The Challenge San Andreas

Hi there, I'm having a lot of trouble getting the mod to work properly. Whenever I start a new game, the game crashes shortly after it loads CJ in the alley. I've copied and pasted the files from "GTA San Andreas - The Challenge" into my game folder, and I'm also using the audio fix that you provided, so it's definitely not the incorrect audio. I've also tried deleting all save files and the .set file, but that hasn't solved the problem either. I have no other mods in my game's folder, apart from the essentials like eax.dll, vorbis.dll, vorbisFile.dll and vorbisHooked.dll. I've noticed that whenever I launch the game, I get an error message about limit adjuster. The error message is:

Unable to load $fastman92limitAdjuster.asi. Error: 126

EDIT: As expected, deleting the limit adjuster asi file mentioned above doesn't make a difference.

Don't delete the limit adjuster, game will never work without it and it's not the reason why the game crashes, it provides the reason why.

 

Launch the game and after the crash send me cleo log (.txt in cleo folder), fastman92 log (.txt in main folder) and modloader log (.txt in modloader folder) so I can have a look and see what's up.

 

Now I had the exact same issue after a windows update, here is what I did:

- I had to disable all DAP settings for gta-sa.exe (pointed to the challenge folder).

- Forced admin rights on the app (for all users).

- You may want to disable app trust protection in windows defender since it shuts down the game after ~30s. which is what you seem to have.

 

Version 1.5 is ready, but for that kind of the problem I don't think it will change anything, it's a windows issue that happens for some people.

Logs sent via private message. Couldn't find a fastman92 log.
I also tried disabling DEP settings and protection in Windows Defender, but it didn't solve the problem. There are no admin restrictions on any files.

Hi Polyvalord.

 

So I just made this account today, because I'm having "audio" issues with the game. I've installed the game like you mentioned in the readme, as well what was posted on here through other pages. (I did try to DM you, but due to being new account, I'm not allowed, which is fair). I got a pop up with "audio issues" it's talking about SFX Pain_A and GENRL, they are the two issues I'm having, so far. I've copied and pasted from the folder you provided, I've done it from steam too still getting the error. I don't know if it's an issue with 1.45 or if I'm being a derp. The mod looks fantastic though, seems like it will be great fun, much better then the "Vice City HardLined" that mod has put me off from playing it. But anyway, hope to hear from you soon, thank you in advanced. :) 

 

P.s. I did do ADMIN rights too, it's just whenever I enter a vehicle it would do it, I haven't ran to BIG SMOKE yet because I feel it will crash and waste my time.

For people still having compatibility issues and crashes, those have been fixed in 1.5 for most people.

 

I say most because for some people, the game still closes after ~30 seconds or when starting a new game.
There is a post on here on how to fix that specific issue:

It's for blackops but you can apply the same tutorial to your gta-sa.exe file, works the same. Can fix issues for a modded VC or GTA III copy too.


Since a recent windows update, some windows defender features can close certain programs on purpose if they are suspected to be harmful even when they are not. Usually happens when the game is supposed to read or write.

 

Follow everything provided in the readme file in the challenge folder first, and after that, if the game still crashes I recommend the fix above (it worked for me and some people).

 

If after doing everything game still crashes there is absolutely nothing I can do. Just bad luck (I guess).

The Challenge is slowly turning into a DLC / NG+

Here are many improvements on some cars since I have been learning a lot about modeling / texturing recently

 

Convertibles now have 3D steering wheels, extras & Savanna has been completely repaired (shadow, lights, collisions, textures):

Some luxury / sport cars have tainted windows and extra backlights:

Some others needed fixes concerning shadows, wheels and damaged parts:

About 27 vehicles did get improvements concerning textures, models, tyres, extras, etc.

Some guns and melee weapons now have reflective materials.

Hey, I'm here to thank you for all the hard work you've done. This, indeed, feels like an extention or entire dlc to original game and it's amazing! 

I'm sorry, that you've been dealing with a lot of negativity recently, but you should know, there's plenty of people here, who really appreciate you and the mod, that you've created. 

Many of us would be upset, if you quit updating this mod, or creating the mods in general, but if it will make you feel better, than you should do that. 

I just wish you happiness in your life and hope to see you again, one way or another. 

Man it's ok not listening to others, if you always do how others say your mod will lose your vision (which i genuinely liked). What you can do is justify SOME changes, thst's it. Throwing your work because someone prefers something else or doesn't get the point of it, i don't support that

Sorry to hear that.. also i don't understand why put hate on a modder.. You guy's made things for our favorite game for free and you don't owe us a single thing.. 

And this conversion for GTA SA is quit insane, it's like a new San Andreas so thank you for that seriously, i speak for all the sane person here.

TYSM! Couldn't fix the crashes, but this worked. 

Really great mod.

I can find Golden Desert Eagle in Las Venturas when I was playing the mission "Up, Up, and Away!" But I still want to know where can I find Golden Mac. Don't tell us that's a secret, come on man!

A casino in LV has a door with a marker, you can even enter the marker with a bike

The Challenge is down bad, I made something a billion times better:

 

Stop playing The Challenge and try that gem instead!
 

I truly hope you guys are going love this one, it doesn't have any extra cars, weapons, random events, personal vehicles, new collectibles, QoL improvements, new textures, new models, improved icons, increased traffic, easy difficulty, extra pickups, gang territory skip or new sounds. BUT it's better because it's like super difficult. Cheers!

Very thanks man, I found Golden Mac with the guide of yours. But do you really think that buliding is a casino? I think it's a hotel or something what.

Hotel / Casino, need to verify that. Anyway, I'll add easy to find notes around the map that describe where the unique weapons are. As well adding hints when you pickup certain outfits and weapons.

I have achieved 100%! Your mod is very nice. Some mission is difficult, but after my trying,  I completed them. Also, I obtained many unique vehicles. All in all, I like this mod. Fantastic!
But I found a glitch. After I completed End of the Line, I can't get personal vehicles! Ganton, Chinatown and around Toreno's Ranch. I can't find the guys to get my personal vehicles! Do you know why man?

The guys for the personal vehicles are optional, they stop spawning after End Of The Line. You can still call your personal vehicles. They will probably be replaced by info markers soon.

Your uzi has a much longer range while on a jetpack, you can shoot all of them before they can see you
