Trilogy Definitive Edition OUT NOW on Mobile via Netflix - Updated on All Platforms

No, lol. The mobile version of LCS had and has a plethora of issues. It's just that nobody noticed because it was LCS and on mobile.

 

Initially, the textures were composed of GTA 3 textures and textures that were straight up stolen from the modding community. In a patch they changed it to be "original" but much worse looking textures, with GTA 3 textures still mixed in. You can still see this on the Head Radio building with how it uses the GTA 3 logo instead of the LCS one. They also completely botched some billboards in hilarious ways. I'll never be able to find the photo myself but there's one where they photoshopped Toni's head on a woman model on a billboard texture, I'm not kidding.

 

The textures on some characters are also extremely off. They used "photorealistic" material on some of them which makes some characters look super uncanny:

It's just my opinion because I finished LCS on both PS 2 and iOS. As a casual gamer, I wasn't aware of the scandals and bugs back then. It just looked cleaner than it looked on PS 2, so that is what I base my opinion on.

Now I’m sad. I want to install version 1.00 and try to track that billboard down, but I don’t have a jailbroken iPhone anymore. :bruh:
 

EDIT: Scratch that. Completely forgot that I do have an old iPhone 5 and 5th Gen iPod Touch, but I doubt LCS supports iOS 6. I’m pretty sure I have a dualboot set up on both, though, so I could probably try a newer iOS if push comes to shove.

Rockstar Support asked me for a video of this bug and in trying to recreate it, I found that it seems to occur somewhat randomly. Sometimes the barrel of the minigun is visible but not attached to the rest of the weapon, other times the barrel is missing completely, and other times it's attached as expected, so quite an odd bug. I'd be curious if this is the case for any other Switch users?

 

I've forwarded video onto Rockstar Support so hopefully, if VGD are indeed working on another update, it may be addressed.

We wouldn't be missing much, multiplayer was extremely rudimentary and it didn't make the cut on PS2 (and on mobile for LCS). It's not like RDR1 where we lost a genuinely good and fun MP mode, I think nobody would care about playing LCS / VCS MP.

I think there's no need to be picky about these 2 games, it'd be a miracle if we got native PC / console versions... Personally I would close 1 eye and a half, even something like Trilogy DE day one would be acceptable if it meant LCS and VCS are natively playable.

VCS soundtrack and technical aspects aside, I wonder if the content of LCS and VCS has also been a roadblock. Rockstar pushed the boundary quite a bit with these 2 games, LCS in particular follows the story of a complete maniac that sometimes is more suited for Manhunt. VCS is not on the same level, but things like the "Little Lacy Surprise" commercials are probably something that today's Rockstar would never do.

Domestic abuse and the confederacy also play a unusually large role. For being a GTA game, VCS definitely could be oddly serious at times.

Because that pedestrian is WFYST from San Andreas with a slightly different head. If I know this, Lucid Games really should have, lol.

If anyone is still wondering how much still needs fixed in the Trilogy of games here's a link to over 100 problems still needing work after the update.

 

 

I've watched this and This isn't even half of what I sent Rockstar Support. A lot of features and Broken animations weren't mentioned. As Rockstar did fix a lot of Big and Annoying things. There's still a lot of Big things left and Probably around 400+ things that need fixed still. From Big to Really Small. 

 

A YouTuber I recommend watching does videos just for finding what things need fixed in the Trilogy. As taking those problem videos and Making Videos on what they fixed in them.

He's made 505 problems so far and Currently working on 606. He has done 3 comparison videos since the latest patch. Going over the 303 problems. Still needing to go over 202 more. Out of the 303 he went back to check only 99 were fixed. As some of his problems in the video I don't find problems but Most of it still is. This being old bugs from the OG games being fixed that were fun and More.

 

If you haven't watched these YouTubers that still want things to be done right I highly recommend them as they don't sugar coat anything like most have been since the update has came out. 

 

With that being said we still have Hundreds of problems left that weren't a problem 20+ years ago.

 

Posting because I know everyone here wants Redemption for these games. 😉 As I know most of you have been annoyed with people acting like everything is ok now when it Cleary isn't.

Extremely rudimentary? You're selling them short. They put in a lot of effort for something that can only be played "locally". Had they been available on better hardware and with a few simple tweaks (moving while shooting like SA/IV, more players and no auto aim) they would have been pretty good. Hell, VCS MP on it's own is pretty good due to the fact that it has triathlons, something that a future entry had in SP, but not MP (TBOGT, now that game has an extremely rudimentary multiplayer mode).

Compared to other GTA official multiplayer modes they are extremely rudimentary, I don't see how this statement would be wrong. There are no missions and the 3D era mechanics are awful for any PvP activity, races and DMs aren't as fun as GTA IV or V. Not denying the obvious hardware constraints, but a 1:1 port of LCS and VCS MP would be interesting for like 30 minutes at best. The presence of triathlons doesn't seem like a huge technical milestone, it's just a checkpoint race after all.

I can't say the same about GTA 3 though, it's still not quite right. Not enough fog (same goes for foggy weather in VC), no newspapers on the streets, and the colors are too saturated. A lot of character models need to be fixed (Tommy, Ken, Kendl and Claude should be completely remade, actually). Other than that, VC and 3 are pretty good.

The lighting helps a bit with GTA III, IMO; albeit, not to the extent of SA (and VC reminds me more of VCS than the original game at times). But for me, think the single biggest issue (other than the character models, of course) are the road textures. They’re too clean-looking; GTA III is supposed to be grimy and gritty, but I still think of The Simpsons Hit & Run every time I look at the streets in the DE (i.e. 99.9% of the time, since driving is a core part of the franchise, and Liberty City is more of a concrete jungle than VC/SA).

 

I still don’t understand why GSG didn’t just use the OG Xbox textures as a base for III. The same goes for the higher-poly character models and vehicles (which have 3D engines on Xbox); it’s especially dumbfounding when you realize that they already used a lot of Xbox assets in the game’s original mobile port.

Triply-so when you realize that they DID use the Xbox assets in VC-DE. I don't get it. If they don't release a patch with them I'll probably port them myself eventually, then get sued into oblivion by Take2.

Most cars are fine...but the Stallion in GTA3 still has a poorly upscaled mangled mess of a license plate.Also, aren't those headlights supposed to be round? And I don't remember sinking into the ground there in the original :sadkek:
Am I nitpicking? Yes. Is it deserved? Yes. re3 and reVC died for this. I'll never not be mad about that, but the least they can do is fix it up so that it takes me more than a few minutes of gametime to notice the issues. I mean it has been 3 years.

Watch this video first: 

 

One thing I realized is that these new patches are simply old GSG versions ported to mobile and then ported back to PC with new upgrades. Which makes San Andreas a PS2 game ported to PC then ported to mobile then ported back to PC with an engine change then ported BACK to mobile to GET PORTED AGAIN TO PC. 

Some changes in the new patch such as downgraded water and smoke effects and some vegetation changes just clarifies this.

Definitively. None of the mods I have touch vehicle textures, nor alter the map in any way. But for the sake of argument I removed them.

(this is why I played through the games unmodded :p)

 

The worst part is after enough time has passed people will just assume the games were always like this and that DE reflects the original quality of the games. Entire generations will go without knowing about the super sprint mechanic in GTA SA...

GSG: Replaces almost every texture, often with AI upscales or poorly made replacements.
Also GSG: Leaves this ugly as **** texture from the original game in.
