The roundabout

What's the point of having a roundabout if it has traffic lights? Then it can't serve the purpose of maintaining traffic flow. Maybe it has those to allow pedestrians to safely cross to the roundabout island where the monument is.

Here in the UK where roundabouts are common they often involve traffic lights. But I don't remember this one to judge it, whereabouts on the map is it?

 

Edit: If you're talking about the big arch monument next to Outlook Park in Broker, the real monument it's based on (Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch next to Prospect Park in Brooklyn) appears to have traffic lights on the roundabout surrounding it, as seen here on google street view:

It's just to manage the flow of traffic and allow pedestrians to cross same as on other roads

Most modern traffic circles in Europe don't have traffic lights. Roundabouts usually have yield signs from what I've seen where people on the roundabout have priority. The lights seem to only make sense for pedestrians, otherwise it's a travesty against roundabouts.

Lots of them do lol, just in my small town of 35,000 people several roundabouts have traffic lights on or right near them to help manage traffic. But anyway you can look at the Google Maps image I posted to see for yourself that the real life location has them.

who ever used the roundabout in a normal way? i always used it as a jump. it was way more fun that way.
