The List Of All The Cars Removed From The Websites

I still haven’t quite figured out how R* is planning to make money out of this.

Surely some people will start buying GTA+ to get a certain car or feel special, but more will give up trying to get these cars in this game. I mean if you have the money to blow on GTA+ you can afford Forza Horizon subscription.

AND THEY ACTUALLY EXPECTED PEOPLE TO BUY SHARKCARDS DURING LIMITED RETURN WEEKS?! Again, for every one who gave money to R*, more will be saving up just in case their favorite car makes a return. You don’t wanna buy some strange property because “this could be fun” and miss your only chance to get a Grotti Stinger GT this year.

and say you did everything R* wanted you to do. The fruit of all the money and energy spent, all going to zero in 2 years. Congrats, you just encouraged R* to make us do that for god knows how many more years.

AND YES I AM AWARE THERE ARE PEOPLE who think $6 a month is not money. Trust me, the layer of truffle on my risotto is more impressive that yours… but I’m not a moron.

Now the real test to see if Rockstar truly LiStEnS tO tHeIr CuStOmErS! The feedback has been almost universally negative. The only person I have seen defending this is some clown in a Discord server, mostly out of spite to keep arguing with some other guy nobody in the server seems to like. Besides that, no. I've seen next no positive feedback. And the YouTube comments on all of these topics are tearing Rockstar to shreds too. If they truly listen, this will be reversed.

But at best, because we already know Rockstar doesn't give two f*cks long as those checks keep coming, the most we may get is a typical corporate bullsh*t response like "we hear you" and then they'll try to create some half assed solution to a problem that they created I'm willing to bet money that is how they'd respond.

That's the thing, I don't think that is the full objective here. At this moment there's removed vehicles for sale at Simeon's (Landstalker XL) and at the LS Car Meet (the GP1 and the Verlierer), they won't "lock" obtaining older, lower performance cars behind a subscription, that's not even attractive from a business sense, nobody would want those old vehicles by paying real money, so it's not truthful to say that all these vehicles are now locked behind the subscription, nor does it make much sense for most of them.

Like yes, the Stinger GT(?) is at the Vinewood Car Club atm, but it will most likely cycle through and appear in other places as well and vice-versa. As I see it, every week will have at least one-two removed vehicle(s) at the Lucky Wheel, Simeon's, Luxury Autos, LSCM or even the Vinewood Car Club, the problem (other than this being a thing, I get it, but now that it is...) is that an exorbitant amount of vehicles have been removed from the websites which means it would take absolute ages to cycle through them all via Simeon/Luxury/Lucky Wheel/Car Meet (unless it was done daily), and most importantly, removes a ton of choice for people who wanted to buy a specific vehicle that is still relevant or funny to just buy on a whim.

Let's be real, they would not attract anybody to GTA+ by putting like a Patriot on the Vinewood Car Club for example. So that's 100% not the only reason why all these vehicles have been removed from the websites, and neither they are locked behind GTA+ because you can get them from those other places and even other players (in Gen9), plus they will cycle around. It's more the amount of them that was kinda shocking. I did think they were gonna go for the oldest or least-performant stuff that most people, including hardcore fans, don't drive, not this big of a chunk of the catalogue.

Good news in terms of vehicles is that they've permanently unlocked the limited-time stuff from Drug Wars, so hopefully there's some reconsideration done on this side of things too.

tl;dr: I don't think this is fully GTA+ related, but I agree this change is really bad because even with the regular cycle it would take ages for people to get their wanted cars, and removes choice. More artificial scarcity (typical from live service games like this) so people wait for their desired car, than trying to "peddle subscriptions".

My two cents FWIW is that it absolutely is mostly about peddling GTA+ subscriptions. You're right that not every last car is an obvious candidate for getting people to subscribe to obtain them. But they removed nearly two hundred vehicles in one fell swoop. Most of these are going to entice someone, somewhere. And the average, stupid vehicles also provide them something of a curtain of obfuscation: "See? We were just streamlining like we said! It's not at all about GTA+!" And meanwhile stuff like the Stinger GT is at Vinewood Car Club.

Maybe I'm getting a little tinfoil hat here, but it feels to me like they just want to give the fanboy continent a tiny bit of ammo to defend this absolutely ghastly change. Having a certain vocal minority out there continually saying that everything is fine and they're still doing a good job may help them not to lose players, I dunno.

Anyway, we can at least agree this is a wretched development, whatever their true and precise motives may be.

Predatory sh*t like this pretty much validates my choice to stay far, far away from GTA:O.  Now if in SP, I can’t use the Enhanced Native Trainer, or some similar menu to get at these same vehicles, yeah…..might have to seriously think about staying away from GTA 6

Expanded & Enhanced? More like Removed & Disabled :kekw:

I removed GTA V from my hard drive. Gonna need space for Starfield anyway :kekw:

Officer Friendly

So a few days ago I read the preview that they would be removing some vehicles.

I was like ok maybe something like 10-15 of the really old 1st gen cars that are boring and somewhat outdated.

