Starter Save at 50%

Hi all,

 

I am currently assembling a Starter Save on my PS2. I have completed everything other than Import/Export. Everything is listed in the Stats menu, I can clearly see what I have completed which gets deducted from the checklist I make at the beginning of my play through. The only thing left is Import/Export which, number 1, can't be completed at the beginning because of the BF Injection, FBI Car, Barracks OL and Rhino, and number 2, I wasn't expecting to be able to complete because a Securicar spawning on PS2 is ridiculously rare. Ultimately, I didn't think Import/Export was worth 3%? That's what I need clarified, otherwise it means I missed something and I really have no idea what that would be.

I think you're missing more than just the Securicar. That alone doesn't add up to 3%. The vehicle crane only yields percentages once you have all the vehicles there.

 

Did you do the introductory mission or are you still walking around in your orange prison suit?

 

Are you playing the PAL or NTSC version?

I had a look at your checklist. As I did throughout my play through, I removed each side mission I’ve completed from your list and I’m only left with Import/Export, all 3. I took a video of my Stats screen:

Hmm... I can't imagine the percentage jumping from 50% to 53% when you deliver the missing Securicar. All 16 import/export vehicles from the Portland Dockk result in 10.4%.

 

You should check which PAL version you have. 1.40 or 1.60? If you have 1.40, you can only achieve 52% in this starter save. Unless you use a trick and do the Paramedic Mission two more times.

Here you will find information on how to check which version you have.

I’ll check which version I have, but regardless, Import/Export is not going to make it jump up 2%. You saw the video, right?  I’m not losing my mind am I, everything is showing as complete?

Unfortunately, no. It's on a memory card and I don't have the resources available to transfer it to PC.

Then find the damn Securicar. You don't want to make a starter savegame and leave out the Securicar? Who does something like that?

I can think of too many other things I could be doing with my time rather than driving around in a video game looking for a specific car

SLES-50793-P, which, from the brief research I’ve done seems to be Australian PAL version 1.00 which is equivalent to the European v1.40 release if I’m not mistaken. All these different versions confuse me

To Check the Version is easy. You just need to insert the PS2 disc into your PC and open it. There, look for MAIN.SCM in the DATA folder and display the properties of this file.

Everything looks good in the video. If you have put out 20 fires on each island and killed 20 criminals, everything is good. Unfortunately, the statistics do not show which vehicles have already been delivered. Isn't there something else missing from the sign in front of the garage that you have overlooked?

You can get a bus by roaming near the stadium and Phil's place, it seems to spawn consistently there on PS2.

Securicar and Trashmaster also spawn in traffic if you're lucky I think?

 

But the Barracks OL, FBI car and Rhino I can't think of a way to get those early, the BF Injection also only has a single spawn location after a certain mission is completed.

I was once able to force the Securicar and Bus to spawn in Portland by stealing one in Staunton in traffic, parking it right above the pier of Asuka's Condo, boating it back to Portland and just running around chinatown until the desired car shows up (it should stay in memory as long as you don't get another car).

 

Trashmaster definitely shows up in Vigilante missions I'm sure.

So, does this mean that completing the Portland Crane will fulfill the final 3%? That's what I'm saying, I didn't realize it was scaled that high if that makes sense.

Why didn't you say that straight away? I thought the whole time you were just missing the Securicar.

These 3 cars are your missing 3 percent: Securicar, Trashmaster, Bus

With them you would then have 53%.

 

And to the Portland Vehicle Crane. It only adds percentages when you have them all. Which is not possible in starter save.

Right, so each vehicle is worth 1%? Thanks for clearing that up. 
 

I didn’t mention it because I didn’t realize you were awarded a percentage for each vehicle; I figured it was awarded after completing the entire list. 
 

Anyway, I guess that answers my query

But apparently you only have 50.69%. Since your game only shows 50%. The game always rounds down the percentage display. 0.5 rule is ignored by the game.

With the 3 vehicles Bus, Trashmaster and Securicar you would only get a total of 52.64%. But you should actually get to 53.25%.

So either you really have version 1.40 or you are still missing something.

 

 

To verify the vehicle missions.

 

Do you have Infinite Sprint? - Paramedic completed

Do you have the following items at the savehouse?

• Health - Paramedic, 36 patients
• Adrenaline - Paramedic, 78 patients
• Flamethrower - Firefighter
• 6 Police Bribes - Vigilante

…which means I can achieve 53% and am missing something still. This is crazy

Now it's all clear. You're not only missing Securicar, Trashmaster and Bus. You're also missing the Flatbed. You didn't mention that either.

Then there are only 12 vehicles in the Portland Import Export Garage.
