It is part of my converter. It also changes the size and texture format. The files I've tested are working, but I'm sure some of the data I've calculated is wrong. The maximum texture size in rdr is 8192x8192 (if I understand correctly how the flags work). Nothing matches what I saw in the video tutorials. I'm actually talking about in xenia when putting the resolution up to 2x2 for example. This causes bright moonlight at night time which is blinding. It's been an issue for ages. I used MagicRDR to export the .dds (DirectDrawSurface) prompts from "/flash/popup.xsf" and "/flash/popup.xsf" to .png After I edited them all (same file dimensions) and wanted to import them back to the .xsf's I got an error: "Missing FOURCC compressed texture". I found this https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/display/directdraw-and-color-space-conversion and though I might have made a mistake when converting the .png files back to .dds. I tried running a batch conversion script with ImageMagick (R8B8G8 without compression) and DirectXTex texture processing library (DXT1). It's the first time I'm working with these files so it must be human error, and since you guys do an amazing job working with the game files and textures, do you know of any alternatives I could use to solve this? All the original files I replaced in the popup xsf (some of the 32x32 button prompts) are DXT5, while the controller preview is DXT1. Thanks a lot, every suggestion is highly appreciated! EDIT: Apparently saving the .dds files manually with PAINT.NET did the job! Shouldn't take long to rebuild EDIT 2: I did the rebuild and while it didn't show any errors, I get a black screen right after the Rockstar intro with patches disabled. I ran the default settings when importing the files into controller .xsf, I didn't check the Compress or the Keep Offset boxes, and didn't change the resource type from 33 or any of both flags. I did select overwrite the current RPF once I saved and I sorted file entries by offset. Not sure if that is just visual or if I messed up. However, I will go back to the .png files (since I have to try everything to find the issue) and run every single one through DxTex to see if that fixes the issue I have with the other .dds files acting weird inside popup.xsf ( https://ibb.co/ZdGMrrN / https://ibb.co/KbCFmCL ). That way I can troubleshoot the problem and make sure it's not the files themselves (since they share the same surface/volume format and size as the originals), and perhaps something wrong with the tool I'm using to import the .dds files (MagicRDR) or maybe an issue rebuilding the .iso (extract-xiso gave me no errors, so I doubt it). I will extract the .iso again from scratch and report back. EDIT 1: extracted the iso again using extract-xiso just fine, edited a couple of stick deadzone values under tune.xml in the camera directory and saved everything. Now I'm trying to rebuild the .iso using extract-xiso as well via Powershell, but I might be tired because I keep getting an error: .\extract-xiso.exe -c .\deadzone\ (that directory is where all the folders, .rpf and default.xex files are) extract-xiso v2.7.1 (01.11.14) for win32 - written by in <[email protected]> creating deadzone.iso: generating avl tree from filesystem: rdr2_layer0.rpfread error: value too large failed! I tried using a terrible GUI and it apparently worked but the game never got to the title screen, just the Rockstar intros (as it did before). I tried on Xenia (no patches) and Xenia Canary (patches activated). Same result, but Xenia actually wrote a crash log. So I figure my main problem for the time being is rebuilding the .iso from the folders. I think the replacement textures are OK, it's just my own fault it when exporting it that crashes the game/ produces a black screen. Could you guys help me with that rebuilding part or point me to any existing documentation for RDR file modding? EDIT 2: Also, how relevant are mip maps for static 2D textures like UI elements? Should I generate them in DxTex?
