About crouching i think that you have to check "classic" control in original PC version, not "standard" control

7 days to go...I wonder if we'll get any announcement from Rockstar prior to release.

Doubtful, but who knows.

Who knows? I mean they totally ignored ability to crouch in original mobile port of VC.

I could have sworn it was always mapped to double tapping the left side of the screen (on the "control stick") like it is in SA mobile, but just went back to check and you're right. You have to resort to some sort of mod on Android, while iOS users like myself seem to be SoL. I can't even get it to work by clicking the left stick on my Backbone One. So, did they just forget about the feature entirely for whatever reason? Grove Street Games, those bustahs! :starekek:

Speaking of controllers, one thing that has always interested me about the original mobile ports is that SA on iOS specifically is based on the OG Xbox/DE Modern Alt control scheme, where you use the triggers for driving (I had one of those early iPhone gamepads back when the game launched, I'm pretty sure it was the Moga Ace Power). The Android version uses the original PS2 control scheme, as do III and VC on both iOS and Android (I used to play them a lot on the NVIDIA Shield Portable. I really liked that handheld, it was my go-to emulation device until the PS Vita homebrew scene kicked into high gear. Shame that they never released that prototype Tegra X1 successor, but I digress).

Hopefully the new versions let you switch between the different button mappings like the console/PC versions do.

No.

Hopefully yes, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

This is the same company that refuses to bring E&E and RDR1 over to PC. The same one that, for some reason I can't quite put my finger on, refuses (or is somehow unable) to release their games on PC on day one (on top of keeping the existence of said version in the dark, as if it's an earth-shattering, Area 51-tier secret). Exclusivity of any kind just runs in Rockstar's blood at this point.

Perhaps someone could extract the Android APKs' contents so we could see some of the changes via modding the PC versions (e.g. "simpler" things such as textures, or the new skyboxes). Other than that; if any changes from the mobile versions are officially coming to consoles/PC, I wouldn't expect them as soon as the 14th (if ever).

I just checked SteamDB, and on the update history of all three games it says this:

"Changed Categories

   Removed Full Controller Support"

Does anyone know what it means?

Could it be related the RGL? Does that support controllers (the launcher itself, not the in-game Social Club features), or is a keyboard and mouse required to log in?

I really hope the other versions get a patch next week. Please!

I'm hoping so. It would just be rubbing salt in the wound at this point if they improved the games for this release and didn't bother to update the existing versions, especially as the majority of the player base won't be playing them on Netflix.

Guys, any news about system requirements for Android? It would be a bummer if it requires a high end phone.

iOS 16 was released just last year (i.e. you'd need the second-most recent version of the OS at minimum to run the games). As for the actual devices, the oldest ones on the list were all released in 2018. Going by that, chances are Android users will need Android 13 or newer, as well as a device made in 2018 at the earliest. I'm sure you'll technically be able to sideload the APKs on older Android OSs and/or devices, but I doubt the games will be able to run very well, if they even boot at all.

Remember that original version of GTAIII & Vice City are not compatible with Android 13... and i think that will be removed soon from stores

Also that mobile version of trailer is the same trailer of PC & console versions... It's strange

Yeah they just reused the original trailer but edited it down. Interesting to note that Rockstar themselves haven't said anything yet about these releases (please correct me if I'm mistaken), although in fairness they are probably busy riding the high with the GTA VI trailer release right now.

We'll see what happens on the 14th.

It never ends LOL

I am typically a lurker, but as a life-long fan of this franchise, it is sad how some of the "online personalities" people follow for this game are now a bunch of "ha, gotcha!" individuals who are obsessed with the idea that Rockstar and Take-Two are here to purposely screw the fans, and are farming clicks and views on that premise. This level of conspiracy theory seeking is as sad as the current political scene.
In this case, we are now looking at screenshots of the mobile versions of the DE, and somehow creating outrage because the publisher is adding button prompts on a bunch of images from the game, which is an extremely common practice in the gaming industry. Now, just because of that, we have to endure the comments of people saying "Wow, I knew that Rockstar is messing with us", and blablablabla.
I hope people will one day realize that these companies are just businesses that are here to make money and customers should take that relationship as emotionless as it can be, instead of constantly looking for reasons to get mad about anything.
I can only assume that Netflix paid very good money to have exclusivity of these games (even if timed, and we don't know that), considering how much Epic paid to have games like GTA V temporarily free on their store. If Take-Two got paid a ton of money for it, there is a good chance that these games received a decent number of updates, and the mobile versions could really be the "definitive" ports. It is undeniable that with all the GTA VI hype, and the fact that these games will be available to 240+ million people (Netflix had around 247.2 million paid subscribers worldwide as of the third quarter of 2023), this could be a much bigger deal than people think. Even if Take-Two commissioned 1 year of bug fixes and improvements, it could be a game-changer. A big, fat check from Netflix could be the biggest motivator to finally get the DE, at least on mobile, up to where it should be.
Regardless, we will find out next week.

I've been a fan of Rockstar Games since 1997 when I first played GTA1 on my PS1

As a fan, I gotta admit, The Definitive Edition was and still is really bad, and it's not even Rockstar's fault - they were never interested in remakes and remasters, or we would have seen a lot of them by now, so it's not even about the money

And yes, Take 2 is a business. Rockstar is a business, too, but they are passionate about what they do. They always have been. I talked to a couple of R* veterans (both important figures in the company even tho they left after working there for years now) and they are some of the coolest, most inspiring persons I had the pleasure to talk with

Of course this will make them some money on the side, but neither this version nor the Definitive Edition ones were made by Rockstar. This one is handled by Netflix and the other one by Grove Street Games (formerly, War Drum Studios) who was already known for their lack of care regarding older San Andreas ports

Thing is, Rockstar should be pretty mad about this. GTA's networth is in the Billions and marketing is very important, something that Netflix is failing at at the moment. I worked as a social media marketing employee for a relatively small tuning company (we made exhausts for exotic and sports cars like Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, etc...) and if I took "screenshots" like these for all my customers to see, my boss would be rightly mad at me for such a lazy job. Marketing is the lifeblood of business, after all

So yeah, there really is no excuse for this, and I'm pretty sure Rockstar would have been like, "What the f*ck, Netflix?"

And if, even though jokingly, we criticize Rockstar, it's because we know they're awesome and want the best for them, so it's right to complain when they make an oopsie - and I repeat, it's not even their fault here :)

So let me get this straight.. The original games were ported from PS2 to PC. They were then ported from PC to mobile. Then modified to make the definitive edition and ported from mobile back to PC, PS5, switch etc. Then ported from switch to f*cking Netflix? Yes I have no doubt these games enjoy a quality, stable, and bug free release.

They probably did just use the Switch versions as a base for the new Mobile ports, heck they left the touch controls for the radio, and for helicopters(In VC only, in San Andreas the bottom middle of the screen lets you steer cars LOL) available to use on the touchscreen in the Switch version, just hidden and shoved to the bottom. Can even still tap the minimap to load the pause menu. Excited to see Jurhpol: when I get Jackpot! at the slots machines in San Andreas still be there for some reason

You speak as if you already have access to these games.

I'm talking about the Switch versions. They also have touchscreen support. I don't plan on buying or playing the mobile ports. I'm only assuming that the mobile versions are based off the Switch versions.

Even worse, you forgot the PS3/360 remaster.

PS2 to PC (and Xbox). Then PC to mobile. Then mobile to Xbox 360 / PS3. And that version apparently got used as a base for the "Definitive Edition" (since many of the bugs and issues that got introduced in that version are also featured in the DE).
