Weekly Event (28th Sep 2023) - 10 Years of GTAO, A Mix of Business Action for Everyone, Cayo Perico Adjustments and More

Message added by Spider-Vice,

Although you are free to discuss the Cayo nerfs in this thread because this Event Week introduced them, I personally encourage everyone to use the dedicated and more aptly named thread for it linked below, as this one may eventually be locked because it's an Event Week-specific thread and continuing discussion of the nerfs is probably best done in a dedicated thread. See below:

Thanks.

This week falls on ten years of GTA Online (Sunday, 1st October)! Much like GTA V itself, it's currently the biggest and most played Grand Theft Auto experience to date. From the initial major launch issues, to its continued growth and reputation (love it or hate it), it still gets Event Weeks much like this one, and even content updates and quality of life fixes for everyone to experience.

Happy 10th Anniversary GTA Online, it's been a blast, one even bigger than the Story Mode for many.

As for bonuses, find production boosts for criminals of most kinds, increased efficiency from Lupe your trusty Special Cargo Warehouse manager, a chance at wrecking your opponents (or running away from them) with bonuses on Hasta La Vista, some payout/cost adjustments to Cayo Perico related content and seasonal rewards for both Oktoberfest and the Mid-Autumn/Moon Festival.

Remember this is just a preview, and information may change. On top of that, Rockstar may reserve things for their own Newswire.

We understand that not every Event Week will be to everyone's liking, some will certainly be more exciting than others, but anyway...

Let's get started!

Business Efficiency Increases This Week with Productivity Bonuses - Get Cookin' (jesse!)

This week seems to be particularly motivating for all workers across Special Cargo Warehouses, Biker Businesses, Bunkers and your Nightclubs. I'm not sure if it's the banging tunes in the Nightclubs (did you change your DJ's?!), or the general cosy Autumn feeling, but everybody wants to do more things. Perhaps you've been treating them as they should be - no overtime, enough time for family, friends and hobbies...

Lupe has also told us she's managed to score a deal for two times the cargo output with her sources, so that's exciting if you want to fill up your warehouse whilst managing other things.

All this said, until the 4th October, you can find:

  • 2x Biker Business Production Speed
  • 2x Bunker Stock Production Speed
  • 2x Nightclub Goods Production Speed
  • 2x Special Cargo Crates from Lupe (see her in one of your Special Cargo Warehouses)

Payout and Cost Changes to Assault on Cayo Perico and Cayo Perico Heist, Bonuses on Hasta La Vista and Autumn Says Hi with Oktoberfest and Mid-Autumn Festival Rewards

This week sees another balancing and adjustment sweep from Rockstar to the Assault on Cayo Perico game mode, and to the Heist. You can now try and stop those pesky invaders from hacking your satellite dishes, or hack them yourself, for double the payout, and rewards to Optional Challenges will also be boosted.

  • 2x GTA$ payouts for Assault on Cayo Perico, both teams
  • Boost (unspecified) for completing Optional Challenges

On top of El Rubio being forced to give up more money for the absolute Olympic gymnastics of weaponry that are going on in his island, changes are being made to Cayo Perico Heist Setup Costs. We don't know whether that'll be more expensive or cheaper however. As for the Heist itself, reductive adjustments will be made to some primary loot and secondary loot other than Gold. In summary:

  • Cost changes (unspecified) to Cayo Perico Heist Setups
  • Payouts for Cayo Perico Heist Primary Targets will be reduced, EXCEPT the Madrazo Files and the Pink Diamond
  • Payouts for Cayo Perico Heist Secondary Targets will be reduced, EXCEPT Gold

It's time to listen to the Pisswasser radio jingle and drink as much as you can meanwhile, as Autumn slowly sets in. Oktoberfest celebrations are still ongoing and you can get your Alpine Hat for free for playing (and perhaps drinking?)

Meanwhile, China observes the Mid-Autumn, Moon or Mooncake Festival this week! A major celebration of gathering, thanksgiving and praying, close to the Autumn equinox, it's celebrated this year in GTA Online with a couple of rewards.

If none of those things are of your liking and you'd much prefer to be on the road hitting some bikers, or a being a biker yourself running away from one, a couple or a ton of crazy truckers, Hasta La Vista waits for you this week.

  • Log-in any time this week to receive the Alpine Hat (Oktoberfest) and the Red Happy Moon Tee (Moon Festival/Mid-Autumn Festival)
  • 2x GTA$ and RP on Hasta La Vista

Miscellaneous

The Diamond Casino & Resort Lucky Wheel

This week breaks a recent pattern from the Diamond Casino & Resort of putting Sports Classics on their Lucky Wheel roster. Perhaps investors screaming? Meddling from those same investors? A big purchase of a Diamond stake from Maibatsu? Those on the darkest places of Bleeter (Xleeter? Coil Bleeter?), LifeInvader and wherever else are thinking of their strange conspiracies despite visiting the Diamond Casino every day, as if they're legitimately protesting anything, and trying to get the car from the meddling they allege to exist.

