Definitive guide on what affects PS2 GTA Criminal Ratings

Criminal Rating. That number local man here is fascinated with. I've found lists detailing how to get Criminal Rating and how many points stuff does, but they have all been incomplete and riddled with errors. Local man did things and compiled a handy list for yous, TESTED BY ME. Oh yeah, and these are for the awesomest original versions of PS2 era GeeTeeAy gaemz, so keep that in mind.

Feel free to post this crap to various WIKIS as a correction and let everyone know my name, Mr. PSX!

Mandatory backstory:

Was trying to figure out stuff and noted that despite minusing all the known instances affecting the rating, I'd still have extra points. I had another save to do this with, a not 100% one, and I could pin point that so things were definitely wonky. Turns out these lists online suck and had things left out for whatever reason. This should be as accurate as it gets. Don't believe me? Try yourself to see.

HERE GOES:

Grand Theft Auto III

- Each $5000 held: 1 point (199.999 points max)

- Each 0.1% of the game completed: 1 point (1000 points max, ~987 points max in v1.40 normally due to buggy things, with another bug, you can have infinite of these in theory)

- Each people you waste: 1 point - this is peoples you've killed with guns and ran over, requires a checkpoint to cash in those points - Pay N' Spray, Saving, Mission Complete, you die before checkpoint you lose points, good day sir - seemingly something doesn't count some instances of points for some reason - could this be pedestrians wasted inside an exploding vehicle?

- Each plane & helicopter destroyed: 30 points

- Each 0.2% of Accuracy: 1 point - YOU NEED TO SHOOT 101 BULLETS BEFORE POINTS KICK IN

- Each criminal killed on Vigilante: 1 point - unlike normal wastings, this is cashed instantly

- Each Paramedic level completed: 10 points

- Each patient rescued: 1 point

- Each fire extinguished: 1 point

- Wasted: -3 points

- Busted: -3 points

- Cheating: +-0 points

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

- Each $5000 held: 1 point (199.999 points max)

- Each 0.1% of the game completed: 1 point (1000 points max)

- Each people you waste: 1 point - this is peoples you've killed with guns and ran over, requires a checkpoint to cash in those points - Pay N' Spray, Saving, Mission Complete, you die before checkpoint you lose points, good day sir - seemingly something doesn't count some instances of points for some reason - could this be pedestrians wasted inside an exploding vehicle?

- Each plane & helicopter destroyed: 30 points

- Each 0.2% of Accuracy: 1 point* - YOU NEED TO SHOOT 101 BULLETS BEFORE POINTS KICK IN

- Each criminal killed on Vigilante: 1 point - unlike normal wastings, this is cashed instantly

- Each Paramedic level completed: 10 points

- Each patient rescued: 1 point

- Each Firefighter level completed: 10 points

- Each fire extinguished: 1 point

- Wasted: -3 points

- Busted: -3 points

- Cheating: +-0 points, -1000 with certain 17 cheats only, these also trigger the warning not to save

* = With Hunter and Sea Sparrow you can abuse this to be more than 100%, but from own experience only on PS2, with PC it increases both Fired and Hit - XBOX unknown

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

- Each $5000 held: 1 point (199.999 points max)

- Each 0.1% of the game completed: 1 point (1000 points max)

- Each people you waste (Total legitimate kills -stat**): 1 point - this is peoples you've killed only with guns, requires a checkpoint to cash in those points - Pay N' Spray, Saving, Mission Complete, you die before checkpoint you lose points, good day sir

- Each plane & helicopter destroyed: 30 points

- Using Hydra, each Hydra shot down and seeing it crash to water: 120 points

- Each 0.2% of Accuracy: 1 point (500 points max)* - YOU NEED TO SHOOT 101 BULLETS BEFORE POINTS KICK IN

- Each criminal killed on Vigilante: 1 point - unlike normal wastings, this is cashed instantly

