I Need a Recommendation About Silent and Reliable 500W PSU

Recommended Posts

Hello dear Gtaforums members 🙂

I'm currently using 420W (Originally 350W but peak is  420W) and not reliable PSU and i'm planning to change it next week. Because of that i need recommendations and which points should i need to pay attention..

You can see my specs below.. I don't have a water cooling system and additional features.. just basic components and the case itself 🙂

It'd help to know which country are you located in, which shop are you planning to buy from and what's your approximate budget.

Just FYI, I'd this PC probably doesn't exceed ~150W under full load.

Is it a prebuilt PC, ie you bought it prebuilt from a company like Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc?

If so then when you take into account the age of the PC and the lower spec there's a very good chance it's a OEM PSU which means the PSU shape and size could be anything, prebuilts from that era, especially lower spec ones, were literally designed to be not upgraded by any means.

If that's the case your answer could be getting a new version of whatever PSU is in your PC at the moment, lol.

I'm no so sure what you mean by less reliable though, that's a very old PC, unless you're getting PSU related problems it's probably not worth investing any more money into it. I know not every has the money to go out and buy a new PC on the spot, but perhaps the best solution is to start saving for a new, cheap modern system.

- Obviously i'm from Türkiye 🙂

- Because of high prices on almost everything i'm planning to buy it from used computer part stores/websites..

- I'm not going to order from outside of country and because of that i can't tell my appr. budget 🙂

This is my current system but i'm planning to buy a 4GB GPU and FX CPU and replace the current ones.. Because of that i need a 450W or 500W reliable and silent PSU..

I've gathered all these pieces from the second hand sellers for WORKING PURPOSES.. Actually you are right.. i was in a hurry during this gathering because i had to start working as soon as i could 🙂 I'll definitely upgrade it with getting rid of most parts when i have time and money.. 😉

Obviously not everyone has money to put down on a new PC on a whim, but yea, yours is particularly old based on parts listed and while I have no doubt you'll be able to find replacement parts you'll be essentially putting money into an outdated machine just to keep it running.

Personally if I were in that position I would be looking at saving money to buy a new machine later down the line. I don't know the prices in Turkey mind you, I'm just going of UK prices in my head, lol.

Sorry but that's off-brand garbage. You'd have been much better off getting something significantly lower wattage from a reputable manufacturer.

Yeah, I wouldn't skimp out on a PSU either. As mentioned, there's way better quality from known manufacturers, especially if you're building a modern system as you go.

Aerocool KCAS 600W is made by Andyson (as far as I could find), so it's not total garbage and not really what I'd call off brand. Still, it's definitely a cheap and old design, and not something I'd spend my money on.