Well then, this week at the Lucky Wheel find the modest sports coupé Maibatsu Penumbra FF. Pray to all and any deities, do your thing, and good luck.

LS Car Meet Prize Ride

Plenty of activity last week around the Car Meet as some rookie (and not only) Tuners stopped by to see what was up and to do some races. As long as you know minimally what you're doing, you won't be shunned or anything! This week sees another classic drop onto the Car Meet, except this time a race classic that is pretty much a civilian classic, and you can get it quite easily even if you're one of the aforementioned rookies.

Place in the Top 5 in the LS Car Meet Series for two days running, to win the Übermacht Sentinel Classic. Yep, top 5, don't be afraid of not being good enough.

For testing and/or buying this week, it's back to all sports cars at the Test Track:

  • Dinka Jester Classic
  • Dewbauchee Seven-70 (also 40% off)
  • Dewbauchee Rapid GT

It's time to lift some dust this week with a snippy off-roader. Even Hao seems to have liked driving and adjusting this one, so you know it's a good one. A legendary vehicle from the days of Liberty City and Carcer City 2000's madness, it's been remade and it's being a hit. Hit up Hao over at his Special Works on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, and find the Maibatsu MonstroCiti HSW.

Premium Deluxe Motorsport

10 years on, and Simeon still wants those vehicles for export. If you don't remove your texts, you'll probably have tens of thousands of them at this point, filling up your storage. Perhaps you just like the man and his business that much. And let's be honest, he is as modest as he can, even if quite severely flawed. This week, at his Premium Deluxe Motorsport:

  • Imponte Ruiner ZZ-8 (also 30% off)
  • Penaud La Coureuse
  • Toundra Panthere
  • Dinka Sugoi (also 50% off)
  • Benefactor Feltzer

Luxury Autos

  • Dinka RT3000 (also 30% off)
  • Ocelot Lynx (also 40% off)

Time Trials and Premium Races

This week across the state of San Andreas, find the following time trials and premium race:

  • Off-Road Premium Race: Across the Wilderness
  • Regular Time Trial: Elysian Island
  • HSW Time Trial: North Chumash to Palomino Highlands

This is genuinely the first time I've been upset with Rockstar over GTA Online.

  • Previous nerfs were annoying but didn't ruin the experience for me.
  • Removing so many cars was an annoying and stupid move they should've warned us about. But the game still has enough vehicles for me not to hate it.
  • GTA+ is stupid, and I'm nervous about the future of it. But as it is, it's harmless, especially for a technically free-ish game.
  • The "worse" updates are fine with me since it most likely means they're busy with GTA VI.

But doing nothing for the 10th anniversary, and in addition to that, nerf something the week of said anniversary, feels disrespectful. I've lost so much respect for Rockstar if there's no exciting Newswire article this Thursday or Friday. I get that the devs care more about something "new" like GTA VI. I do, too! But why would I invest time in something they're just going to give up on - that they're "too good for"?

Non Funkable Token

What kind of twisted logic is behind nerfing Cayo payouts the same week the game turns 10?

It's amazing how tunnel visioned / target fixated people get... sure, the apparent nerf to Cayo Perico sounds bad on the face of things, but we don't really know the ins-and-outs of their intention here. Hell the information may not even be 100% accurate... however...

  • 2x Biker Business Production Speed
  • 2x Bunker Stock Production Speed
  • 2x Nightclub Goods Production Speed
  • 2x Special Cargo Crates from Lupe (see her in one of your Special Cargo Warehouses)

This isn't too bad from these bonuses alone, but people are saying there's no real money bonuses and can't fathom out that if production is 2x speed, then that's essentially double money for the same time spent in GTA Online.
Hey ho.

I haven't run Cayo in months, so many easy ways to grind money in this game. Still kind of a weird change unless there is something we don't know.

I don't even do Cayo Perico anymore after the first nerf but it's beyond pathetic they're still willing to nerf this heist even with all the other bullsh*t still going on with the game. Like, why does my character still freeze at the agency safe when I'm afk for so long? Why am I locked out of my office in freemode sometimes even though I'm not in a mission or event? Why haven't they done anything about controller inputs suddenly not being responsive on Xbox Series X and the only way to fix it is by closing the game? Why the hell haven't they done anything about the ammo "bug" that's been going on for YEARS?

Goes to show you where their priorities are. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm headed back to Night City. The president needs my help.

GTAV 10th Anniversary event week was mid. The outfits were a nice addition. But other than that, it had no "wow" factor and didn't differ from other event weeks.

