GTA IV taxi drivers

Why are the taxi drivers so nuts? When they stop, they stop abruptly leaving skid marks, sometimes driving on the sidewalks, etc. Also, why do they do dumb sh*t and sometimes have bad pathfinding? And why are they so aggressive, verbally and physically?

That and poor programming and design, though still impressive.

Yes, the few times I have, they've been pretty good in my experience. They just always smell like cigarettes and drugs.

They are just really terrible which is weird when you consider how amazing the AI drivers are in Gang Wars. I could say it was done purposely to make fun of real life taxi drivers(some taxis I’ve been in had drivers who drove as if they were trying to break the sound barrier) but looking at the way AI drive in Brucie’s races, probably just terrible programming.

Preferred the cab drivers in SA.  They always came at you with a shovel when they were mad.

Taxis in Paris are completely bonkers, though they don't bump into other cars. I always assumed the taxis were crazy because they have to veer off the standard AI paths and their programming is bad.

I have a feeling R* had a hard time coding taxi drivers and decided to leave them as is for the player to witness and experience some chaos and maybe to make some kind of commentary on New York's own taxi drivers.
