On the top of my head, I can think of JFK, Gorbachev, Janis Joplin, and Phil Collins. Who else is there?

They mentioned Hitler in SA (iirc Toreno was like "yea he didnt kill himself") and Regan was mentioned frequently the radio in VC and VCS

 

Also Dubya was mentioned in an article on the Liberty Tree site they made to promote III if you count that

Originally the Ammu-Nation commercial that can be heard in VC and SA was meant to be in III and mentioned Saddam Hussein. The commercial was never used and Hussein's name was replaced with Australia as a reference to the Australian-American war joke from Chatterbox.

Good point, for some reason they also omitted Toni mentioning the Duran Duran tour bus in GTA III, the line is simply blanked out.

Ricky Gervais mentions Albert Einstein and Stephan Hawking during one of his standup acts in IV. Brian Meech also mentions Benjamin Franklin when giving Niko cash in their first encounter, so I imagine (at least some?) historical figures exist in the HD universe

In one of the Liberty City-specific songs on 102.7 The Beat in IV they mention Lindsay Lohan, which makes me wonder if that whole Rockstar lawsuit thing was even more of a coincidence lol

Was it from one of those weird custom made songs specifically for IV that still mention real life locations and brands that are parodied in IV?

I can tell it was one of those custom made songs for sure, but I'm pretty sure they didn't mention any real life locations or brands though

iirc WAR IS NECESSARY was made for IV and it mentioned Times Square and Oldsmobile cutlasses so idk. But then again, were those songs specifically made for IV or did rockstar go up to these rappers and ask them to make something that’d fit the theme of the game without telling them what it was?

TBH with you I don't think I could tell the difference, probably the latter though I think they mentioned some IV specific names for boroughs though

I guess it's worth noting that Duran Duran do eventually get mentioned in one of the Love Fist cutscenes in VC.

Hitler was mentioned in the NUCA Museum commercial in GTA 4 as well.

I also remember the Kleinman in the cabaret club mentioned Isaac Newton at one point.

 

EDIT: I forgot to mention, real-life comedians Ricky Gervais and Katt Williams make an appearance in this game aswell.
