Even prior to VGD’s updates, I’ve seen a lot of people happily defend all of the DE glitches because “yeah, they’re buggy, but so were the originals”. They were, fair enough; and true, those bugs were never enough to ruin the games. But the only (non-RGL) versions available today are being labeled as the “Definitive Editions”. Surely they shouldn’t be any glitchier than the originals. If anything, they should be the most polished, well-optimized iteration of the Trilogy to date. But nope. Thanks to using GSG’s sloppy mobile ports as the basis, on top of being a rushed Holiday cash-grab to begin with, they are somehow far buggier than the originals ever were. I’ll echo what @MeatSafeMurderer said: I’ll never not be bitter that re3/reVC (and, dare I say, a good chunk of the SP modding community in general) died for this “20th anniversary celebration”. :starekek:
 

That said, since VGD’s (hopefully ongoing), fixes are finally on consoles/PC, I’m not necessarily opposed to playing the DE. But it’s certainly not worth the “commercially accurate” $60 retail price. Even E&E is $40 when not on sale, and GTAO is R*’s cash cow! How the Trilogy and RDR1 are more expensive than that is beyond me. Despite the new updates, on a fundamental level, these are still decade-old mobile ports (which initially cost ~$5-6 each, IIRC…) that were hastily brought over to a new engine and are riddled with far more issues than the original games; they should be priced accordingly. The $23.99 Black Friday discount on PSN (i.e $8 per game) is a much more reasonable ask. Hopefully R* matches that on PC when Steam’s Autumn sale starts on Wednesday.

Yes, the DE is definitely not worth the full price. I've bought it on Thursday for 23.99 Euro on the Xbox store for my Series X. With the recent update I'd say they're still inferior to the OG version on many levels, still have issues that weren't there in the OG version and still lack graphical/environmental assets and effects that should be there, but getting them for 24 bucks is okay (after the update - they wouldn't be worth 5 bucks if that update never existed).

From what I've seen, the Trilogy has become acceptable after this most recent patch I guess, but why exactly this don't have physical copies for the PS5 and XSX versions anyway?

Xbox at least has Smart Delivery, so the Series X versions will download if you insert the disc in your XSX, and vice-versa for XB1. PS5 doesn’t seem to have a similar feature anymore (it was a thing early on in the cross-gen period, but even then, it was only on a case-by-case basis. For example, Horizon Forbidden West didn’t support PS4-to-PS5 upgrades until people called Sony out on it, IIRC).
 

As for why R*/T2 never bothered to release physical PS5 copies, it’s probably because the DE was never meant to be anything more than a lazy cash grab, so they never saw a point in pressing anything beyond PS4 and Xbox (the latter of which again, has Smart Delivery to account for cross-gen releases). Whatever the reason, it was a dumb move in hindsight, but it doesn’t surprise me.

If they truly are committed to fixing these games surely they would be reading reports from everywhere... You shouldn't have to shout into their void for there to even be a sliver of a chance for them to listen to you.

 

You know what would be good for this? Having a PR representative to actually talk DIRECTLY to the community about what is acknowledged and what isn't like a sane developer. Everywhere from smaller devs to companies like EA do this, so I don't know why its so foreign for Rockstar. I shouldn't have to go through their sh*tty support system for them to be aware. As we speak, over on Doomworld there's a bug report thread on the new Doom I + II remaster that came out a while ago and an actual developer is there responding to them. This is a product from another billion dollar publisher, Zenimax Media, with a game being developed by a small team, much like this. Now explain to me why we can't have the same thing?

That's normal because some Kex developers are registered in Doomworld forums... (they are also on Discord, but not Rockstar) but there are still a lot of problems in DooM + DooM II port (and i have to start DooM Zero because of the 3.0 version released finally in that port...)

Yeah, R* is just embarrassing when it comes to how poorly and infrequently they communicate in general. I have no idea why they can’t be arsed to rectify this; or, for that matter, why people give them a pass on keeping the fans in the dark for months/years on end, whereas any other dev/publisher (regardless of size) would rightfully be called out on it.
 

The community updates are nice, I guess, but aside from a few outliers (revealing that development for GTA VI was fully underway in 2022, announcing that E&E is coming to PC next year), they are pretty much entirely geared towards GTAO. They’re also quite infrequent.
 

R* really needs to improve in this regard. Silence doesn’t give them an aura of intrigue like they’d want you to believe; it’s just unprofessional and frustrating at this point. They’re a billion dollar company, not some tiny, underfunded indie studio. Surely they have enough resources…

Rest assured, our team has been made aware of this & they are actively working on a patch to address this issue. As soon as we find a solution, we will publish an update.'

Checked a little bit more of SA, original game has a code to play water sounds near fountains. This code is slightly different in DE, and it doesn't work. Fountains have no sound. I checked the ones near the casino, maybe anybody can confirm that some other fountains have sounds?

 

Also, when reaching LV on a jet pack in the beginning of the game with cheat, LV peds insta spawn and despawn at certain camera range.

 

Also, cullzones are completely broken. When raining, try going under the roof of CJ's house, or inside Pay'n'Spray(while aiming weapon), or under some buildings in downtown area, rain particles appear inside the area where the rain should not be visible.

It's a bit redundant since there's no zone you need to escape. The flashing radar is another way of telling you the police knows your position but in the 3D era they always know where you are at all times.

I've noticed the Rain glitch in VC as well. If you go into the mall area by the start of game it will appear you are covered and Not getting rained on. While rotating the camera it will start showing rain where your standing depending on the angle. Also if you go to his Mansion that he gets later on in the game there's rain collision issues there too. I was standing under the roof on the right side corner by the steps when facing the road and When I looked up I wasn't actually standing under it. I was a good ways a way and It was still saying I was sheltered.

It's funny you mentioned this because DE absolutely f*cked up when adding this by touching where it didn't need to and screwing up the weapon order. I would love to just use the scroll wheel to use the weapons like in vanilla but when they're in totally different slots for no reason it screws up my muscle memory and makes it so I HAD to use the weapon wheel. "Feel of the originals" my ass... how is this fair?

Even on the less graphically impressive Switch it makes a huge difference, I keep going around comparing and the classic lighting looks great, especially with the added distance fog. 

 

Anyone getting any updates by the way? Just seen someone on reddit with a 100MB update for San Andreas, could that be RGL or is it too big?
