String Posted July 18, 2023 Share Posted July 18, 2023 This forum has been around for 20+ years with nearly 900k members, several of whom made a name for themselves in the community in some way or the other. I thought it would be nice to start a Hall of Fame of sorts for GTAF. Doesn't have to be a super serious concept, the members don't have to be active anymore either. Just think it would be interesting and something funny to follow. Say every year you could induct 4-5 members who historically contributed to the forums over the decades and/or who the community remember for whatever reason. What say? It probably doesn't have to be super accurate/legitimate but it will probably be worth it I say. It'd be quite a project to get it up to date with old/existing names since there's a lot of history to think back on, but I think there's a lot of potential in this idea going forwards. My knowledge of what happened back then is barely anything lol but: Tank is maybe the obvious choice for a first ever inductee I think anuj made quite a name for himself wielding the banhammer back then? Maybe him too The infamous Slamman illspirit once had a join date of 1976 so just going by that fsr i think they would have been a memorable user from back then and can be one of the first inductees too Yeah those are my nominations for now, lol Also I hope if it happens, both HOF and Annual awards can coexist. Like annual awards is more for the outgoing year in particular while the HOF would be more historically, taking all the years into consideration. But that can be a lot of work lol, and obviously I leave it to staff to decide on that. Guest Posted July 24, 2023 Share Posted July 24, 2023 I think the main requirement for HOF's inductees should be that the user in question has a notable positive impact/contribution to the community. They shouldnt merely excel in statistics or forum's crime, but they should be influential enough to shape the forum into what it is today. As a much newer user (joining 2020), I can't think of many names. It's gonna be good idea to interview much senior users first. The HOF should also have its own section like the Forum's leaderboard instead of a dedicated topic. For me, it's how you determine a HoF nominee, since for me it would also include people from the past who contributed enough to make people want to stick around, but didn't necessarily post anything newsworthy, if you get me.
