Which gta games HAVEN'T you played?

cant remember

Also would be fun to hear why, eg. not interested, or still planning to play it someday.

I guess it counts too if you tried it and quit because you didn't like it.

For me it would be:

- GTA: London. I freeroamed a little in it, and tried some missions but I failed them all and never cared to actually do all the missions and try to finish the story. It's unlikely I will ever revisit it.

- Chinatown wars, I still plan on playing that one. But I'm saving it for when I'm on a plane or something where I'm actually in a mobile gaming situation.

- RDR: Undead Nightmare: Only recently discovered that this was a thing with an actual singe player campaign so I added it to my list of things to finish in the coming weeks

- GTA Online: I'm not really an online gamer, but since we're waiting for GTA6 I might give it a go anyway

- Advance, RDR, LCS & VCS: I didn't play these ones until last year or so. When they were new I didn't have the console to play them, and it's only recently I discovered they could be emulated so I gave them a playthrough. In retrospect I wish I had played them when they were relevant so I could have enjoyed freeroaming in them, as opposed to just get through the missions/activities and then cross them off the list.

List for reference:

- Grand Theft Auto

- Grand Theft Auto 2

- GTA: London 1969/1961

- Grand Theft Auto III

- GTA Advance

- GTA: Vice City

- GTA: San Andreas

- GTA: Liberty City Stories

- GTA: Vice City Stories

- Grand Theft Auto IV

- GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City

- GTA: Chinatown Wars

- Red Dead Redemption

- RDR: Undead Nightmare

- Grand Theft Auto V

- Grand Theft Auto Online

- Red Dead Redemption II

Pistol Bobcat

Never played any of the original top down games, just never felt motivated to try (started with GTA III when I was 11).

I do however love some of the music from those games and even added to my custom tracks in LCS.

Also never played either Advance or Chinatown Wars, neither appealed to me for some reason.

GTA Advance and London 61 are the only GTAs I haven’t played at all.

As a side note I haven’t played Red Dead Revolver either. Actually there’s quite a few games R* published throughout the 2000s I’ve never played like Oni, those weird Austin Powers games (lol) etc too.

I tried the 2D games a year ago but I couldn't be ever bother to beat them. These games were so Goddamn outdated that it was legitimately painful and miserable to experience. I founded it 1 to be bad while I founded 2 to be tolerable at best. I hated London the most out the bunch. It was a garbage entry just like the country it was set in. Easily the worst GTA game in the whole franchise. F*ck this game and f*ck everything it stands for.

GTA Online is one of the most boring GTA games that I've ever played. I remember trying Online a few years ago. I played it for exactly 2 hours, then I stopped played it. I don't know if I was playing it wrong or not, but Online was just so damn boring. I gave it multiple chances, but each one of these chances, I could not ever seem to enjoy it. It was against what the series was known for; Fun.

Looking back at Online's state and overall reception within the GTA community, it seems like that I didn't miss much from it.

I've played all of them but have never completed Grand Theft Auto with its two London expansions, GTA2 and Advance.

I managed to complete the first Liberty City chapter in GTA last year and despite its obviously dated by modern standards nature, it's a really fun game that has a lot of character and charm to it. I plan to complete it along with the expansions eventually.

I think anyone who considers themselves a GTA fan should at the very least try the first game to see where it all started.

Aside from GTA1 (which I played for maybe a grand, cumulative total of 30 minutes?) I've never played any of the 2D era GTAs. This also goes for any handheld games like Advance and Chinatown wars.

I also never played the Stories games (LCS and VCS), which is kind of a shame. On the one hand, though, they outwardly seem kind of derivative (since it's basically copy/pasting existing maps into a new game with some changes and improved mechanics) and at the time they came out it kind of felt like "filler" until an actual "Next-Gen" GTA came out (which was GTA4). But I like the concept of VCS, and getting to see how the world changed between the two dates. I've been thinking about trying to find a PS2 for sale somewhere (since I doubt mine works anymore), so I might go ahead and see if I can find a copy of 'em.

GTA4 Episodes I've also never played. I got them at a time when my computer could barely handle GTA4 as it was, and the Episodes ran even worse. And by the time I had a computer that would run them perfectly, I guess I had moved on to different things. I did play the multiplayer portion of it with my friend back in the day, but I guess I never really felt any desire to play the actual games themselves.

I never played RDR1 (since it came out on the 7th gen consoles and I never owned any of those), but it's one of the few games that made me watch gameplay footage of the whole thing. I dislike how most of the main characters are purposefully irritating and talk too much (which seems to be a Rockstar staple, but fortunately they cut down on that sh*t big time for RDR2 God bless em ... too bad that memo hasn't gotten to the GTAO writers), but the game has an incredible atmosphere and some great story moments. But the gameplay is definitely showing some age. This same thing also goes for Undead Nightmare: Never played it, but was engrossed enough to watch gameplay footage. It has some incredible atmosphere - and the bit where Alma Horlick rises from the grave and utters "THIS WAS MEANT TO BEEE MAH PERFECT DAYYYY..."? When I think about it at night, I still kinda turn on the lights for a moment and have to kinda unwind myself. That's pretty impressive.

That made me chuckle IRL

Yeah, you definitely didn't miss much of anything. I genuinely can't understand why anyone would even play on Public Servers - GTAO public lobbies feels like how people must envision living in Florida is like :kekw:. I wouldn't say it's completely worthless, because there are some things to get out of it, but it's very hard to find those experiences. My friend and I like to boot it up every now and then because we have an attachment to our characters, our "GTA Men" as we call them.

