The Challenge San Andreas

I like the idea of this mod, so far I enjoyed the LS part and some of the badlands missions, after that, especially in the beginning SF, where I am currently, I was pretty disappointed as there were next to no changes to make the missions more difficult, I think a timer and more explosives would improve Wear Flowers in Your Hair for example, a change of weapons for all enemies in Ran Fa Li would neat too. I know there's plans for the future to improve the mod, these are just some suggestions. Also Im pretty sure the game cant be completed 100% because of the driving school mission PIT Maneuver, the other cop car is too fast and you can never catch up to it and speaking of cop cars, since they have a different, more menacing livery, I'd like to see them exploding if you crash with them at full speed somewhere :p.

Driving school is possible only with frame limiter on (save and restart if necessary).

Some of what you suggested has been done in version 1.1 so I would assume you played 1.0?

I appreciate your suggestions, the idea with the cop car exploding is interesting.

 

A lot more is coming in version 1.2, some missions have been heavily modified, some slightly. Oh, a lot of new vehicles and quality of life improvements too.

I've been observing it since it's release and I'm genuinely impressed with the quality of the mod and your development. 

However, when I've tried to play version 1.1, I've had a big issue. After mission Nines and AK's some kind of autosaving was activated in my game. But the problem is that it's not really an auto, since the saving window pop up. More than that, when I save my game, game teleports me really high in the sky and I immediately start falling down and die. I actually lost my RPG from Ryder mission, which was really sad. 

Moreover, next mission, Drive-Thru(which is insanely hard btw, I suggest to tune it's difficulty down a bit, actually) I failed more than ten times and after each fail I've been teleported to this floppy drive in the sky and asked to save my game, which is absurdly in itself, but when I declined, this window popped up a few times more, until I fell out of activation zone. 

I really enjoyed mod until this moment and actually glad, that someone doing such huge conversion mod for SA, since there's not a lot of them, compared to VC and III. 

So, my question is what kind of problem this is, how can I fix it or disable this functionality for good? It's not really comfortable, compared to other autosave mods, that occupy extra slot, not require to manually save your game every time and not teleport you anywhere.

Are you sure you don't have anything extra installed in your San Andreas folder?

If not have you tried removing your save files and gta_set before starting a new game?

I played the game multiple times and watched people playing, never seen anything like it. It's well... interesting.

 

The autosave feature is disabled by default so I'm assuming CJ teleported / fell into the "interior world" and you landed on the exact spot of a save marker which is insanely unlucky.

The other possibility would be that you "duped" a mission which is possible but will break the game since Silent patch is installed.

 

No idea how to fix that for now, since it's extremely rare I would recommend getting some autosave mod (like the ones given with chaos mod or rainbomizer work well).

Hey, enable the frame limiter, save and restart the game, this should fix it.

Sometimes the frame limiter is not enabling properly, your car's chassis is wiggling in your video so it's not enabled.

No idea why the limiter needs a restart for some people. Hope it helps!

Will fix this for the next version if possible, change the car with something else or otherwise I will restore original speed for this car

Great idea, Betting Shops will be unlocked after the mission "Against All Odds" and the max amount you can bet at once will be 10000$.

 

Some people have been having a lot of crashes related to the audio, it may be because some people have a different AUDIO folder (from another version of the game?).

So next version I will provide my AUDIO folder as a download too, hopefully it's ok to do so (not against rules).

Another idea: in the "Up, Up and Away!" mission, you can remove the pickup truck from interacting with the minigun, since you can get an almost infinite minigun with the jetpack. - click

After playing the mod for days I finally found and fixed the issue!

 

IMPORTANT

One feature is breaking the pickups and corrupting savefiles in version 1.1 - I apologize for this issue please avoid this version for now.

It can be triggered under certain conditions (doing missions in a certain order or buying certain properties) so that's why it took me a long time to find and fix.

 

This problem is fixed in 1.2 and that version is coming in less than a week from now.

A lot of work on some missions, fixes, 10 new cars will be added, and more ... Here is a small spoiler

I've had a thought of sharing video of the problem or savefile, but I was out of town since last message and didn't have access to my PC. 

I am so happy, that you've been able to replicate this issue with just my vague description. 

