I’ve seen birds in 2 GTA 3 screenshots. They are missing in the current versions on console and PC. Not getting my hopes up, but they may have put some actual effort into these. MAYBE…

The visual changes are a step in the right direction (goofy-looking character models aside). I do hope it controls better with an actual gamepad than the 10th anniversary ports and console/PC versions of the DE do, though. Things like the inability to tap to sprint (*COUGH* slow swimming in SA's triathlon *COUGH*) and the odd camera/aiming controls (compared to the originals and ClassicAxis on PC) make all of the GSG-developed ports feel very odd to play.

I'm so glad to be wrong. This looks a lot better, if the bugs and gameplay issues are fixed then I'd say it's a fine title.
But I don't think this is going to happen.

OH HOW I MISSED THIS. THE SEA COLOR IS FINALLY A REALISTIC SEA COLOR. No more pastel color sea :kekw:

I recommend to wait for release version first... (and i hope for a very huge patch for PC & console versions)

Yeah, I'd say wait for the release too.

It seems there's a bit more of the old atmosphere, colours look less saturated (especially in the image with Claude and Salvatore) and skybox + ocean finally aren't awful.

Wonder who's behind the wheel of these new ports and whether or not the improvements will be brought to existing versions, atm the qabeta branch on Steam isn't receiving frequent updates.

I just wanted to compare the new pic and the old pic. What do you think?

I don't know if it's just me, but the colours of the new picture remind me a lot of a typical sunrise in GTA V.

Char models and art style aside the lighting and most of the textures look pretty nice, the reason it looks so bad is the geometry and the use of unreal engine.

It's unrealistic but i wonder how a R* internal studio developed remaster would've looked like. R* India is fairly new and maybe giving them the project would've been a learning experience for them + it'd definitely be 10x better than what we got here because of quality control that R* does internally. Even if one studio f*cks up, because multiple R* studios collab on things, it'd never go THIS wrong.

Just spitballing here, no hate. Don't send this to the bitch and moan thread shadowrealm :kekw:

I can overlook the character models if they've put some real work into making the games more solid overall, and update the existing versions. I have to say, it's pretty exciting to have some positive (cautiously optimistic) news in regards to the DE.

Yeah the water is also different even in that GTA VC screenshot so it does seem they tweaked some things at least, even if character models don't seem to have changed.

Colors are fixed, the atmosphere looks nice, and volumetric clouds are gone.

That actually does look a little better than before, one of my biggest problems with the trilogy is that all three games look almost identical which definitely wasn't the case with the original games.

Looking at the screenshots, it seems that the graphics got a much needed overhaul. The original DE graphics looked generic as all hell with them cheap ass UE stock effects. The Mobile ports' graphics looks highway decent and the small changes and improvements (fixed ocean color, proper atmosphere, static clouds instead of ugly broken volumetric clouds) are pretty nice. Just update or remake those goofy ahh character models and TDE would be a solid 7/10 remaster. I still think that the OG edition IS the superior version to experience the trilogy, but at the very least I can call TDE a worthy upgrade for those who want to replay the trilogy in 2023.

engines are still 2D in GTA III and they didn't change goofy character models.

However they added distance fog.

I wonder if they reimplemented atmospheres across SA cities?

To be honest it would be the most rockstar thing ever to have these changes only be exclusively to the mobile versions

Indeed, especially since the DE is quite poorly optimised. It would make sense that some of these changes may have simply been made out of necessity to get acceptable performance on mobile, with no intention of bringing them to other platforms.

Character models look different? Very much like OG models, no?

1280x0w.webp

Nah, the character models don't seem changed that much at all compared to other things like the timecycle and so on.

The more orange San Andreas looks the better in my opinion

These new color palettes look more identical to their PS2 versions, not even PC. There are some differences in screenshots of iOS and Android though.

that second one looks a LOT like the original Vice City actually.

Android though.

NOT Android, if somebody is spreading that! They are iPad screenshots from the Apple Store!

The resolution says all too, it's iPad's tablet aspect ratio.

Edit: I've noticed the Play Store has both versions, but they are just the iOS/iPadOS screenshots, to the point they are the same aspect ratio

That is... strange. I wonder if they're different WIP builds of the game.

The iPad is probably running the game at a higher resolution which means more cutbacks most likely. I'm not sure what to expect in terms of performance on any of the mobile platforms because UE4 won't be super easy to run I reckon.

I do argue however that even with some cutbacks on the iPad the atmosphere does look different, it does look like it might not have been just mobile optimisations.

Do you think we'll have to wait until the 14th to find out how extensive the changes are? A part of me thinks that Rockstar would surely want to showcase them as much as possible if a lot of work has been done behind the scenes, but I have low expectations of them when it comes to the DE.
