Even if GTA VII will release in 2030 it were 22 years after the last game set in Liberty City. Don't get me wrong NYC isn't my favorite location but after more than 20 years there is no reason to complain if you revisit a place. Despite NYC not my favorite location I had favored a New England setting over Miami already for VI but I'll give it a chance.

You take me wrong brother, im dont complain about back to LC, beacuse thats what im think will happend after GTA VI, new universe and LC as whole state

I don't think so, I consider the HD universe to still be in its infancy seeing how few games take place in it and how long it takes for R* to release a new entry. I think the HD universe is here to stay.

It would be redundant and confusing I feel for R* to suddenly start over after GTA VI when we sat through V for more than a decade and will probably have to do the same with VI until VII comes out. It would be like ending an overarching story when it's at its halfway point. There are also some cities within the HD universe that we still have not seen such as San Fierro and Las Venturas and I'm sure R* will want to revisit these locations in the future among new ones I hope, it will just take a very long time.

How will you know?

GTA V was released in 2013, VI will be released in 2025 - thats 12 years. With a delay to 2026 13 years, if takes as much time to release GTA VII it will be 2037 to 39, around 30 years after the release of GTA IV. A lot of GTA VII's future playerbase was not born when GTA IV was released and will never play GTA III.

God this is depressing reading! The parties over folks. Once again I'm extremely grateful I was a teenager for III to IV - just a 7 year period. Crazy to think that now.

God, this silly discussion again 🙄

The short answer is: no.

Spoiler

The long answer is: The change of universe happened because of the need to raise the "standards" of the GTA series. As much as we love the 3D era games, they were stagnant in an era where games were rapidly changing to become more visually elaborate, taking advantage of newer hardware in consoles and PC. The maps of Liberty City and Vice City (San Andreas not as much IMHO) aged quite badly since they were made first, Vice City in the span of less than a year even. Games were starting to take longer to make, and more expensive too. The current era of GTA is here to stay, it will not go away, because games now evolve at much slower rate than they did 20 years ago. Visually, IV didn't age as much as III or VC did, and of course V is still the latest game of the series to be released. The "HD" universe expands at a much slower rate than the 3D one did, they are not gonna start over with the game after VI. It wouldn't make sense.
