2015 = Not another garage tour invite. Seen it all before.

Ā

2023 = Garage tours have become the new vogue to see cars in GTA online.

Ā

Trying to find some humor here 🤣

Y’all can come to my garage, I happened to have some taste in the type of cars they removed, and knew a few very good heist replay glitches…

Wait no it's a sleazy and easy way to introduce artificial scarcity.

For anyone who doesn't want to count, they took out 186 cars.

How many did they keep? I think 186 is a bit more than "some", should have said "we are removing most cars"

Nearly 200 cars. That's like 10 updates worth of cars. Even for GTA+ subscription bait this is overkill, they only have so many display slots. It's, what, 5 at Simeons, 2 at the luxury dealer, prize and podium 1 each and another 5 at the VCC, which is only on PS5/XS anyway? So they're gonna cycle 186 cars through 14 slots, several of which are gonna be used for new cars anyway, so maybe more like 10 slots? They'd need to add, like, 10 more showrooms or something. And I don't think most GTA+ subscribers are that interested in the prestige of a Vacca from 2013, they're probably gonna want new things from their subscription, not access to decade old base game content.

As much as it sucks to see so many cars removed from the in game store, the Game was Starting to break under it's own load. The Game was never designed to have almost 800 Vehicles, it was never meant to last more than 10 years either, but it did, and we've gotten a lot of mileage out of it.

ADropInTheOcean

I'm going through the list and jesus f*ck, this is unbelievable, especially if you're into classics... Just to keep it in perspective, today we lost:

  • Pretty much every single legacy sports / supercar from GTA IV (Comet, Infernus, Feltzer, Bullet, etc.)
  • Pretty much every singleĀ 2013 base-gameĀ supercar besides the Adder (Entity XF, Cheetah, Vacca, Voltic, etc.)
  • Almost every single vintage European sports car (Stirling, Stinger, Michelli, Swinger, GT500, JB700, etc.)
  • Almost every single retro European sports car (Torero, Viseris, Pigalle, Rapid GT Classic, etc.)
  • Almost every other European car from the 1970s - 1980s (Zion Classic, Nebula Turbo, Cheburek, Warrener, etc.)
  • The only two vintage Japanese sports cars (190Z andĀ Savestra)
  • Pretty much every endurance-racing / Le Mans type car besides the LM87 (S80RR, RE-7B, ETR-1,Ā Tyrus)
  • A number of really beloved sports and supers that still remained extremelyĀ popular up until today for their affordability (Jester, Massacro, Furore GT, Seven-70, etc.)
  • Inexplicably, a bunch of cars that not too long ago were updated with new modifications (Sentinel, Futo, Praire, Schwartzer, again the Stirling GT, etc.)
  • The supercar with the highest top speed in the game (811)
  • So many goddamn bikes that I am left to assume that these are probably the majority of them

As someone who's been playing this game since launch, I am lucky to own at least one or two copies of each one in this list, but newer players and/or those returning after a hiatus just outright won't have the same privilege. This is a greedy, shameless choice and I wish GTA:O players would actually make a fuss about this and hold Rockstar accountable just goddamn once.

What a load of crap. Couldn't they have added a search function instead of removing vehicles?

a small indie dev studio like them don’t have the resources for a search function, that’s way to hard

Ā

gotta give them a break

I think it’s just a way to make sure players buy the newer (and more expensive) vehicles over the older and more ā€œaffordableā€ vehicles that are just as good, if not better, in terms of performance and looks.

This point is kind of moot considering they're still in the game's code, we just can't buy them anymore. They've effectively achieved nothing.

I really dont know what to say... it seems R* is composed mostly by a bunch of incompetents nowaday. How this can be a "QoL" improvement? I cant believe this was requested by community tru feedback...

This doesn't help players especially those who like vanilla cars/old updates cars nor helps newcomer players...Ā

So i will need to wait one of this vehicles to pop up at the lucky wheel in order to get it? Incredible...

Ruiner or Injection at the lucky wheel...

Nah bro, it was just to "streamline the browsing experience", Rockstar would never lie bro

I expected a good amount of those to go but not this many. This is probably the most negative part of this update for me, yeah. I mean, personally I don't particularly care myself about buying any of these vehicles, but it's waaaaaaaaaay too deep of a cut considering some of the vehicles in that list that others might want.

Ā

They did go for least used in total I'm sure, but relying just on the raw stats may not have been the best choice here, if that's what happened.

Ā

I don't yet buy into the whole FOMO and GTA+ theories because you can't really make some of those removed vehicles "premium", paying subs probably wouldn't want them anyway - too old, whatever. The subscription content would probably focus on the higher-end vehicles.

What about not cutting any vehicles at all? What about not doing this predatory FOMO insanity, as if GTA Online doesn't already have enough perverse anti-consumer practices? Discussing what vehicles should or shouldn't have been cut is a non-starter because the answer is that *none* should have been. Considering how many people play the game, it's pretty much a given that even the least-loved cars will still be the favorites of a few thousands of players.Ā This benefits exactly no one but Rockstar with their newly-gained ability to sell back these vehicles incrementally in limited occasions.

I honestly fail to imagine that a Entity XF or a Massacro has been used less than a Baller LE LWB tbf, I would really like to know how they chose these vehicles.

When I found out that Jimmy Saville and Rolf Harris were convicted paedophiles, it felt like betrayal of my childhood memories.

Ā

Rockstar scrubbing the past and pretending it never happened feels weirdly similar, like a subjective gaslighting technique. I swear we could buy the Carbonizarre in the past? No sonny, it's a figment of your imagination: this is a brand new game and none of that was ever real 🤣.

Ā

Too many cars but not enough garage space in the past. Now it's the opposite. Burgeoning car collectors will be so angry right now.

Say they've removed the vehicles to "streamline the experience", how does removing a Comet provide that? the vehicle was removed from Benny's as well, what's clogging up that website that needed fixing?

Ā

Pff.

Did you suddenly forget the Vinewood Car Club? I also don't see how you can not see this as FOMO? You want a car XYZ, you couldn't buy it for whatever reason, or you were waiting for it to be discounted, and now you need to wait for Rockstar gracefully add those back in for limited time, and probably without the discount in the first place...

Delete half of the absolute bloat of the internet then. If necessary create a new vehicle website. If old gen is holding us all back. Cut the support! xb1 andĀ ps4 have had waaaaayy longer thanĀ ps3 and xb360 ever did.

Also, I am pretty sure that the whole "we're picking these based on statistical data on which vehicles are the least-used" thing is just outright not true. A pretty natural appeal to players in a game that's so heavily reliant on grinding, especially to newbies, is the price tag on these vehicles -Ā and it just so happens that a lot of the cars that were removed were, who could have guessed, pretty cheap and widely accessible to most players. Are you telling me the original Coquette, the Jester, the Massacro, the Akuma, the Hakuchou, the Bati 801, etc., aren't still broadly popular vehicles in the GTA community? As a matter of fact, I am willing to bet that these might actually outright be *more* popular than most newer sports / bikes simply because they're so cheap and so easy to get earlier on.

I literally bought the Massacro yesterday thinking it might be removed.

Ā

You're telling me the Bati 801 got removed too? pfff.... I can't remember if you can find that one on the street or not, I know you can for the HakuchouĀ

Wait, that just hit me: so you can't get the Comet Retro now? So the *only* classic Porsche that exists in the game is no longer obtainable?
