and release of the original game. Thus, the development of the modification itself is in a slightly alternate timeline. With using the minimum of modern things wherever possible. The III\VC content looks jarring in SA, to say the least, there's a noticeable difference in the art-style. It's a big and complicated question, but in general I thought I should bring these maps and content to San Andreas style first, and then we'll see from there. In my understanding Vice City, San Andreas and Liberty City Stories are the closest in style because they were formed from close components and general style (textures, models). If you mean scripts and missions, the scripts of past parts are completely different and the code of San Andreas missions has become much better and optimized in many ways, so the scripts 100% need a total rework and in places I do it where it is easy, so far. No, I'm actually saying that I'm looking forward to a separate version of the mod that ONLY adds the LC and VC maps to the vanilla SA and nothing else from III and VC. I was planning to do 3 variations of the build delivery with different styles: Vanilla SA, III/VC Style and (my own) sa++ way (something balanced between SA, VC, Stories at the same time). For example it will affect the style of car models (color scheme) and amount of content in general. But.. we'll see.
