You believe GTA IV multiplayer was better than V Online?

I would say IV has a very chill multiplayer free mode which is really nice. There’s no main path that guides you like V’s ‘economy’ with money and rank. It’s just play the game, use your imagination. V is nice because you have something to do or work for IF you want to (owning apartments and properties).

I think if GTA V’s online would have been like IV’s with the updated graphics, real time player customization, vehicle customizations, and no micro transactions it would have been fine.
Rockstar should have gone down this route with the opportunities to make in-game cash by having more emphasis on robbing the stores and shops, having a proper smash and dash heist, stealing and selling cars at the pay n sprays, and drug hustling all incorporated into the free roam itself.

One of the things shown on the 5 online gameplay trailer was a group of friends pulling up to the bank and having an impromptu robbery. That’s how GTA heists should have gone down; not some stupid elaborate scheme that has you stealing equipment from the military and using stupid electric bikes as getaway vehicles. Just steal a random car and rob the place with shotgun and rifle, grab the money and evade the police. They spent too much time trying to put some dramatic story to the heist when in reality most online players just wanted to run it out the bank like GTA IV Three Leaf Clover style or 1997 North Hollywood shootout style.

I love GTA online, I play it way too much but there definitely things that they went way overboard with when they should have kept it simple.

The amount of fun I've had in GTA 4 MP in the past is unforgettable. It was so fun and I don't remember hating it for any reason.

The most fun I ever had in GTAO was when I did frozen money glitches and got enough money to buy everything I wanted. And then drove around in passive mode to avoid the nonsense of being trolled and having to recover assets, or destroying someone else's and being penalized for it.

I miss IV MP. I don't miss GTAO and I haven't really played it in years since turning to GTA SP modding. It just wasn't all that fun vs IV MP which was.

Yes. GTA IV's multiplayer felt more fun and simple. There wasn't an economy where R* could make the gameplay frustrating enough to get you buy shark cards. The expression "more money more problems" describes the difference very well.

Only ever played it a few times back on the PS3, but it seemed to be more simplistic than Online, and in some ways that actually made for a more fun experience. Online has its fun times too but can feel very overwhelming at times even for veteran players.

GTA IV had some interesting game modes that weren't present in GTA Online and I was fun to play in official online mode before Rockstar cut GFWL from the game. I know they had their own reasons to cut it. Now we can play GTA IV online through fan clients for online gaming, but that's not like official. If I remember correctly, GTA IV had opportunity to use microphone that plugged to PC, GTA Online hasn't it.
