FWIW this has been in the works for a long time and everyone in the FiveM dev team says the future is bright. They know the conditions and did it willingly, I don't think it's gonna be monetised at all.

FiveM style stuff in VI would be absolutely huge.

I got to say this is funny and perfect timing, especially with everyone raging over RDR1 port but maybe for GTA 6 online they’re probably gonna have RP sever but anyway, this is great to hear today 🤠

Can't tell if this will be good or bad

- Everything R* has shown/done in the last few years has been bad

- FiveM almost destroyed modding (never forget) and currently still has some shady business practises that go against the games agreements.

- RP can be fun with the right people, but sadly most people seem to play RP to satiate their literal god complex, GTA:O already has enough entitled little douchebags, do we really need the average RP person there?
- People that play RP don't even bat an eye to pay crazy amounts for literal retextured items, i don't want that to become part of the actual game (GTA+ kinda is this already?)

What are the chances R* just gave them some money to become part of R*, so that when GTA6 releases they can just axe FiveM and deny a "SixM" from being made???

Daft question but is there a chance they could implement RP servers on consoles? Or will they probably just wait until GTA 6 comes out?

hope they won't start charging money for playing fivem
i bet they've also hired them to assist R* (Dundee?) in the future with Online (and online 2?)

Did rockstar buy fivem or is it just a partnership with no money involved?

Yeah I’d love to know the answer to this as well.

Ownership vs non-ownership has a ton of implications.

FiveM using dedicated servers, might help with some issues on PC, nothing RP related.

Servers have maintenance/cost.

Optional PC subscription (gta+ like)?

PS: R getting some good karma. FiveM was some sort of grey area competition.

I think you need to stop hurting your brain so much about this :kekw:

I'd say they'll wait until GTA VI. I have a feeling some FiveM stuff is gonna make its way to VI which means things like RP could be available even on consoles. Perhaps a GTA Online that's more like FiveM than the current thing.

I think its more to do with improving FiveM/RedM rather than the next GTA? cfx.re say that on their own website

And for those curious about what else Rockstar is working on, please understand that our partnership with Rockstar Games is focused on our FiveM and RedM platforms. So please, do not ask us about the next GTA!

Of course they can do it. But it's not the same. A big portion of FiveM popularity is because you can wear/drive real world brands.

That's actually one thing I "hate" about FiveM :kekw: the car mods and stuff to replace a perfectly fine in-game version of, say, a Supra with a real life one always have such inconsistent quality. I don't know how you'd call it in dev terms, but often the lighting and shadows will be off. As in both not quite right and as in literally not there sometimes. I'd rather have the consistent quality of the already existing vehicles rather than a nearly identical model with a different badge on it that now looks out of place, and doesn't have any of the tuning parts of the original model.

Tbf though that stuff depends on the server, some just like shoving all kinds of IRL stuff onto servers, others actually have entire teams to make their own stuff. I prefer the latter too.

I don't think they will blend the existing GTA:O and the FiveM tbh. In this partnership, the FiveM team may have low-level access to GTA V, which means better support.

Who what where? idk about you but having multiple thoughts does not hurt my brain? 👍
Nobody knows what this will lead too, but we all have some ideas of what might happen, i feel like the things i mentioned are on a lot of people's mind.

My 2 cents: Don't jump to conclusions yet, lets see what comes of this first, it could still go in any direction.

I agree on most of this when it comes to Rockstar I fear this isnt a good thing, its also a tactic used by corporations to control their rivals if they cant beat them, buy them out!
I like FiveM and its RP, Ive had alot more friendly and fun experiences in FiveM than I have in GTAOnline, FiveM almost destroyed modding? WTF you on about? Shady practices? Elaborate
Pay crazy amounts for retextured items? you havent been on many FiveM servers then.

The equation FiveM = Roleplay server is not always correct, people can host whatever they want and it's not uncommon to find quality themed servers (racing, adversary modes, ...). The main issue with FiveM is lag, everything works with dedicated servers and so if you live away from the server you want to connect to, well prepare to play with a 100-200ms delay. It'd be amazing if P2P (maybe with relays servers) could be implemented into FiveM, but I think it's an unrealistic expectation.

My guess is that GTA VI will have 2 online modes: GTA Online 2.0 and community made servers. I also think that Rockstar will try to bring as much as they can to consoles, there's surely a solid demand for that considering how many views get people playing on FiveM servers. Cross-play between PC, PS5 and Series S | X on GTA Online 2.0 and community servers? Heh, maybe it's another unrealistic expectation hahaha :D

Honestly surprised to see Rockstar supporting and integrating a modding team. Well, you could of course argue that this specific modding team was helping them selling lots of PC copies, but still it's a change in the right direction. I hope they continue like this and that projects like re3 could resurface one day.

I know. It's just a thing that's been bugging me for over a decade now, since the days of SAMP and MTA. Always preferred SAMP over MTA because the server owner there couldn't force you to install all the cool Lamborghini mods they found :kekw:

I also think it's kinda sad that barely any server owner for FiveM tries to do something other than RP. I've seen like 1-2 servers each for freeroam, deathmatch or minigames stuff. I think there's like a handful of "transport tycoon" servers, where you're a trucker, pilot etc., kinda like a more specific RP. (Still don't hold up to trucking servers on SAMP :shillkek:) Besides that, just hundreds of RP servers, and like 95% of them are empty or nearly empty anyway. Such a waste.

SixM when

Based on the updated post on CFX, it sounds like that wont be happening

EDIT: Actually @UnnamedRic & @Spider-Vice made a fair point, i might just be misinterpreting what the post stated and it's just them not being allowed to talk about the future yet, that would make sense.

I mean that could just be a NDA thing, R* doesn't like when anyone speaks about upcoming projects, so this could just be a way for them have a excuse why they cannot speak about GTA6

And they probably wouldn't get to work on that until close to the release of VI, if not just afterwards.

All they're saying is "please do not ask us about the next GTA".

YkOx4vO.png

That said it seems obvious to me it's because they'll probably be working directly on it, so no SixM from them because... well, they'll be working on VI Online most likely lol.

Nah, I'd wager they're already working on it but, well, they're basically R* devs now, so they can't say it.

Its where the player count is at the end of the day, they used to have more variety but they didint have the population to keep them open, some decent race servers that admin clean races with vanilla friendly vehicle addons like Vanillaworks.
The reason people like myself enjoy RP is not just because of the interaction but depending on server it feels like you have a form of progression, while deathmatch and tycoon servers dont feel as a rewarding through progression.
Ive also seen DayZ style and survival servers but they felt clunky.
While I agree for the sake variety they should more different types of servers its just not feasible.
