Things you would choose SPOLERS Warning) when you play GTA IV's story in 2024?

Recommended Posts

My opinions would be:

Spare Ivan, of course. Vlad vas an asshole.

Spare Cherice. Se never did anything to Niko.

Kill Playboy X. Not because of his penthouse, but he asked Niko to kill Dwayne first, and he called Niko "cold." in the last phone call.

I would spare Clarence, but shoot him later.

I would spare the priest or whatever he is. Also spare the woman walking down.

Darko Brevic
This might be a though choice but I choose to walk away and spare him.

Killing Francis McReary instead of Derrick

-Derrick McReary would have snitched Niko, but he either overdosed, or never would have snitched Niko.
-Francis threatened to put Niko in Prison what would have stopped him to do so, or attempt to do that in the future after that all that stuff?

Killing Dimitri

-After so many phone calls, this seems to be the right decision. It is a somewhat sad ending for Niko, but Packie mentions in one of his txts msgs to take Kate out, if he doesn't mind dating a f*cking nun. Niko never gets to meet Kate in person really.
-Dimitri would have backstabbed Niko so hard even before that, so I would have guess that he wouldn't ever accepted to do the deal with him.

Kill Dimitri.

  • Spare Ivan for the aforementioned reason, and also because he has his own bystander mission.
  • Spare Cherice for the aforementioned reason.
  • Kill Playboy. Listening to Dwayne's side of the story I just can't help but feel bad for him. Also, more rewarding than Playboy's measly cash reward.
  • Spare Clarence for now. Yeah, turns out this was a bad idea, he's pretty much guilt-tripping you and he tries to kill you again the moment you meet him later.
  • Kill Darko. Niko wanted to put a bullet to the damn guy for a long time.
  • Pick revenge. After all the things Dimitri did to Niko and his cousin, Niko'd know better than to fall for the bastard's trick again.
  • Haven't decided yet for the McRearies and others, though I spared Francis on my last playthrough.

The Journey

I played the story a couple times and always picked Francis, but then I really started thinking about it and if I played the story again I would kill Derrick. Niko has dirt on Francis too and uses it for his advantage, Derrick was the Darko Brevic of his group and had Niko kill the other two without him even knowing what really happened.

cant remember

- I spare most people just for the reason they provide an extra cutscene meeting them again later.

- I kill Playbox X, the rewards are better and I like Dwayne's character much more

- I kill Darko, that was the whole quest Niko came so far he couldn't just then not do it.

- I kill Francis. First playthrough I killed Derrick because of the cop star reward, but on further playthrough I kill him because I never end up using the reward (which expires after story complete anyway) and I prefer Derrick as a character.

- I choose revenge, also because the rewards are much better, if it were more balanced I would chosen deal because it's a more powerful ending and Dimitri is a more interesting ending villain than Pegorino

Overall, the game always punishes you for doing the "bad" choice so I never feel really free to choose the option I want. The sparing option always gives you an extra encounter, better post-game friend,.. etc while the kill option has nothing in return to make up for it so if you want to exprience the whole game with as many cutscenes as possible the choice is made for you. Darko was the only one where either choice was balanced and I actually felt like I had total freedom to either go for finishing the job or letting go of the past and sparing a life.

Ivan: Spare without a second thought.

Playbox or Dwayne: Not only is PBX an asshole, getting his penthouse from killing him is a unique reward, whereas the money for killing Dwayne for him can be made up in a few missions.

Charice: I spare her, since Dwayne is happier that she's alive, and her random encounter is more interesting than Clarence's.

Clarence: I spared him once, but in his random encounter he tries to kill you, and it's not even in a remotely interesting or challenging way. He just pulls out a basic pistol, and you immediately mow him down because he's alone and you have way better weapons at this point in the game.

Isaac's associate: I usually spare him. No consequence either way.

Frankie or Derrick: Frankie is one of the biggest assholes in the game. His reward isn't even unique because you can get it from Kiki. Shooting him is one of the most satisfying choices in the game. None of Derrick's flaws come close to making him as unlikable as Frankie.

Darko: Kick him down to one health bar, then leave him there. He and Roman both state being alive is worse for him, but the game still pats you on the shoulder for sparing him. :pp

Ending: Revenge. There's no reason to trust Dimitri whatsoever. And as much as I like the McRearys, the choice between losing Kate, who you've only just gotten to know, versus Roman, who's been with you the entire game, is not a hard choice.

Why are people killing Francis and not Derek? Sure, Francis is a slimeball, but let’s not forget that Derrick is literally a snitch and most of his missions revolve around getting rid of the people he snitched on.

Seriously? :O You should expect dishonest behavior from a criminal, but a cop is supposed to be upholding law and social order. So not only is he an irredeemable asshole, Frankie is also a colossal hypocrite.

"But at leaat he's honest" :kekw:
