                                                                                    GTA Vice City Hard-Lined

       Vice City Hard-Lined is a mod that aims to make every mission difficult and/or frustrating, targeted towards passionate Vice City players and for those looking for a challenge.

                                                     The mission changes may vary to simple yet effective changes, all the way to reworks that make the mission almost unrecognizable.

MOD DETAILS:

* 36 Story missions made more difficult

* 21 Side missions made more difficult

* New Player models (Tommy is tired of these games)

* Difficult accessibility to powerful weapons or tools.

* Removed packages, bribes and natural weapon pickups as to remove easy advantage.

* Weapon nerfs.

* Tommy is more fragile.

* Save game anywhere (when not on a mission) by typing in the cheat code "PPP"

* Replays are a death wish now.

* Minor map changes to make them compatible to certain missions.

(Bare with me as the mod is new and contains LOTS of new heavy codes, you are guaranteed to find crashes or soft-locks that will be fixed if you report them all here.)

I was so focused on the GTA VI hype thread that I forgot that there are other forums here lol

Looking good from the trailer, I'll be sure to check it out

Ok so I tried the mod and couldn't beat the first mission (The Party) 

Enemy accuracy is really too high, can't go near them without getting my tires popped, you can keep the enemies there, but have them less accurate.

And dude, 20 seconds to get to pole position? Near impossible.

Thanks for playing.

Please download the new version v1.1. It fixes some major bugs and accuracy nerfs to the agents in The Party and other small nerfs to other missions. (There's no need to start a new game with the new version)

As for the time limit, I think it is entirely possible. I've been able to consistently beat it myself. Try killing all 4 agents right after you get dressed at Rafael's so that they won't surprise you when you need to take Mercedes to the pole position + be preapred with a fast vehicle.

I'll need more detailed answers. Did you install the mod exactly as told according to text file that comes with the mod? Does your Vice City game have any other modifications with it? (This includes limit adjusters that isn't "III.VC.SA.LimitAdjuster"

From where did you download the original Vice City? (Did you get the Steam version, or do you have the Definitive version?)

man, WTF is even that? you really expect someone to be able to go through so many chefs after having a fight with the first one on the rooftop (which have a ridiculous amout of HP even if he has armor, 9 shots from a shotgun barely killed him), have to carry lance, having 50HP, no guns and the chefs even have molotoves? how was that even a good idea? And its only the 2nd mission, let people have difficulty go up only after a few missions when they have guns or something. not going full extreme mode in the beginning.

 

And yeah, I know that's only the first version of the mod.

That's kind of the point of this mod, making every mission difficult with extreme measures. I fully expected people to struggle with the first missions. I've made sure that the first missions in the beginning are beatable with no weapons and armor, just knowing what to do and using what's given is enough.

Its fine if that's not what you were expecting or even be willing to play with, but I fully intended people to get mad over trying to beat the missions.

In the end, I had to install Visual C++ 2010 x64. However, I retried this mission several times before it succeeded. I tried every vehicle that exists, but they all disappeared after the transition. In the end, it was the admiral who really succeeded in this mission. it just needs to be timed well and precisely. Speaking of NPCs, the behavior is totally random. Sometimes they shot and sometimes the admiral's wheel was shot out. Many times I didn't understand it all, but in the end I did. AND it wasn't that hard after all.

I'm aware of the fact that vehicles might disappear after the transition and it is infact not intended. It usually happens when you park the vehicle extremely close to where the player and Mercedes spawn, and the player spawn inside the vehicle, causing the vehicle the disappear to prevent the player getting stuck. 

EDIT: Or a command that calls of the clearance of the nearby radius. I'll try to get that removed in the future patch.

Got to the Fastest Boat mission, managed to beat it after a couple dozen attempts, and then the game glitched out and stayed on om1, so I couldn't save or do anything else really. 

 

The mission changes so far were very interesting, Back Alley Brawl and Guardian Angels were tough, but this mission is just pure sh*te. The first part wasn't so bad, despite the BS npcs with more health than Tommy, M4s and 100% accuracy, I could still consistently beat this part.

But the  second part where you have to shoot the gang burrito so the driver gets out and you can steal it is pure RNG. First of all, it's way too bullet spongey, on my only successful attempt I think I wasted around 250 MP5 bullets just so I could fill up the scare meter. Then when you manage to stop it, if the cubans and haitians are near you you're screwed, they're probably gonna take the van before you. Not to mention that both the cubans and the haitians have gunners on their cars, also armed with M4s and 100% accuracy, who will immediately start shooting you once you stop the van. On top of that you have to deal with a 4 star wanted level and making sure that Lance doesn't get killed. And I think there's something wrong with the collision of the van and the boat, on multiple occasions it got launched in the air for some reason. 