Then today I see the list...................I dont even know what to say.

Clearly they're testing what new monetization schemes they can get away with in GTAV Online before implementing them in GTA6 Online. Well, good. Better that the worst ideas fail now than get baked into GTA6 in a way that's fatal to enjoyment of that game.

It's possible we "did it to ourselves" in the sense that this new strategy of artificial scarcity follows experiments earlier in the year with a few limited-availability vehicles. Those must have gone pretty well! Besides just making more money, our GTAO overlords are probably also meaning to thwart a sense of having won the game. They've made "owning everything" more elusive, even for in-game billionaires who were formerly only limited by garage space. Will players be more or less engaged after this? Rockstar will have lots of data on that soon.

I agree with this sentiment (the whole post, just didn't want to put a wall of text in the quote) as well, it just doesn't seem to make much financial sense. What I do wonder, and what some folks more qualified here to speak on the matter might know or can shed some light on; was there a potential background technical issue that they might be trying to solve with regard to this? Maybe some database bloat somewhere or something along those lines? I did catch that someone had mentioned a new tunables variable of Disabled/Enabled, so I would reckon that would be somewhat of a blow to my theory but my background is in IT and I can't help but wonder.

Regarding the whole GTA+/Subscription model, I've been certainly wondering about the next iteration of GTA:O for a long time and whether they might try to push it more to an "MMO" style game with a paid sub. Part of me would be somewhat ok with that on PC just by virtue of having actual R* owned and managed servers with proper anti-cheat and a well thought out support system.

Now they showed us what real GRAND theft auto means, taking 200 cars at once from us. Also they lie and saying it's for better better in game web, that's like saying f*ck you to our faces.

Or have them actively spawn with NPC's driving them, aren't we tired of the same old NPC vehicles?

No, because who'd have guessed in a game called "Grand Theft Auto", that it would be designed in such a way, that when you "thieve automobiles", you're told you can't keep them, because they're worth more than $100k and you didn't buy them off a website - a website which may not even feature the damn vehicle anymore.
Beggars belief who supports decisions like that!

(I also absolutely agree that NPC vehicle choices should be updated (I even made a list) and that at the very least, if we're not able to store them to keep for ourselves, we can "break them down" or take them to the scrapyard or something - for cash).

This is like 1/5 of the vehicles in the game gone from the store, some of which came with fairly recent updates. What tf were they thinking?!

Even cayo update and hsw vehicles weren’t safe

The issue isn’t console limitations or anything for organizing. This is the same company that never updated the traffic spawn list because then you could save money by stealing them from the street.
$$$$

The vehicles are now rarer, as time moves along these vehicles will grow in popularity.. who knows when we will see them again.

it sucks because how is it that two days ago had more content than today?

Its rather easy to see how they plan on making money with it.

First of all, the new players, who this is mostly aimed at, have no real concept about whats new and whats old.

If they see a car they like and its only being sold through the club for a limited time the are likely to get the subscription in order to get the car to not miss out.

A similar thing is still possible with veterans. If they want a specific car for their collection and can only get it through GTA+ they might also sign up and pay up, although in far smaller quantities.

And its very clear this is the intention by just looking at the list and seeing what cars were removed. Its a quite big chunk of vehicles that were popular in racing and even on top of their class. The actually understandeble "lesser used cars" were just in there to hide the fact that it wasnt about lesser used, but what might sell GTA+ to the gullible folks havent bought it yet.

Regarding technical:

I dont see any technical reason for it.

The cars are just invisible on the site. The info is still there.

Its like putting a screen wall in front of a burning serverrack. Its still on fire, you know its on fire, you are doing exactly nothing to put it out and the screen might catch fire to and increase the problem.

R* themself said its to "improove user experience", so I doubt it was technical.

Especially since the sites ran fine on my old PC that was older than the game.

I partially agree with this. After all I did ask for rotating vintage and “used” car sales in GTA 6 wishlists. I have no issue with artificially scarcity and making some cars more special.

but if they really are to do that, whether a car shows up shouldn’t be up to weekly event, it should be like street car spawn or gun vans where the chances can not be manipulated (in a way).

I think the reason why so many people are pissed are the same as when R* held Jester Classics and some car’s liveries back. We deserve to have consistent expectations for contents that’s originally in the game and supposedly avaliable to all.

Another (admittedly very expensive) workaround is current gen consoles, LSCM allows you to buy cars off of other players, so if another player has a vehicle you want, you can get it that way.

Other platforms don't have this option sadly.

Considering it doesn't need raytracing and powerful gpu/cpu to sell cars to others in LSCM, they could have added it easily to ps4/one/pc.

I was preparing for some removals, but seeing the entire list, I missed quite some cars....

They fact they didn't make a separate filter in SSASA and just removed them, doesn't sound improvement at all. What did they improve here....

Has Rockstar updated the traffic system then? Most of these cars spawned in large numbers on the roads, I take it there's a block on stealing cars and keeping them on this list.
