Trilogy Definitive Edition OUT NOW on Mobile via Netflix - Updated on All Platforms

Recommended Posts

It's weird how the characters now look somewhat better by making the textures lower resolution and removing some weather effects. For a second i really believed they tried to finally get rid of the Simpsons style textures, but i guess it's just the toned-down color palette and compression, that makes it all better.

Here Claude looks more like it is in the XBOX version

and here it just looks absolutely awful, like trying to upscale low-resolution textures by adding some kind of blur filter.

Here the screenshots of Android.

I don't know why there are two images for each shot, and there is so much difference between the two.

I didn't see anywhere about Android, only iPad and iOS. (I don't think overall they are as powerful as the other ones to run GTA TDE, or am I mistaken?)

Was that later?

It's there for me now that I checked.

Fog and birds are a nice (re-)addition - birds were absent in the 360/PS3 "mobile remaster" of SA aswell, so hopefully they've restored more stuff like destructible trees and rocks in the countryside aswell, or missing weather effects.

But still: Don't get too excited until you see more footage. Gameplay might stay unchanged and I guess the art style will still be a problem. But it's a step in the right direction judging from those screenshots - something I've never said about the DE yet.

They are the iPad screenshots from the Apple app store. Exact same ones if you select iPad, they copied and pasted those onto the Play Store. They were taken on the Apple devices.

Thanks! Since I took the images from the Play Store, I thought they would be Android images.

Also, if i try to open play store i can't find GTA D.E....

It might depend on your region. I'm not sure if they've been added to the Italian Play Store yet, but I checked the North American page and they show up if I search for "GTA Netflix". EDIT: I had to do the same thing on the iOS App Store yesterday; the games are titled "GTA - Netflix", and not "Grand Theft Auto - The Definitive Edition".

EDIT 2: I also looked up the games on my 2019 MacBook Pro (the MacOS App Store lets you switch between Mac and iPhone/iPad-based apps when you search), and couldn't find them at all, whereas they showed up immediately on my phone. So it looks like they may not be playable on M1+ devices (at least for now). Hopefully the updates come to consoles and PC sooner than later, otherwise you'd better hope you can install the Android APKs on Windows 11 if you don't want to play them on a phone or tablet. :sadkek:

I was able to "pre-register" all games on Android and on iOS in Germany. I hope they'll also release this update to Console/PC. I'm still not a fan of the definitive edition but i also don't want to see these games in this broken state forever.

Are the DEs going to be on play store anytime?

That is we don't even know yet what api will they require on our pcs through WSA on Windows 11 or even Windows 10, Vulkan or OpenGL?

Indeed there is a difference but in any case it is better than in the "actual" version
And still I wonder how it will look like on big platforms, where texture resolution is higher and other differences. And as for the PC version, I hope to get a decent camera as well.
In general, we are waiting for the patch, I really hope that it will be released and the latest it will be the same time as the mobile version. Although perhaps today it will be released, since Friday was earlier under gta trilogy DE

What is going on with the blue (mist?) in this shot?

Also, those plants look like some Nintendo sh*t out of Animal Crossing or something. Kinda neat TBH.

I haven't played them in a while, but I think everything about the vegetation has been completely revamped, as it really stood out a lot at times
Here I think there is vegetation from the original a little tweaked to please the devices on what they release on

Before the vegetation was ripped straight from GTA V and RDR2. It looked good but also out of place against the other much lower quality assets. I wonder if they've swapped in some other assets that might be a closer match.

Wow, nice work - you can really see the difference when you compare the new screenshot with this. It just looks so much better.

Yep, unless Netflix is handling the actual development, it seems like a strange choice to limit this to their subscribers (regardless of whether or not it winds up being timed and/or mobile exclusivity). I mean, I'm no fan of it, but GTA+ is right there! You'd think Rockstar and Take-Two would want to boost the membership of their own subscription service a bit by offering these new versions there.

If R* doesn't mention anything in a Newswire post, then we'll probably have to wait until the games release on the 14th and we can get a look at their splash screens before figuring out who is actually working on them.

That pink bar at botton left is useless in GTA Vice City... it needs to be removed

The static flight control and side mission prompts need to go away, too (at the very least, make them optional). Little things like that make the DE feel too much like a bunch of mobile games. I suppose they are, to be fair; but it's like GSG wasn't even trying to hide that fact and simply replaced the touch screen icons with controller/keyboard prompts before calling it a day (much like they did when porting SA 2014 to 360 and PS3).

For a $60 package, you'd expect a much more polished UI, especially for games that are being sold on consoles and PC.

Just for side by side comparison, here's an image from Vice City DE on the PC (via @pacik19)

Thanks for the comparison bro. You never knew how ass TDE looks compared to the updated Mobile ports. It's the small changes and updates that really makes a massive difference.

Ain't it obvious? Netflix had to pay for exclusivity deal decent amount of cash. Much like RDR2 PC release with Epic.

That'd be a(nother) sh*tty call regarding The Trilogy.

"Let's outsource someone to fix our mess, but then people will be able to play this fixed version solely on their outsourced platform. Nowhere else. Genius!"

If Netflix offered money for exclusivity R* should just have said no. It's not like they need the money. The Trilogy sold very well despite all the glaring issues.

The fact that they swapped assets out and did other things to optimize them for mobile makes me think PC will not be getting these changes, as they were done distinctly for the mobile ports.

I don't trust about all these screens... i have checked an old screen from official site of Trilogy D.E. and...

6baec421d2ea5db3c5db1dfff3206ea4.jpg

this is an official screen of old version of game and colors are very, very similar... also you can see a bird that is missing in final version of game... (or are visible only during intros??)

i suggest seriously to wait for final release of mobile version because something can be totally different and i don't like it...

I did one more comparison, now in GTA SA.

PC Ultra settings:

PC Low settings:

• lots of grass is removed, so probably mobile port is just a modified Nintendo Switch version (grass is still visible on pc low settings)

• some textures are downscaled
• timecyc is changed, og atmosphere is back

• distance fog is back
• characters look less glowy, so they are more like in the original GTA SA and less like in mobile/actual de version

Maybe if Rockstar don't screw up, we can see another one update for PC/consoles version. God, I wish.
