Vicoo
Hi everyone! Sorry if this is being posted on a wrong forum. I didn't see any section that could fit "other games modding" subject, so i decided to post here to not do any s**t. By the way, one of the games that most marked my childhood was F1 Challenge 99-02, which is an F1 racing simulator that was the predecessor of rFactor series. In addition to having excellent gameplay, it also allowed the creation of content mods relatively simply, which allowed it to stay popular for almost 20 years. Unfortunately, nowadays almost nobody plays or creates mods for this game. The only scene still active on the game does content mods for the it (mostly for vintage F1 seasons and other categories), but what i really miss for that game (and the main reason that i'm posting this here in GTA Forums) is mods that fix things like compatibility issues with Windows 7+, proper xinput support (and smoother analog controls to Xbox-like controllers), support for PNG for textures and maybe OBJ format, some features like spectator mode and maybe a modloader that would embed a scripting engine like Duktape to create JavaScript mods for the game. Sadly, with the F1C community dwindling day after day, i can't see it becoming true any time soon. So that's the major reason i posted this plea here. I feel this community, if interested, could use their knowledge of dll injection and stuff used in GTA modding to try to apply it on F1C to fix the major issues of it and maybe renovate that game to a new generation to appreciate it. So, sorry if i'm sounding a little bit spongy with that post, but i really feel this is a far cry to see that game shine again.
smokeless6
I played this one a lot, but not any longer. Codemasters' series is really good and has the best career modes in sim racing so that's my choice today. Good luck in your search.
DEALUX
The Codemasters F1 games starting with 2010 all seem to work on modern PCs. Some may require assistance from PCGamingWiki but I did install the older ones and I can confirm they work. They might not be the same as the series made by EA but the Codemasters games are usually pretty solid.
