[REL | WIP | RDR] Reality Redemption - Overhaul Project

I'm looking forward to finally giving the game a full replay with this mod and the PC version.
 

Stuttering and shader nonsense is infuriating to me after just a few minutes, so I couldn't really do anything but slightly mess around in the world on either Ryu and Yuzu some months back.

 

I have the game for PS5, and it looks amazingly clean due to the native 4K with FSR AA, but I want to experience it again with the mod. Haven't done the story since PS3 release.

A big thanks to Lenny and all who contribute to making this wonderful title even more realistic. Can't wait for PC version on Tuesday and, although having begrudgingly paid for this title twice already (PS3,, & XBox One) will be paying another £39.99 for the official PC release just to use the mod enhancements on here.

This game seems to have a cult following now. I don't know about anyone else, but RDR2 although vastly superior in almost every aspect, doesn't capture the feel of the old west quite like RDR1. 

 

Hello guys, have a question. Installed the mod, love it, everything is great. Except there is some weird thing with shadows oh horses. They shimmer/flicker as if their resolution is 16×16. I use ryujinx ryujinx r.6253fe1 emulator latest fork version.

My man, the game releases today on pc, is there any ETA of when can we expect your patch to work with the game? I am wondering if the conversion will take you a long time because if thats the case then I will wait to buy it

As soon as the tools are available for PC, might take a week at best, but I'll do my best to do it 1-2 days after the PC release.

Your mod is becoming obligatory like a Silent Patch or SkyGFX for me now haha, I don’t wanna play without it.

Files look to be very identical to the Switch/PS4 versions, if you have Steam or Epic version, you can try this and see if it works for now (RIP R* users, that crappy launcher auto downloads edited files no matter what)

 

Install 2.6 for the Switch, then grab fragments.rpf from that version and replace your PC version's fragments.rpf with it.

 

You could try replacing other .rpf files too but I'm not sure if those'll work fine. mapres.rpf might work fine too, not sure.

 

If you do, let me know if this worked for you. You can check the textures on the oak trees near Bonnie's house and see if the trunk is HD.

 

 

Keep in mind, this is just for testing and might/might not work, if it works, it could be a temporary solution until I do a proper PC port.

The 360 version had a way around this, it was used by updates and as far as I've seen, this mod used it for the 360 version too:

 

create a custom patch0_xenon.rpf

or                                             } place base game files in either of them to load them as higher priority over the original ones, basically works like a modloader.

create a custom dlcpatch0_xenon.rpf

 

 

It doesn't really work anymore after the Double Eleven rebase, however it would be so nice to see other modders reimplement this system back eventually, perhaps via .asi in a similar way, it's such a convenience to not have to replace files + it ensures compatibility of a lot of mods with this damned launcher.

I've tried this out myself considering the file structure is the same. I simply downloaded the Switch version of Reality Redemption and went through the RR-Files folder and replaced each category using MagicRDR that comes with this mod. So far everything seems to be working without any hiccups, unless I'm just too surprised the game actually launched to notice any problems but time will tell.

Everything but the menu options were installed for me.

 

EDIT: I stand corrected. I've being getting Access Violation errors randomly. Could easily be a runtime issue though.

Nvm. Just got my first access violation crash. Will wait for updates. Happens when entering Armadillo.

 

EDIT: Here's something weird. The following files in tune/settings are identical between the game files and the mod. Was this always the case?

  • streamingmap.xml
  • streamingmap_fast.xml
  • buckets.csv
  • envclothmanager.envclothmanager
  • charclothmanager.charclothmanager

I would've done a proper PC version of the mod by now but I keep getting this error every single time I try to launch the game. Haven't found a solution to it either. Crashes right after D11's logo on the intro.

  • Moving the installation directory around to different hard drives and folders
  • Changing folder permissions
  • Verifying integrity of the files
  • Re-installing all requirements like C++ redists
  • Tried compatibility settings
  • Removed RDR's folder from the documents folder

 

If anybody has any ideas about this issue, let me know and I'll try it.

Aye, this is the error I've been getting but it funnily enough it only appears to be after I've copied the files in this mod. It's either happening randomly, a lot of the time at launch, or simply when I exit the game before the startup vids finish. I'm not even sure I've experienced the error on a vanilla install, I've been trying to but nothing so far.

There are people elsewhere saying the usual, closing monitoring software like Afterburner and RivaTuner when running the game.

I'm running on Win11 24H2 26100.1742 and with a 6900XT running on the 24.10.1 driver version.

So I've been installing each folder from the mod and starting up the game to see if it works, since I tried to replace everything before that and got the same error as you. So far I copied the camera, tune and tune_skycycle folder and the game didn't crash yet.

Have you updated your drivers if you're on NVIDIA? Try hard resetting the game's settings. I had this problem after starting Afterburner mid-game. Idk what apps you got running on background but try to disable most

24H2 is giving issues all around for people who mod game files. 
(even pirates complain). if you have dual boot, try 23H2, or older.
that is (of right now) my suggestion. *made this account to say this*. 
bc i am on 23H2 and the game runs fine. i have not tried any files from
here however, but if you wish me to test. i will give it a shot since i can backup
the files i have and restore them just in case things go sideways.

Both are already available over on Nexus mods.

 

I've gone ahead and reinstalled the terrain and character texture changes. Played multiple missions, spent time in the world, and so far no issues. Also installed some mods from Nexus and nothing so far has caused another access violation error.
