Nope

There is no way to play original ps2 ports on ps4? As I know they were deleted from store after definitive edition release.

And one of the reason I want to play definitive is - better control on dualsense controller

I will say it's good they're patching it, but I wish the shoddy starting release shouldn't have had to happen in the first place. For what it's worth, it was useful to be able to play VC and III for the first time. I did enjoy that at least.

We don't know if they are still patching it... I don't think so...

Ignoring the fact that it is three years overdue, the way E&E has been handled on PC (a free upgrade with the option to continue playing the 2015 version) has left me thinking: just why could R* not be arsed do something similar with the Trilogy and add the OGs to the libraries of existing DE owners (at least on Steam, RGL and PlayStation)?

It still frustrates me to no end how dead set they are on forcing their “better than they were at launch, but still deeply flawed” mobile ports down the throats of everyone outside of their own PC storefront.

Welp. See you guys when the next patch drops in 2027.

real shame they seem to have abandoned the definitive editions all together and acting like they fixed now smh. These games still need so many fixes

They probably figured that it would be a proof of their failure as most players would rather play the OGs instead. :sadkek:

Hope this means that more patches are on the way for TDE. Last year's update was a really good first step, would be a massive shame to stop there.

If anything it could mean the opposite, as these guys are now being brought into the main R* fold and are probably gonna work on their main big projects instead, or things like a GTA IV re-release if that's a thing.

It would be nice to have a team within R* dedicated solely to updating/maintaining legacy titles. But yeah, as @Spider-Vice said; it's just as possible that VGD/R* Australia will simply become another cog in the machine that is R*'s worldwide/studio-wide "all hands on deck" workflow (I'm not trying to undermine what each branch of R* does when I say this, I just couldn't find a better way to word it). Remember when some of us thought Ruffian Games was going to be helming the DE and/or E&E when they were rebranded as R* Dundee? :sadkek:

R*'s track record with this kind of thing is why I honestly hope that T2 doesn't end up acquiring Double Eleven any time soon. If R* is going to be outsourcing rereleases of their legacy titles anyway, I'd rather the task be given to a team that we already know can do excellent work; I really hope D11 gets the chance to work on GTA IV (ideally not neglecting platforms where an older version of the game is available this time around. It still bugs me that RDR1 remains locked at 30FPS on Xbox).

Why the hell does R* need so many studios anyways? For a company that releases like 4 products a year max they sure do swallow as many teams as possible. Obviously it hasn't helped them be more efficient!

I agree. In fact, they have only three games that you can safely play and not encounter significant errors, plus they are great for modern hardware and OS. GTA4 is available on PC, but there is no desire to play this technical misunderstanding. Some games are not available on modern consoles at all.
YES, it is possible to install a fan fix, BUT I paid for these games and I just want to install and play quietly. There are smaller studios that try to maintain an acceptable technical condition of all the games they have. There is GOG, who also supports old games, rockstar avoids all this. And besides GTA 5, there are no other games with constant support. And this small team would be perfect for this kind of work!

One more big update from them could really fix most of the problems TDE still have, oh well what can we do.

Unless R* ever swallows their pride and relists the originals, I'd be willing to power on through whatever mobile port jank still remains if R* Australia was at least allowed to go back and change the character models before officially halting all work on the DE (add a classic models toggle if absolutely necessary).

Says who? They dropped the last patch after 2 full years of radio silence.

We don't know for sure one way or another, the last patch certainly took pretty much everyone by surprise.

That said, there was a reputable insider who claimed (and I'm paraphrasing) that the patch had been done a long time ago and just left unreleased (I think due to the changing of hands behind the scenes), and that work on the games had ceased.

On the other hand, Rockstar Support have claimed in responses to raised issues that they are actively working on a patch.

I'm not expecting another one, but then again nobody expected the November one either so never say never.

The issue is in the past Rockstar studios have started work on projects, only for management to shut them down and redirect their efforts to the latest GTA release, or more recently RDR 2.

Agent, Bully 2, The untitled Medieval game are all projects Rockstar have canned in favour of pouring their resources into their cash cows.
