DuckingHeights
Thought I must ask as I'm intrigued yet curious about how notable and acclaimed DYOM designers such as @Target13, @zeko etc, create their MP and/or MOTW logos. At the moment, the graphics designing software I have and use at this time is GIMP, which I'm quite happy with but I believe that I'm not using it efficiently enough and/or that using only just GIMP isn't efficient enough to create my ideal logos. And apart from efficiency reasons, I'm interested to know the method with how you mission makers source perhaps the font and the textures to appear in the base text of your logo. And with that, here are my questions. 1. What graphics designing software do you designers use? 2. Where should I start when it comes to sourcing the right font and, maybe the textures as well to use as a base for the possibility of creating a logo. 3. Is it as simple as cutting a piece of the text and then having a texture overlay on it, or is there more to it? 4. Any extra tips when it comes to designing logos? And those are my questions. If anyone that sees this topic that I made and views this post, please, feel free to answer any of the questions that I've asked and if not, fair enough I respect your decision nonetheless whether or not you choose to reply to this topic. But, if you do choose answer any of the 3 questions and perhaps share your input with tips you might have, I'll greatly appreciate it. And with that, that is all. Toriality
i'm not the most suitable person to answer it since I last time worked with design like 2019 but I remember a few tips Adobe Photoshop is the best tool specially since there are more tutorials and resources for it online. Search for graphic design packs, brush textures, pattern textures Take a free online course, or watch a few youtube tutorials, learn the basics of photoshop tools like layer masks, blending modes, color manipulation, effects, etc To find out what font is being used in a image use whatthefont site, for free-to-use fonts use dafonts DuckingHeights
zeko
I only use photoshop for making logos It's quite simple actually. Get in the game, make the poses through using actor animations - you're done for that. The rest only needs cropping of each pose, putting it in the image you want and there you go DuckingHeights
Dust Rathard
There's no real advice anyone can give you except for the programs, you need to find your own style, find what you like, what you feel is right, for art stuff like this there isn't much advice anyone can give as it's very subjective, just do whatever you want as that's the point of having the freedom to create whatever, make something you really like, other people don't like it? They can all burn in hell, as long as you enjoy what you've made and you are happy for it what gives others the right to pull the rug from under your feet for no good reason, go wild. I got photoshop back in 2017 to make dogsh*t memes, i never watched any courses or full tutorials, i just googled how to do what i wanted in one moment and didnt care about anything else, that's how it goes to this day, you dont need to watch 20 hour lessons as most of the stuff isnt even useful and you won't remember it anyways, just find out how to do what you want to do right now and when you want to do something else well then the cycle repeats and in a few years you'll be world renown. Or maybe not, just have fun bro Edited June 18 by Dust Rathard DuckingHeights
THBP
I'm not a designer, but let me give my 2 cents on the subject: 1. You can use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or even Canva, depending on the complexity of the design. For a beginner, I'd recommend the last one. 2. Try FontBrief. It'll give you a specific font design depending on what you plan for your story. https://www.fontbrief.com/fontbrief 3. Simple as you put it. You just need to make the logo fit with the story proposal. (Don't ever use Comic Sans) 4. Don't focus most of your time on design. Although we have a certain tendency to judge a book by its cover, it's the quality of the missions that always matters. Only think about the way you're going to deliver it to your audience once you have a solid amount of material disponible. Once it's all ready, then you can finally start thinking about the "marketing". Edited June 19 by THBP DuckingHeights