In regards to the actual heists/missions, I'd say 98% of all of our enjoyment in playing them is when our characters interact with each other in the cutscenes. (Like seeing them greet each other with a fist bump in one cutscene and us going "Aww, look at that!") When missions don't have cutscenes where our characters interact with each other, we don't care for them at all. (See: The last set of missions that got released.) But the quality of the heists/missions can vary wildly from "Not bad I guess" (Cayo Perico) to "Why must I be forced to drag around 2 other people??" (Heists) to "Meh" (most missions) "Am I supposed to actually be enjoying this?" (a lot of the filler stuff) to "Was ANYBODY supposed to be enjoying this????" (Los Santos Tuners).

So yeah, it's tolerable if you have some friends, but it's very easy to get bored playing GTAO, even with friends.

The Stories titles are definitely a must-play imo. People almost always overlook them in any discussion regarding the GTA series and it's a shame.

I'd say Vice City Stories is better than Vice City in almost every way, including the soundtrack - it felt more like actual 80s radio rather than one long "Best of the 80s" playlist. And LCS might not seem that special today but at the time it was an impressive feat being able to play a 3D GTA game on the go.

- GTA, GTA: London 1969, GTA: London 1961 and GTA 2 played them all for some time but I quickly realized that I couldn't adapt to the top-down view and their awful controls. I put them here because I've never played them seriously, although I think to have a pretty good idea on how they work and what they offer

- GTA Advance, basically for the above reasons with the added inconvenience of being a GBA exclusive. You can of course emulate the GBA fairly easily, but the image quality will probably be horrendous given the very low starting resolution

- GTA Chinatown Wars, again because it's a top down game. But, unlike all other top down entries, CW seems much more playable and, from I've seen, it has some cool unique features... Will probably play it in the future

- Red Dead Revolver, not on the list but I wanted to include it as part of the Red Dead series. Considering that its story isn't connected to RDR or RDR2 (yes, I don't think that Uncle is Red Harlow 😁), I don't have much of a desire to play it... But maybe I will eventually check it out to see how the Red Dead franchise started

cant remember

Hm I started at GTA1 but I'm the same with other series I've come to discover. I started at Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Far Cry 3 and followed those series since. I tried to play the previous entries in these series too but gave up because of the dated mechanics. I really wanted to enjoy them but the learning curve seems so much steeper when you go back and are accustomed to the modern mechanics.

I never played the PlayStation Portable exclusive games - GTA Liberty City / ViceCity Stories (I've played a bit the PC conversion mod of GTA ViceCity Stories before it got discontinued and striken by Take-Two Interactive. Also I never played at all first two top-down games - the original GTA and GTA 2, same for Nintendo DS's GTA Chinatown Wars.

Technically, I've tried out all of them including the gameboy colour versions of GTA 1 and 2 so I'm going to view the question as GTA entries that i have never completed before.

GTA 1, London 1969, London 1961 and 2:

I forgot why exactly but i sorta struggled going through these games, especially with London '61 which i gave up rather quickly. I couldn't adapt to the gameplay, navigating through the maps were a pain and i kept messing up the missions. Overall, i liked GTA 2 the most and found some aspects to be interesting but that's about it.

That's of course the PC/console version. When it comes to GBC's ports, it literally gave me a literal headache. Even thinking about them now makes me nauseous.

GTA Advance:

I recall the gameplay structure being more similar to the 3D era so that's nice. Otherwise, i just couldn't be bothered to continue my playthrough after couple of hours.

The games I have never played are GTA Advance and GTA Chinatown Wars.

I've played a bit of GTA1 / GTA2, but not much to really call it "playing" through the games so I guess I'll add them to the list as well.

Other than that, I played the rest.

Has that conversation actually been stopped by T2? I know it's been discontinued.

Never Played VC Stories myself, you could finally swim without getting killed.

Yeah that'll be Chinatown Wars if it counts, I did play it for like few minutes in the past but nothing much. I don't mind the top-down view either I would like to play it to finish.

Really wish we could have them on PC officially but the only way is to emulate there.

I've never played GTA London, Advance and Chinatown Wars.

I kinda want to try out Chinatown Wars eventually since it's part of the HD universe and the game doesn't seem bad at all.

universetwisters

Advance but tbh I doubt I'm missing much

I mean whats stopping you from still enjoying them regardless, especially rdr, lcs and vcs. Theyre still great games with killer soundtracks that hold up to this day.

Never played GTA,GTA London GTA2, GTA advance and GTA Chinatown wars.

Only game I might play out of these is probably Chinatown Wars

I have played GTA vice city stories but didn't complete the story

I am not sure about GTA liberty stories, I have definitely played it but i don't remember if i had completed it or not. Anyway I will definitely try to complete both vice city stories and liberty city stories some day

I have completed at least story in all the other games

On side note, out of all the GTA games I have 100% in only GTA SA and GTA 5

I tried to play GTA 2 with some mods recently, but it's so vastly different to everything that came after it, I need to readjust my mind in order to play it. Not treat it like a GTA game, but something else. I still want to play it, although not a huge priority for me right now. Back in 2008 I tried to play Advance with emulator, but I never bothered to finish it, it was just... bad. And I never bothered with GTA 1 and its expansion packs. Everything else, I played it and completed it. I still have to finish the 100% of Chinatown Wars, due to the damn stunt jumps. Don't see myself attempting the 100% of GTA V, I just don't like it and I doubt I ever will.
