What games do you think deserve a sequel that never did?

Β

Here's my list

Β

  • Β Sleeping Dogs
  • Remember Me
  • Prey 2 2011... so close the cancellation still bothers me
  • Mad Max

Β

I'm sure I'm forgetting some more.

It would've been nice to have had an LA Noire sequel, or at least some similar game where you go around and doing detective sh*t

Yeh Prey 2006 Continuation of that which was Prey 2 (cancelled), that's one I also will choose the most. And pretty much Alice Madness Returns sequel which again we had revealed but then was rejected by EA...

Spoiler

The end of Prey had a portal sending Tommy to that other world with the letters - Prey will continue

ezHgfXI.png

which it never did.

Sadly I don't think they will ever continue that one. They will just perhaps make something with the new one again:bruh: or not.

Sleeping Dogs to have a sequel I believe might happen, if the company changes their mind and sees that it has fans, and also how many people play it on steam as an example.

Β

Aside Half-Life 2 ever continuing the story... Hotline Miami I think deserves another sequel but they said that they won't be doing any more for whatever reason..I see so much potential with it.

Then the other is a Quake game same universe as 4 and 2. Or they could go with the theme of the first one and reboot it like they did with Doom in 2016.

Have you read the thing about the Sleeping Dogs 2 sequel that could've been with two protags?

I don't remember what was said in there but I am aware about that from way back of it, Blue Carpet also mentioned it on the topic I made for cancelled games.

Edit: Ah I see.

Β

@Blue carpetΒ Was that game "Remember Me" any good? It has 65 on metacritic..but yeah at times those don't make sense, and some reviews I always saw complaining about stuff since its release.

The game had it's flaws but what made it good was the Cyberpunk setting the combat was good although alot of people hated it because they found it confusing which it really wasn't. It also has a really cool mechinic where you could change a story scene called memory remix and it would have multiple outcomes for me it's a hidden gem that deserves a sequel.

Space Cowboy

Half Life franchise (not counting Alyx) because it ended with an unresolved cliffhanger. I think Bully also deserves a sequel - not a direct sequel, but a new game with new setting, new protagonist etc. Prince of Persia deserves a completely new game, too.

I’d like to see another Max Payne and Manhunt, but given R*’s apparent disinterest in I.Ps that aren’t Red Dead or GTA it’s likely to never happen. I can only hope though. Probably throw in another Midnight Club too.

Β

For something entirely different I’d like to see another Tourist Trophy.

Β

For those unfamiliar Tourist Trophy was basically Gran Turismo 4 with motorbikes that cane out in 2006. I’m surprised it never at least spawned one sequel. I guess it never really caught on, but I think another one would be cool considering there are games like Ride, RIMS and of course the Moto GP series now.Β

Β

Polyphony Digital could have it serve as a spin off series to Gran Turismo like Horizon is to Forza.

Β

I just thought it was cool being able to have a Gran Turismo like experience just with bikes and would love to see another one.

1.True crime nyc, dont know why that game ended on such a cliff hanger. That was weird af

Β

2.Scarface, great game. Shouldnt have scrapped planned sequel

Β

3. The Warriors, we could have gotten a sequel where we play as another gang in a different borough either before or after the meeting.

Β

4.Godfather, a 3rd game for the 3rd movie just to end the series properly.

Hidden & Dangerous, I would love a third game.

Β

With the seemingly interest in a game like "Ready or not" I could very well see how a stealthy H&D game with all the bells and whistles of modern tech would be a good and popular game. I loved the two first games and they were a blast to play despite the bugs in the first game. The idea and the way the campaign and missions were laid out was really cool as well.

Mister Pink

Guys, I've removed one-word posts. Please try contribute "the why" and not just post title names as it contributes absolutely nothing to the conversation.Β

_____________

Β

My nomination would be Scarface: The World Is Yours. It's not needed, but the game was so enjoyable I'd love to see Tony Montana build an empire in a new city. Maybe he ends up in Boston and muscles in on Irish and Italian gangs. Silly concept but I'd play it.Β

Β

Sleeping Dogs is another one but stands zero chance to get a legitimate sequel. Originally Sleeping Dogs was called something like Black Lotus. It was never originally developed as a True Crime game. It only got the True Crime title when Activision bought the publishing rights and they thought it would be easier to market it as an existing IP/Brand.Β

Β

I wish they made a third (of the reboots) Deus Ex to make a trilogy series.Β

Bully. I really hope that after GTA VI Rockstar goes to their vaults and puts out that Bully sequel from 2009 which we know quite a few things about and was even playable for a few hours but sadly got shelved in favor of Max Payne 3. I think Bully as a franchise is so unique and has so much unused potential that it'd be a crime for it to never come back. I am also confident that Bully would be Rockstar's third big IP selling incredibly well if they'd finally release a sequel. Bully 2 could be this intimate but ultra interactive "small-scaled" experience (compared to RDR and GTA) where the entire world's buildings have unique interiors and can all be entered AND where every NPC is unique and never once copy-pasted! I'd love that so much!

I forgot to add Blur 2010Β  I'm not the biggest racing game fan but the game was really fun the sequel got canned due to low sales such a shame.