Can't wait to start my playthrough again, hopefully without any problems this time.

If you read my previous post you can see explanation for that.

It's fixed in 1.2 and all other problems too so please be patient for 1.2.

 

1.2 is ready to release. I'm currently making videos and playing it more to make sure everything is perfect.

It's kinda a good thing that 1.1 went under the radar since it had a huge problem (solved in 1.2).

Ok that's understandable. It's a neat mod btw and I have a few notes after I just got past Catalina's missions.

-The only mission I had to retry since I failed was Robbing Uncle Sam because I broke too many boxes and got in a softlock until Ryder died because there isn't a fail state for breaking too many boxes. (Dunno if this was fixed in 1.1 since I was playing on 1.0.0 the whole time)

-I feel like removing the crosshair isn't entirely a bad idea but my suggestion is that it should be given back to the player as a reward for getting gangster skill level on the gun. Since the animation of unskilled CJ with two handed weapons is hip firing (and therefore he isn't actually aiming, just guessing the same way we are when trying to aim without a crosshair) it works perfectly for when he actually shoulders the weapon and aims down the sights.

-Are miniguns still spawning around the map?

-Blocking off pay and spray with immovable objects is a reeeally cheap way of increasing difficulty, especially since the transfender right next to the pay n spray in los santos is open and you can just respray your car for an additional 50$. I think instead of blocking them with immovable objects you should increase the price of spraying your car to something like 1000-5000$ or even make it dependent on the player's wanted level.

-Since you're including QOL mods with your file, I want to suggest sprint with all weapons since a similar mod was included with Tightened Vice.

- Robbing Uncle Sam: I did break all the boxes when trying the mission, the mission failed so I guess it can be random.

- All the weapon pickups have been removed / moved / replaced. Minigun is still obtainable all the time on one spot on the map.

- The point of blocking some pay n spray is to surprise the players and force them to find another solution or go further.

- I thought about adding sprint with all weapons already it's too OP. It makes sense having to move slower with heavier weapons.

Hi. I have an issue:

 

Whenever I try to run the game I get the "Cannot find 1920x1080x32 video mode". Now, I understand that probably my GPU is not that good but I was wondering if I am able to remove any graphical enhancements from the game? The normal game works just fine without any graphics mods.

There are no graphical mods other than skygfx which is just here to put back PS2 shaders and grass, so you can run this even with a terrible laptop from 2011 (that's what I did).

 

That issue that you have: start a vanilla game, then look if you have a gta_set file generated in your documents, it should be fixed then.

If that is still not working go into the "script" folder and you can edit the ini files and change the resolution there.

For some older 32 bits systems the game may not start or crash.

So I've been playing 1.2 a bit and the changes to the weapon pick ups are really neat, makes me want to explore the map a bit more. I also like the new weapons, they feel like they fit into the game well.

The only issue I've been having is that it seems like NPCs aren't dropping guns or money when not on a mission. I didn't see this in the changelog so I don't think it was intentional. I can replicate it by opening a new save or an old one and killing an NPC with a gun that doesn't ever drop in either case. Not sure if this is a side effect of the winter mod that I used modloader to install because I thought it would work well to make the game even harder. (Vice Tightened also had a snowy weather mod)

Other than that, great mod so far, it's lots of fun. If you're taking suggestions that would make the game harder, I'll suggest adding more restricted areas that give you a wanted level (shipping yards in LS SF and LV, airports, maybe a custom military base or something like that in the woods, etc).

Now I am aware that weapons pickups can despawn way faster than usual, it was fixed in the previous version BUT it was the reason why the savefiles were corrupted so had to reroll that.

No plans for snow so yeah if you want some snow and add a snow mod it's possible but can cause glitches.

 

Yes I'll take suggestions, even if I don't do some of them it can be useful to take notes and improve the mod by other means.

I like the idea of adding restricted areas, good idea. It looks easy to do so I may try and test soon.

 

By the way, I will try to make a program that will be an interactive map for all the pickups, collectibles and spawns with a menu.

Mmh should be fixed, might be related with the snow mod? I did a 16-17h playthrough with 1.2 and had this issue 0 times.

Should be unlocked as soon as the Green Sabre is done.