- Each Paramedic level completed: 10 points

- Each patient rescued: 1 point

- Each Firefighter level completed: 10 points

- Each fire extinguished: 1 point

- Wasted: -3 points

- Busted: -3 points

- Cheating: -10 points + warning not to save, ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS

* = With Hunter and Drive-by-ing you can abuse this to be 100% and at most only 1 bullet higher Hits than Fired, who knows why - on each platform methinks

** = People you've wasted is the true kill count here, people you drive over get counted here, but not as legitimate kills which is the CP point source

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

- Each $5000 held: 1 point (199.999 points max)

- Each 0.1% of the game completed: 1 point (1000 points max)

- Each people you waste: 1 point - this is peoples you've killed with guns and ran over, requires a checkpoint to cash in those points - Pay N' Spray, Saving, Mission Complete, you die before checkpoint you lose points, good day sir - seemingly something doesn't count some instances of points for some reason - could this be pedestrians wasted inside an exploding vehicle?

- Each plane & helicopter destroyed: 30 points

- Each 0.2% of Accuracy: 1 point - YOU NEED TO SHOOT 101 BULLETS BEFORE POINTS KICK IN

- Each criminal killed on Vigilante: 1 point - unlike normal wastings, this is cashed instantly

- Each Paramedic level completed: 10 points

- Each patient rescued: 1 point

- Each Firefighter level completed: 10 points

- Each fire extinguished: 1 point

- Wasted: -3 points

- Busted: -3 points

- Cheating: -1000 points, except +-0 with explode all vehicles and displaying credits, which also do not even trigger the warning not to save

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

- Each $5000 held: 1 point (199.999 points max)

- Each 0.1% of the game completed: 1 point (1000 points max)

- Each people you waste: 1 point - this is peoples you've killed with guns and ran over, requires a checkpoint to cash in those points - Pay N' Spray, Saving, Mission Complete, you die before checkpoint you lose points, good day sir - if something doesn't count in some instances of points for some reason - as with before could this be pedestrians wasted inside an exploding vehicle? Not sure if the same happens here, but is likely since the previous applies in some form as well.

- Each plane & helicopter destroyed: 30 points

- Each 0.2% of Accuracy: 1 point* - YOU NEED TO SHOOT 101 BULLETS BEFORE POINTS KICK IN

- Each criminal killed on Vigilante: 1 point - unlike normal wastings, this is cashed instantly

- Each Paramedic level completed: 10 points

- Each patient rescued: 1 point

- Each Firefighter level completed: 10 points

- Each fire extinguished: 1 point

- Wasted: -3 points

- Busted: -3 points

- Cheating: -1000 points, except +-0 with explode all vehicles which also does not even trigger the warning not to save

* = With Little Nellie you can abuse this to be more than 100% only by shooting pedestrians - on each platform methinks (Hunter I recall also worked, but am not sure right now)

OK so, a short FAQ for peoples who just can't let go with asking certain crap:

Q: Why aren't ye listing vehicles with pedestrians to points?

A: Redundant, as the only thing why you get points from vehicles occupied with pedestrians is because you're wasting peoples in the process. I AM PEDANTIC!

Q: I always thought accuracy was 5 points per 1%? What is this?

A: It doesn't jump along 5 points, it is calculated with 1 point accuracy, just calculate the ratio yourself, then lower it by shooting at nothing for a short burst and see, if it decreases then calculate ratio again. That'll teach you. It's 1 point per 0.2%. I AM PEDANTIC!

Q: Is Vice City Stories legit?

A: Not entirely sure, tested it as much as possible knowing a rating name change point and verified things only a small bit after making the post and then made some fixes if necessary, but it probably mostly goes like the others anyway, despite you not being able to see the actual rating number itself, which was a serious dick move.

Q: What if I note misteaks or missing stuff?

A: Let me know will you? Dunno if there's more that count in any except VCS, seemingly as Patients rescued there seem to also count Air Rescue. That may count as well, not sure.

DISCLAIMER: I know, it says Little Nellie over there instead of Little Willie, but screw it, I ain't fixing that as I find it funny.

Here's a vidya form from this all:
