GTA VI ""Leaks"" Analysis Thread Part II

We did it everybody! We survived the drought between very obvious fake leaks, to legitimate leaks that have surprised us multiple times now. This thread is a sequel to the previous analysis thread, and will follow the same objective as the previous: we are here to discuss "leaks". This will not be a hub to share legitimately leaked footage, such as the infamous 90 videos from last year, and I'd like to be clear this time that this thread's goal is really to collect and scrutinize leaks whether they come from 4chan, Reddit, or other notable places. Depending on the scope of a "leak", I'll bring it to the OP of the thread and consolidate our points/thoughts.

December 7th 2023 VidLii Leak - Likely Fake

 

Onto the first new "leak" coming from the wonderful place that is Reddit, where for some reason the GTA6 subreddit overfilled so they made a new one (sigh). Well, first "leak" to be posted in this thread. OOP discovered something quite intriguing on an obscure video-sharing site called VidLii. It's like a clone of early YouTube, down to the yellow "Subscribe" button and the 5-star rating system. 

 

 

For preservation of OOP's claims, I've pasted them here in the spoiler below:

So there’s this YouTube-like website called VidLii, and while stumbling around on there I discovered a channel that was named “RockstarGames”. When I checked the profile, it was made within the last 24 hours, but the videos I saw were interesting. They uploaded the official the GTA 6 trailer, and they also uploaded this unreleased trailer for the PS5, supposedly it’s a work in progress and set to release in February. I also found 2 videos of the music of the GTA 6 trailers, Trailer 1’s music, but there’s also a music video for the second trailer, which is supposedly releasing November 2024. Very interesting finds, not sure if someone uploaded these to here as leaks, or if these videos were uploaded by a legitimate Rockstar employee, but either way I find this very interesting.

 

What’s even crazier is that in both of the music videos for the two trailers, there is are two dates. One date is a release date, when the trailer is supposed to come out. In the Trailer 1 video, there is a date of “DECEMBER 5 2023” which is when that trailer was supposed to be released, but it got leaked and ended up being released a day earlier. In Trailer 2’s video, the date is “NOVEMBER 12 2024” , so perhaps that’s when the second trailer for GTA 6 is supposed to come out. I also saw in both videos more dates that read “010/021/2022” in Trailer 1’s ideo, as well as “01/03/02023” for Trailer 2’s video. I think that’s when those videos were made, which would be crazy since they basically had the logo and planned out the trailer so long ago. It also says property of rockstar games and TTWO (Take-Two Interactive), so this pretty much confirms that these videos came from Rockstar internally.

 

What do you guys think? I will let the community investigate this to determine the legitimacy of these finds.

 

This is quite intriguing. December 4th will live on in infamy as the day that a whole Rockstar Games trailer was leaked hours ahead of its intended release. We still don't know what/who made this happen, but one point of speculation has been an exploitation of the YouTube premiere system, where a creator uploads a video ahead of its release window and schedules it. Whether it was some rogue YouTube or Rockstar employee, we'll never know. This would no doubt erode trust, so Rockstar Games is releasing their videos on a trusted platform we've all heard of, called VidLii.

 

Now that you've contained your laughter at such a statement, let's party like it's 2008 and take a look at these videos. 

 

- The first uploaded video is simply called "Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1", and its description pretty much copies the YT upload description, as well as the official press information on GTA VI. Because this is like old YouTube, the video quality is like old YouTube. It's little more than a reupload of the original trailer, and little more can be said.

- The second, "Grand Theft Auto VI: Official PlayStation 5 Trailer", is purportedly the PS5 version of the first trailer. It manages to be a few seconds shorter, features the PS5 bumpers used in advertisements... poorly. It's not well-edited and I hope the Sony creator in charge has been sacked, as I don't exactly see Rockstar themselves doing this. After all, they're the guys who made the original GTA VI trailer, and it's really well done. Video description looks like the video was meant to be private, and it just accidentally leaked on VidLii. Rockstar really needs to hire a plumber at some point.

- The third video, titled "Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 [RELEASE 2024] [MUSIC]", is little more than a snippet of copyrighted music purportedly intended for the second trailer of the game. It's only a minute and thirty-one seconds. I'm gonna come back to this a bit later in the post.

- The most recent video "Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1 [RELEASE 2023] [MUSIC]" seals the deal in confirming the intent of this channel: Rockstar uploads snippets of the music they're going to use, then refers back to this channel when they can't remember what music they're gonna use.

With Rockstar Games on VidLii, we learn that they are 23 years old... despite just celebrating their 25th anniversary. Is Rockstar stupid? Anyway, all of these uploads provide absolutely no new info, the inconsistent "formatting" in the video descriptions reeks of amateurism rather than a genuine mistake from the professionals, and they loop back to one theme that has been unfortunately consistent in fake/desperate leaks for a long time - the attraction to "That's All" by Genesis. For anyone stumbling down this rabbit hole for the first time, this is nothing new. In a prior "leak" on 4chan, dated 23 Aug 2022, it spelled out details of the first trailer a year ahead of its release.

 

 

Now that the first trailer is out, let's line it up against these points:

 

1. Yeah... sorta.

2. Turns out Rockstar changed their minds thanks to this person and their co-worker on Discord

3. Not at all

4. Eh... the trailer's pretty diverse with what it shows, even if it's not a ton of the map yet.

5. I find this point the most intriguing because it's similar to the social media videos that come up during the trailer. We also get scenes from the media and police cameras. Other than that, I'd write this off as coincidental.

6. Tom Petty's drummer struck this one down, on top of the fact there wasn't a private jet flying toward the city at sunset, a la V's trailer. oh but the logo and estimated release date were dead on, like anyone could have called that.

 

At this point, it's gotta be a running joke that this one song is a must-have in the GTA VI Leaks Starter Pack. I think I saw the song brought up in a few other GTA VI "leaks", but I can't be bothered to dig them up. For now, That's All.

You basically get to choose how they interact with eachother, but that's mostly to do with whether or not their relationship is romantic. She's not a "strong female lead" like how you're used to. We sort of looked at older movies for examples to follow, specifically sarah conner in terminator. She's the smarter one, but she's also brash and impulsive. Most of the chaotic desicions come from her. Jason doesn't just follow her around like a lost puppy though. Most of the plans are initiated by him. It's Lucia who works out the flaws and makes them better. We're trying to drive home how much of a team they can be when they're not being dysfunctional with eachother. The reason we decided to end the game "canonically" (good ending) with them reuniting their family instead of how the previous one ended (by them taking a massive score) is because we wanted to show how the more important thing for them was their relationship. The money was a means of getting their son back and escaping from their past, but it needs to be earned by making hard decisions in the story.
 

Yes originally there were two more characters. The plan was to have a team of four, with a midgame shake up where one of the two dirty cops dies because of a decision lucia and jason made. Then the rest of the game story is about the remaning cop hunting them down. It got way to convoluted at some point, though. Around the time where we introduced John as their son, we decided to ditch the idea of the four and just stick with jason and lucia. It was who basically everyone liked more anyways and the story of them reuniting with their son is better than the simple bonnie and clyde story we were going to go with

Still in the very early stages of development, though, it'll probably be 2030 when it comes out. Not joking. The higher ups are talking about doing the face scanning stuff again, but making it insane. They want it to be the best looking game ever made

You can, but the other character WILL find out about it and it will essentially tank the relationship to where you probably wont be able to recover back into being romantic by the time story concludes, so you'll be locked into the two platonic endings. Also we toyed around with the idea of, if one of them cheats, then if you have the ending where one survives, the one who got cheated on kills the other and the player doesn't get a choice to stop it. Most of us thought that was too restrictive for players, but we all agreed that we would kill the cheater character in our own playthroughs (i mean, most of us probably wouldn't go that route anyways. I can't state enough how much we all like the canon ending)

There will be men prostitutes, too. It wouldn't be fair if only one of the characters was able to cheat. We want to give players full agency over both of them
 

Lol. You can just do that in the online.
On top of prostitutes, though, originally we had two stranger plotlines, one for each of the characters, that involved a potential rival love intrest that gives you the option to cheat. But because this was such a massive choice, it ended up being adopted into the main story and is essentially the centerpoint of the game where the two of them are tempted away from eachother. Cheating there, will lock you into platonic, but staying together and not cheating doesn't lock you out of any of the ending. Also, I'll mention, it's much much easier to tank them into platonic than it is to keep them romantic. Literally all you have to do is cheat once and it breaks their relationship almost completely (I think the values are something like +5 points for each date you go on, -150 for cheating. I'm not too clear on the balance of that, that's another department's responsibility. Sidequests and dates and stuff impact this but all a small amount. Majority of that value is detemined by the main story)

Canonically they're in love (although pretty dysfunctional) and their sole purpose is to get their son back and escape to tahiti (lol not actually Tahiti)

Last thing I'll mention is the dates you can go on.
They range from small things like going to a drive in theater or getting fast food, to large things like entire days out at the amusment park or going mudding. There's always playful banter between them, but if you're on a date, generally it will increase the romantic side of the scale. It's hard to intentionally f*ck up dates, theyre made to be a more relaxing and cute part of the game to contrast with the main story where you're killing people left and right and pulling off heists or whatever. My favorite date out of the ones we've made was a camping trip date where you can climb to the top of the mountain in the bottom left corner of the map on foot together
We want you to really fall in love with these characters and ideally we want you to want them to be in love story wise. The platonic choices in the game are intresting, too, but most of us feel like it pales in comparison to the "canon" route where they fix their dysfunctional relationship and end up becoming a real family at the end

Most likely the upcoming GTAO DLC. I remember when Criminal Enterprises came out I saw it advertised in cinemas, likely the same with this DLC.

I love seeing more people talk about "Place Beyond the Pines" as I saw it when it came out, but rarely saw it discussed until the past couple of years or so. It'd be interesting seeing Jason and Lucia riding a sports car up into the back of a box truck as opposed to a bike, which alone is why I discount the post. As for "70% interiors" being partially true, how can something be completely 70% and only partly 70% at the same time?

With Rockstar Games on VidLii, we learn that they are 23 years old... despite just celebrating their 25th anniversary. Is Rockstar stupid? Anyway, all of these uploads provide absolutely no new info, the inconsistent "formatting" in the video descriptions reeks of amateurism rather than a genuine mistake from the professionals, and they loop back to one theme that has been unfortunately consistent in fake/desperate leaks for a long time - the attraction to "That's All" by Genesis. For anyone stumbling down this rabbit hole for the first time, this is nothing new. In a prior "leak" on 4chan, dated 23 Aug 2022, it spelled out details of the first trailer a year ahead of its release.

 

 

Now that the first trailer is out, let's line it up against these points:

 

1. Yeah... sorta.

2. Turns out Rockstar changed their minds thanks to this person and their co-worker on Discord

3. Not at all

4. Eh... the trailer's pretty diverse with what it shows, even if it's not a ton of the map yet.

5. I find this point the most intriguing because it's similar to the social media videos that come up during the trailer. We also get scenes from the media and police cameras. Other than that, I'd write this off as coincidental.

6. Tom Petty's drummer struck this one down, on top of the fact there wasn't a private jet flying toward the city at sunset, a la V's trailer. oh but the logo and estimated release date were dead on, like anyone could have called that.

 

At this point, it's gotta be a running joke that this one song is a must-have in the GTA VI Leaks Starter Pack. I think I saw the song brought up in a few other GTA VI "leaks", but I can't be bothered to dig them up. For now, That's All.
