Has Michael Unsworth left Rockstar Games?

Agreed it’s hugely important, but I’m not worried on that front. R* have always done good female characters, and showed their range with RDR 2 in particular. And as we’ve all more or less agreed, current changes won’t affect GTA VI as we have to assume other than tweaks it’s already written (the risks for me being can they get credible leaders to replace DH and MU are for GTA VII and beyond.)

I appreciate how R* took the criticism from GTA V's female potrayal. I remember when people were afraid of the idea because of how poorly-written the female characters in GTA V are (when it actually happens to most of the characters there, regardless of gender). RDR 2 comes out, blows our mind, and now there's a more optimistic vibe surrounding Lucia.

I also like this quote from Dan about the women of RDR 2: The second game will have “ones who are weak and ones who are weak and become strong and ones who think they’re strong but are not. And that goes for men, too". He may've gone now, but I sincerely hope GTA VI continue to stick with this words.

They can do shooting controls on controller that feel great, MP3 is proof, but for their open world games they flat out choose not to.

The same reason why GTA V physics were downgraded from IV.

Not enough memory for the game to juggle all of it so naturally something has to suffer for the game to work

Max Payne 3 is a linear game and GTA is open world. That's why.

While it's true there is a balancing aspect physics aren't really something that is tied too much to memory. I've always gathered that V's physic changes were a direct reaction to the large amount of criticism IV's physics got at launch.

Same with shooting feel, GTA V and MP3 having different shooting is a design direction. We had a report of someone trying to improve it for RDR2 but they had it reverted. It's not hardware related and just because MP3 is linear doesn't mean it won't be pushing the hardware still.

What's with everyone leaving Rockstar? :modkek:

Idk but the community clearly didn’t care about this guy until he left and now all of a sudden he’s seen as an irreplaceable god now :kekw:

It does suck that another writer left, but it's funny indeed how the dude went from unnoticed because everyone focused on Dan Houser instead, and now everyone is sh*tting their parents because this guy left too lol :kekw:

I'm gonna be honest, with the state that Rockstar is in right now, if I was working for them, I probably would have left after finishing GTAVI because I honestly don't really see how Rockstar's future is going to go from then on.

Writer being a creative job means repeating the same process over and over again tend to burn people off. Those who consider themselves good writers don't want to do GTA and RDR forever even if they are really successful and treated well. Imagine being a movie writer that is forced to only do Fast and Furious and Pirates of the Caribbean. You can be very good and be treated good, but you end up sick of pirates and "Familuh"

The thing is we won’t really know about the impact that this is gonna have until the next R* title in the far future , most likely Michael & Dan’s involvement with GTA VI was already completed to an extent before their departures and there’s no indication at this point that they both left on bad terms either unlike Benzies , they’re probably just tired after all these years and simply wants to do other endeavors like whatever it is Dan is doing now

HI all, I've moved some Absurd Ventures-related posts to that thread. It's R* adjacent and is in that general section so it's more fitting there. I suppose this thread has served the purpose in the title too by confirming that yes he has left :p