 

TBH I don't think I'm gonna be playing this anymore, which is a shame, because as I said, the mission changes were really interesting. I was expecting the difficulty to be at least on par with Tightend Vice, but this just way too hardcore. I'll still probably watch a playthrough of this mod if it gets played by a streamer.

That's what I thought too.

and during mall shootout, the french guy took AGES to kill, I managed to kill him by blocking his path and drowning his car then getting a firetruck and running him over for such a long time.

Also to test this, I used NUTTERTOOLS cheat to see if whole 500 bullets from a minigun would kill him and guess what, it didn't.

I managed to beat mall shootout on my first try lol. I headshotted the french guy as soon as he got in his cheetah, I was even free to take his cheetah that drops molotovs every couple of seconds. Maybe I just got very lucky.

It still drops molotoves even after the mission? so that means that you can save the car in the garage

I see, thanks for the feedback. But to correct you, the accuracy of the Cubans and Haitians drops (Or atleast, it should. Never noticed if it's bugged) when you scare the driver of the Gang Burrito, as for Lance, he becomes collision proof and runs away as to prevent death, but I might aswell make him immune to damage.

I'll try to tone down the health of the enemies and vehicles in The Fastest Boat, as it is too much admittedly. The flying car being launched into air is something which I would try to fix. It was done on purpose as to prevent the car being stuck to an immovable point, i'll try to find other solutions.

That sounds like a bug or an oversight by me. He's not supposed to have infinite health. I'll fix it now.

v1.2 released.

Fixed major issue where the game wouldn't detect The Fastest Boat as being beaten, and thus not letting you progress/ not letting you save.

Also, made The Fastest Boat alot more easier. Made it much easier to beat both parts of this mission.

Made Back Alley Brawl alot less luck-reliant; made it slightly easier.

Fixed player's parked vehicles disappearing after the second cutscene in The Party (or atleast it happens much less frequently)

Fixed issue in Mall Shootout where the courier is immune to all damage until he gets into his car.

Yep, Fastest Boat is much better now and I didn't have any softlocks after beating the mission. But now I got stuck on sir yes sir, the worst part about that mission is that after escorting Cortez to the garage you have to take him back to the yacht while STILL having a 5 star wanted level. 

 

It would be nice if you could at least spawn an escape vehicle near the garage so that you could stand a chance against an infinite wave of fbi ranchers. I also noticed that Cortez' ai seems to break after collecting 2 clothing pickups, but this issue maybe isn't exclusive to this mission?

 

EDIT: I've finally beaten Sir yes sir after taking a break for a few days, I still think that the part where you have to take Cortez back to the yacht kinda sucks because you're screwed if you aren't in a vehicle once he parks the tank in the garage. Rub out seems very prone to freezing after entering Diaz' mansion, I haven't beaten it yet, but in the 6 or so attempts I tried it the game froze twice shortly after I entered the mansion. And sorry if I seem harsh on this mod, I actually think it's great and you've clearly put a lot of effort in creating it.

hello, when starting a new game, after Ken's phrase "where are you gonna do", a softlock occurs. Ken doesn't continue the sentence and doesn't get out of the car

 

 

 

the minimum screen resolution helped to solve the problem

I think this mod is just a head-scratcher, but there are a couple of comments about it: 1. I think that for additional missions bonuses are still needed, small ones, otherwise it turns out that there is no point in going through except for money (Example: For completing a police mission, give an additional 25% armor) You can also give the paramedic mission 25% health instead of running, which is in a compartment with moths would give 100% HP 2. Mission to help Diaz’s deal with the Cubans, I’m just quoting “Pain in my holey ass” since on this mission you need to spin all 360 degrees in order to save yourself/Diaz/Lance’s life, I still think we need to add a secret strategy here that will make it easier passage (yes, maybe I’m just a weak and low-skilled person, but 2 hours to complete the passage and all the failed attempts with different approaches to the passage really broke me) I think that you are great as an author, but at least two skins (Casual and red tracksuit are still unchanged) I think that in the next update we need to take care of those who have a monitor slightly larger than 4:3 and a resolution of 800x600 and add full-HD fonts/menus/map and hd, otherwise the developers don’t think so and force the player to do the assembly himself

I'll take your suggestion for the vehicle missions as a consideration. For now, I don't know.

I'm in the midst of nerfing some missions (And most importantly fixing some unintended behaviour in some missions). I'll do something about Guardian Angels.

About the resolution: Honestly, I wish I could, but i'm too dumb to delve and fix any issues regarding resolution. Probably something i'll look into in the far future.

Regarding the graphical part, I already made an assembly for Rob’s mod (link to the video, it lags due to obs, since at that time I had a rather weak laptop)
