GTA VI ""Leaks"" Analysis Thread Part II

Message added by Spider-Vice,

This topic is not about the legitimate September 2022 leaks for the game, but rather to analyse/discuss/mock/etc supposed "leaks" found on the Internet. From most likely fake maps, to images, and so on.

Thanks for understanding. Copyrighted/leaked content rules apply, posting any of the 2022 leaks here is not allowed.

Honestly, I think CCTV should mostly be utilized as an obstacle when we're trying to stealthily infiltrate a building or some restricted area.

The event triggered in the video is named "EVENT_COMMUNICATE_SEEN_PED_IN_RESTRICTED_AREA" so it may, as you suggest, be limited to restricted areas.

This makes me really hopeful for a urbex/rooftopping side quest. Blends in game mechanics like stealth, strength and agility & all in all player skill. As you said if the player is careless CCTV detects them and eventually triggers the police/fire department response. It’s strictly my opinion but I would find successfully climbing let’s say 30 tall structures way more fun and engaging than going around the map for nonsense like spaceship parts & letter scraps, especially in Vice City. They could even tie it together with the social media mechanic for what it’s worth.

Agreed. Perhaps the "Cut the power to disable CCTV" optional task in GTAO becomes a core mechanic in VI's robberies too.

The other use I think it can have in VI would be for like if we rob a store without a mask, we come back to that same store a few days later and the staff recognize us and try to make us leave the store by calling the police or something.

Many, many times by now. :p I do think CCTV is gonna be a factor, a heavy one even, on Wanted levels. But it likely won't bother players if they're not performing a crime. Just if they're being searched for.

The leaked footage that shows the CCTV stuff has police chatter going off as it detects Jason, so...

I've been going back recently, looking at old post announcement GTA V speculation, re watching old GTA V o'clock, etc. And there was a lot of speculation about CCTV back then, too (granted there were no leaks to fuel it or strongly suggest it) die to CCTV being seen in some artwork, etc.

A lot of pre release speculation always ends up wrong or not as big or important as we suspect or hope. So I'm being careful here, this time. BUt I sure hope it's more important.  More depth and reason for tactical gameplay is a very good thing! Here's hoping! 🤞🤞

It seems like just a bunch of speculation. Anybody familiar with the track record of this "insider"? The Game Awards are a wild take, thats for sure lol

I mean Sony have had partnerships with Rockstar before so it wouldn’t be surprising.

Trailer 2 at the game awards is probably nonsense though.

As I said in another thread that's out there dedicated to this, it's not gonna happen. They didn't even do that for RDR2 and the PS4 Pro. There's a rumour like this every time R* has a new upcoming game and a new console or refresh is coming.

Rockstar prize their own marketing a lot - short of placing PS and Sony logos in some of their trailers, they like control, not signing it off to a console manufacturer.

tl;dr: why are you believing GameRant

So this "insider" has said that Sony has the GTA VI marketing rights, something which anyone of could've predicted in 2018, and that the second trailer might appear during The Game Award's, but he isn't sure of this.

He's full of sh*t.

Every time we get someone saying R* is gonna have a trailer sponsored by Sony at The Game Awards, it's never happened

Marketing rights isn't the same thing as marketing preference, or paying to have their logos in trailers or w/e. Rockstar will always do their own thing first and foremost, and they'll always be the ones releasing trailers first with no mention of any platform.

These have been fake leaks for over a decade at this point, and they've never been legitimate.

Marketing rights and how significant they are differ from game to game. For AAA releases, they usually aren't much more than the platform being tagged at the end of trailers as well as the platforms social media accounts posting about it. That's cause these AAA studios like to market things on their own terms especially nowadays, and R* have marketed their games on their own terms since forever as we all know. They don't like to share the stage.

But yea they aren't some huge deal for AAA games.

Speaking of marketing rights, this reminds me that the second RDR2 trailer has two versions on YouTube, I hope this doesn't happen again in VI.

That happened because one of them was used as a Youtube advertisement - those that show on other videos. Those yes will have a Sony logo, and that's all that "marketing rights" means between Sony and R*.

Why exactly? It's better than using the main trailer as an ad.

Sony will post deez nuts trailer at The Game Awards, running at native 4K in the PS5 Pro.

By the way, isn't this GameRant that website which keeps stealing content from r/RedDeadRedemption?

Why did people gravitate to what this Liam guy has to say? Has he gotten things right before?

Liam knew about the incoming Trailer announcement last November a few hours before Jason Schreier’s article. How he received this information exactly is unknown. A dev could have told him directly, or he may have heard it from somebody else who has a source themselves.

Other than that, nothing. Liam is my friend, but he’s for sure had a few blunders. He’s claimed that FiveM was coming to consoles in October, before deleting the tweet and apologising. Trailer 2 was coming in April (though that was cleared up and resolved fairly quickly - wasn’t as bad as that sounds).

I personally don’t think that Liam is the kind of person to lie maliciously. Though it is entirely possible that something was misinterpreted or misunderstood. We just have to wait until other reputable sources give their two cents.

He's claiming we're gonna know early as tomorrow, I posted his tweet but it must be approved first. For now it's 2025.

In all fairness, there were close to a dozen people earlier in the day firing off warning shots before Schreier’s article was posted that night.  In reference to December.

i assume jason will contact his own sources at r* and then will either corroborate the report or he’ll say that this report is not is completely true/certain while also providing clarity on the situation similar to the whole ordeal with the kotaku article

Yep.

If we hear nothing from anybody else, then it hasn’t been delayed. The game being given a whole new release year is massive news, there is no way that a reputable outlet such as Bloomberg doesn’t hear anything about it themselves.

Ok, it seems Schreier does not want to comment that

Or there’s nothing for him to comment on which isn’t a bad thing