Cheatz/Trickz

The Order: 1886. Such an underrated/under-appreciated gem. It is not a walking simulator, or a QTE fest, it’s a damn fine cover shooter with amazing animation and sound design and an intriguing story.Β

Days Gone. Dripping with heart and soul this one was let down down by some questionable design decisions that plagued the early game, but it came into its own and ended up being an excellent ride overall that i’m so glad I went on and saw through.

Beyond: Two Souls. The game ended with a cliffhanger and we never got a sequel (it's probably never going to happen).

The games that were financial flops but well received by critics and/or players are always the ones that are more deserving of sequels tbh. Sequels to franchises by studios that moved onto other franchises and had success there would be nice for the fans of those franchises but studios who had a good idea and made a good game but didn't get rewarded for that and were thus unable to build on what they did... those to me are always the sad cases.

Β

Though I was never a fan of it my self, Sleeping Dogs is a very good example of what I mean. Good game that tried something new and interesting but despite it being a genuinely good game it didn't sell well enough resulting in the studio being turned into a support studio for random projects until they eventually shut down.

Maybe they do GTA V expansion. Where you do detective work in Los Santos.

Gta v (not VI but a Gta V pt 2)

Β

Sorry, but what?

Β

We’ve had a decade of GTA V across multiple console generations and you think it deserves its own sequel? lol.

Β

There’s a reason GTA games never get direct sequels to continue their stories because they’re self contained. The only things that carry over are sometimes character cameos, references etc.

Β

GTA V most certainly should’ve had some story DLC in the last 10 years (everyone would agree with that I feel), but a β€œpart 2” would be horrible IMO.

We have had a decade of GTA V? Really? Show it to me? Show me the continuation of Trev, Mike and Frank's story for the last ten years.

Β

Seriously mate, show it to me.

Β

We have had a decade of GTA O, but almost none of GTA V. Very different things. That you don't know the difference says a ton.

I know the difference and I already explained why a GTA V Part 2 would be a terrible idea as GTA stories aren’t designed to be continued across sequels.

Β

It’s not Spider-Man, The Last Of Us , Uncharted, God Of War etc. GTA V’s story leaves no room for further interpretation to be wasted on another game. It’s as simple as that.

Β

A story DLC would’ve been fine to help fill in some gaps, but R* missed that opportunity a long time ago. No one cares about GTA V’s story anymore and all eyes are on GTA VI.

PokΓ©mon RBY

Β

My biggest complaint about PokΓ©mon RBY was that the map never got revamped. Kanto's design is a reminder of the technological limitations of the Gameboy at the time. They could have added a lot more content filled the environment with more detail, etc.. It was essentially the same in silver/gold fire red/leaf green, soul silver/heart gold and lets go pikachu/evee

Hyrule gets revamped at each Zelda game newer map with recognizable landmarks and areas. GTA revamped Liberty City, Los Santos, and now Vice City.

Β

A remake like goign from gta III to IV

Almost two decades later and I'm still waiting for Timesplitters 4.

TS2 is still my all-time favorite game I've ever played even 21 years later, and even though TS: Future Perfect didn't quite scratch that "itch" like the 2nd game did, it was still a fun experience that kept what made the series great while expanding on numerous aspects.

Β

THQ Nordic apparently resurrected the developer, Free Radical Design, and even brought back some of the same people involved in it. Here's hoping that the dream of a new, official Timesplitters game might still end up being a reality. (AND that the fan-made Timesplitters: Rewind will eventually come out one day.)

Trevor's missions from the Heist update, and Franklin's contract missions. EZ. I also get the feeling Dax was originally meant to be Trevor (since they're written very similar) but Steven Ogg is just kind of done with the series and the character.

Even though I'm probably GTA5's biggest hater, it would have been nice to have gotten some Vinewood studios missions with Michael as the "host" of them, (since Ned Luke really loves the role), and we could have done some stunt driving missions for a movie or something (ala the old Stuntman game for the PS2/Xbox).

Would have been cooler than having Yusif Amir's relative throw zoomerisms at us constantly, fr fr no cap on god.

Same map, same mechanics, same ... well, everything, just with more vehicles. They're not that different ... and your attitude really says a ton about you, too. πŸ™„

Nope, due to Embracer Group's restructuring, they've pulled the plug on Free Radical Design. Shame to see. The developers also recently shared some unreleased work on the new Timespiltters project, and it looked brilliant, although unfortunately not the way we'd liked to have seen it.

My reaction:

That really wasn't the Merry Christmas news I wanted to hear.
I guess it's back to waiting for Timesplitters Rewind .....

- Hogwarts Legacy: I think as a whole the game was pretty nice, but terribly shallow as a RPG. I was expecting far more than what it delivered with its gameplay, so many missed opportunities here and there. Hopefully they will improve on these for a potential sequel.Β

- Stray: I was so enthralled by its world and concept that I need more of it. Easily one of my favorite recent games

- Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. Yes, it won't ever happen, but it would have been amazing to get a sequel to its dark, gritty story, especially after seeing all the stuff they were originally intending for a whole trilogy.Β Β

- GTA San Andreas: I would have absolutely loved it if this game got VC and III's treatment with a Stories spin-off. A brand new story with different characters, radio stations, changes to the map and a few new gameplay features.Β

Days Gone for me. I loved it. The story maybe wasn't the strongest but the gameplay IMO was awesome. It's the only game I have ever platinumed on PS.