Held hope for the second week, but instead we get an anniversary of the Tuners event from a year ago. No new V anniversary related rewards.

Held hope for this week, but so far there's nothing new in terms of what happened to the rest of V anniversary clothing. And three of them were given to GTA+ members.

Plus, literally no celebratory rewards in terms of GTAO anniversary in this preview too. Instead, we get a nerf to Cayo Perico Heist. I really hope they are reserving something for the newswire article. Because so far, this is just disappointing.

As a normal event week, this is good in terms of payout buffs to Assault on Cayo Perico and okayish in terms of bonuses. Would have loved some 2x bonus on Bunker, but I'll take boosted production.

What you showed here is almost definitely part of the weekly event. The changes to Cayo are permanent.

If you play 24/7 for a week you might get 2 million extra from the Nightclub. Those stats are better with Biker and Bunker stuff, but again, you'd have to play almost 24/7 to earn a significant amount of $ before that 2x is over. Is it good? Sure! Does it make up for a negative permanent change? No.

Well... Happy 10th, I guess!! 🤣🤣

Na, seriously. sh*t week considering to be fair. But overall it has been a wild decade of GTA:O. Just a shame it's seemingly limping out rather than using a moment like this to have one last hurrah.

Ahh, well. Cheers guys n gals, this game has been a blast, but if not for many of you lot, it'd be far less than it is. 🍻🍻🍾

I mean I have to be honest, personally I don't find fun in constantly grinding Cayo for money (I'm long past that era with GTA$140M anyway) and any adjustments they're making, IMO, aren't as impactful nowadays. I think it would have been a lot worse if it was back at release when people relied even more on Cayo Perico for money. These days GTAO has plenty of activities that also give you pretty quick money - yea, right, it's not like GTA$1M at once necessarily, but the sum of those activities released since then, especially with the ability to sell businesses in solo sessions, can reach that and even more.

I think this is yet another attempt to make people stop grinding Cayo Perico so much and have them play other content too, they're probably seeing massive numbers repeating Cayo over and over. A lot of grinders may dislike it, but I can see where they're coming from if that's the reason.

That is true actually yeah, in the time you usually do one sale, you can do 2 now, which pretty much amounts to double the money in the same time.

So is the 2x production speed permanent as well? If so that changes things a bit. But if it's just for the weekly event more casual players (often the ones doing Cayo because it's what they have time for) won't get that much out of it.

At nearly $1.1b, the only reason I personally have to play Cayo is Career Progression - which I've got just over $49.5m to go given the only finale I've played since June has been a single one I randomly got Invited to.

I feel like I should hold off until we have the full in's & out's, so I'll be concise. I would be fully understanding of the payouts being cut if at the same time they removed the 72 hour cooldown on Primary Target rates. That's just a punishment for anyone wanting to play it more than twice a week and kills the variety it used to have in terms of both what you were stealing and range the payout could be. Before if you got Tequila, bad luck, lesser pay but can't cancel to save time and keep Hard Mode. Pink Diamond? Hell yes, big money, let's do this sh*t.

Thanks to the 72 hour cooldown, it's a miracle if you're stealing anything other than Tequila and getting anything other than exactly $1.5m. I'm all for the 48/2:24 cooldown, it introduces the break in the loop players needed to stop AFKing for 10 minutes in front of the Planning Screen to insta-buy Hard Mode and do it all over again (and on principle, I've said introduce that to Casino if that were to be the trade-off for making it soloable) ... Then again, they probably should rework Hard Mode to just being an unrestricted choice rather than the IRL cooldown that ticks even when not playing.

Night Machine

Crazy how it has been 10 years already. From what I hear I was lucky to be a day 1 player. I didn't follow anything videogame wise on the internet until I bought my 2nd copy of GTAV when I switched from XB360 to XB1 in 2016 so I had no clue of all the issues people were having on launch. I have been a gamer for over 40 years and GTAO is still the only game I follow on the internet. I just follow the R* Social Club and the forum. I'm an old-school gamer so I still prefer to learn things as I play and figure things out on my own.

Basically, in 6 hours, you could make 2 million from two full sales of Coke and a full sale of Bunker. In the same time, you could earn up to 3 million from grinding the current Cayo Perico Heist even with previous nerfs.

Clearly, their intention is to nerf the minimum profit output of Cayo Perico Heist. They avoided the Pink Diamond, which is the rarest in repeated playthroughs with a 10% chance. And Gold as secondary target which you need a second player for. Basically, targeting repeated solo playthroughs of Cayo. To be fair, that's not really surprising. It was definitely expected.

Like since "Assault on Cayo Perico" released, the stealth approach of "Cayo Perico Heist - Compound" received extra 11 million plays and 680k new unique players. People are still grinding it despite the nerfs. What's surprising is the timing for this to happen during the 10th anniversary week.
