GTA 4 & EFLC Port is coming soon to PS4 and Switch?

Recommended Posts

Last May, Take-Two said that it plans to re-release two previous games in the fiscal year 2024, as it said:

“We also plan to launch 2 new iterations of previously-released titles, and 3 independent titles, including Private Division’s planned May 23rd release of After Us from Piccolo Studio.”

We previously discovered that one of these two games is Red Dead Redmption, as the game was re-released on PS4 and Switch on August 17, and the physical version will be released on October 13. What is the second game in your opinion?

Will it perhaps be GTA 4 EFLC Port developed by Double Eleven Studio on Switch and PS4?

Or will it be an upgraded version of RDR 2 on PS5 and XSX?

Or will it be a game from outside Rockstar?

Amazing if this happens

r/GTA - GTA 4 Port (like RDR1) good or bad?

I think that is only for PS4 & Switch... this game really needs some fixes for PC version (expecially for all hard-freezes that still has; NOT stuttering, these are few with recent hardware i think)

The developer at Rockstar responsible for the GTA IV PC port being told to fix it for the 64⅓ time.

Wouldn't be a wise choice Business-wise. They want 110% attention to the next chapter of GTA, announcing a GTA IV remaster would sideline that, if even for just a little bit.

and now GTA 3 is 20 years old... just a little perspective on how long we've been waiting

Well yeah, but not the same day as I recall it. Seeing how the Trilogy DE was butchered, it would feel weird to see any effort being put into another remaster announcement at this time. It would be kinda welcomed inbetween the wait tho :)

Who the f cares about a port for a 2008 game with almost no changes. It won’t sideline anything

Well, I think you just proved my point? -  Why would they put effort into it when they have arguable one of the most prolific gaming reveals ahead of them?

God imagine trolling saying we only got 4 not 6

Imagine if 10 years ago someone told us:

"Yeah you will get GTA 6 BUT first you'll get GTA 5 for the current console generation, Red Dead Redemption 2, All 3D GTA titles again but messed up, Red Dead Redemption again in a bit prettier, (LA Noire as a VR game), GTA 5 again for the currect console generation (again lol), then GTA 4 again AND THEN you may get GTA 6 "

Is he a reputable source?

Nope.  R* has shifted all resources towards VI. There's been news about GTA IV being ported but no active development. That twitter user has spouted a lot of nonsense throughout the years for some clicks. Check what type of stuff he wrote in 2022

Because even if it's true, it's most probably going to be a port with minor enhancements developed by Double Eleven for PS4 and Switch just like RDR1. So it wouldn't really use much of R*'s resources and I don't see how would a sidenote mentioning that GTA IV is now (or soon) available on PS4/Switch hurt GTA VI. That being said, the source is a random Twitter account created this month, so I wouldn't count on it.

No.

It's literally a random-ass user on Twitter with 11 followers, the day after a bunch of weirdo community pages decided to fake being R* employees. Connect the dots. Why is everyone across gaming sites still so gullible? :cringekek:

It doesn't make sense. All the studios are focused on GTA VI.
Unless they want to delegate this task to a smaller studio like Groove Street Games. But are Rockstar's bosses really that dumb? GTA Defective Edition was simply one of the biggest aberrations in the history of video games. I don't think they'd make that mistake again.

The definitive edition was different, this would be more like the RDR port and a simple resolution upscale. I'm sure GSG can handle that

Would Rockstar (or whatever company they may choose for something like this) fix most of the issues FusionFix and Shader Fixes address if this "port" is to ever happen? I suppose not.

It would most likely still be the same as the PC port in terms of graphical issues and oversights...

Most likely, the IV remaster will just be a port and won't get 60 FPS until a later date. Truth be told, I've platted every GTA except IV due to the online trophies and I'm up for a port purely because I can finally get my favourite GTA onto my list of platinums. But I've no illusions that it'll be a lazy re-release of the PC version.

The key difference here is that RDR1 never (officially) supported 60FPS before the PS5 patch; Double Eleven only had the original PS3/360 release to work from. Adding a 60FPS option to a game that never had it to begin with likely required some extra time to properly implement. (I also suspect that the performance mode may have been patched in as an afterthought, in an attempt to alleviate one of the main points of criticism surrounding the new ports. But that's just speculation on my part.)

GTA IV, on the other hand, obviously has a PC port that can be used as the basis for a potential rerelease (i.e. a version that can already run above 30FPS and supports higher resolutions out of the gate, despite the port's many flaws). If you really want to get technical, the game also hits 60FPS on Xbox Series X|S, thanks to R*'s strange decision to unlock the frame rate in the 360 version. The main issue that would need to be addressed is the fact that QTE in the final mission is nearly impossible to complete when running above 30FPS (oddly, while it was fixed in patch 1.0.8.0, the glitch was reintroduced in the Complete Edition update for some reason).
