Did the mobile version of GTA 3 get secretly updated?

Recommended Posts

I've been having the Android version of GTA 3 for many years and it hasn't been updated since last year (which was just to support newer versions of Android). But yesterday when I checked my phone at some point during the day I noticed on the notification bar that there's an ongoing update of GTA 3. Then naturally I got curious what's the update. I opened the Google Play page but it didn't mention anything, the (visible) version was still the same and still the date of last update is mentioned as Jun 29, 2022. It was a 500+ MB update if I remember correctly which makes me think it's  not update of the binary but rather the OBB data file. But if that's the case then this raises worrying questions - what was changed, did they cut any music or anything else (didn't verify it myself)?

Did anybody else notice this?

I can't find this game anymore in Play Store, i can see it only if i try to open Rockstar Games page in Play Store, but it says that recent Android version is not supported (same thing for Bully and Max Payne 1... GTA San Andreas is going to stop working; only GTA Vice City and GTA Chinatown Wars still works properly; GTA Liberty City Stories is no longer available in Play Store for unknowed reasons but now support all Android versions without problem because a recent patch)

i recommend to contact Rockstar

LCS is available but now it's free to download with a short trial and you have to login with your social club account in order to play and save your game. If you have a legit purchase of the game, they have a special form for that where you can provide proof of purchase and they activate the game for you.

I'm not sure if it's the same app ID tho. Also it wasn't visible from the google play search results, I had to find it using the browser (like you explained) but it was possible to install it from there.
