At this point, why even make it toggleable? Unless performance is any different...

In fairness, the new lighting is still nice. We OG fans just prefer it to look like the originals. New lightin just feels "wrong".

SteamDB shows that the three GTA TRILOGY titles have received a background update, maybe we can get an official update with the mobile changes soon... we really need it.

These mobile versions of the genre-defining classics Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas are all available to be purchased individually and feature additional improvements, including a new Classic Lighting mode that restores the look and feel of the sky in the original games.

Since Netflix didn't work on these, I'm confident we'll see these changes on consoles/PC as well

But the question is: When?

Maybe when they have sold everything they can on mobile phones?

Perhaps when the sales rate drops, then they will transfer the improvements to consoles and PC.

But I hope I don't have to wait that long.

Actually slightly concerned that's not gonna happen (yet?) based on the Newswire. I literally don't see any reason why that couldn't happen, unless there is some sort of publishing deal with Netflix that doesn't allow them to push these improvements to other platforms yet to maximise mobile sales and potential Netflix subs?

This is much better than the original release. I still find it immersion-breaking to see Mt. Chilliad from Los Santos, though; I wish there was a way to dial the draw distance down a bit.

I already like it more than the definitive edition on PC. This makes me wish for a proper version of GTA SA with all the unused stuff that's buried in the game. Wishful thinking. Already a step in good direction!spacer.png

Okay, that looks nice. But in my iPhone, there is no audio. Why is that?

For whatever reason, some games on iPhones require you to turn your ringer on to hear sound. I had the same problem and that fixed it for me

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is also available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via the Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam, and Epic Games store.

They mentioned the inferior releases? Lol

Seems kinda off

Real question is: who's working on these games? Wasn't GSG fired by R* and they weren't working on the trilogy anymore?

Video Games Deluxe (VGD), the studio (offshoot of Team Bondi) that has been working with R* for a number of years now, is behind it. :) The new plugins have their name, looks like they do mobile stuff too not just VR.

They're not Netflix exclusives tho. You can get them off the mobile digital stores for $20 each without Netflix subscription

They are not but they do have the marketing rights and everything, as they're being mainly marketed as part of Netflix. So there might be a deal to maximise subs and so on.

The textures are finally fixed in GTA III - Defintive Edition, but the engine swapping bug is now even worse :D NPC driven vehicles sound like it's stuck in first gear.

But so far, it's much better than the current GSG version.

Wait. Resolution became a slider?

Hints at a Resolution Scale option like GTA V and RDR2.

Was it ever an option on the PC version?

There’s no real implication of it either way but the way this is worded almost sounds like these additions aren’t ever coming to PC/consoles, lol.

They would have at least have mentioned they would be brought to other platforms eventually, wouldn’t they? Rockstar are usually pretty straightforward about those types of things in their announcements.

Here’s to always hoping tho.
