GTA IV freezes after 20 minutes of normal gameplay. Also textures (shadows?) seem to be broken on some objects/cutscenes.

Hello!

The title, literally. I provide some screens below, maybe someone had this issue before, i tried some internet fixes (-availablevideomem 4000.0 etc.) but it didn't work. Talking only bout GTA IV now, I don't know how the DLCS, I'll check them out and tell you guys. Imgur: The magic of the Internet

So DLC's are same, though I could play for 40+ minutes at least  (artifacts + freeze after some time and I have to CTR ALT DEL the game to turn it off).

I also looked up on the Windows Event Viewer: Imgur: The magic of the Internet

I forgot bout my PC specs: INTEL i5 1235U, integrated Intel IRIS XE graphics, 16GB RAM. Its a laptop but game runs smoothly on medium graphs settings. (medium quality shadows make fps drop to 25 so I set shadows to LOW, rest is medium - high and game runs perfectly fine) - it just freezes like i said.

Hey, some questions, I see you have the steam version there, do you have any mods installed? A trainer? Also I assume you tried reinstalling the game/verify game integrity right?

No mods, pure vanilla, no trainer, nothing. 

Well, I can try to verify files, then reinstall then verify again its always something but I dont think it will help.

Yeh I am saying those questions so people know you tried other things, it can help someone else who might be able to get solution for you faster.

I did everything (apart from reinstalling, I'll do it tommorow) and at least got a FATAL ERROR this time: Imgur: The magic of the Internet. 

I was wondering about video card drivers, gotta upgrade them if possible. (I'll also do it tommorow :D)

Yeah no problem, also welcome to gtaforums!

So you verified game files and it found you that? When reinstalling, allow the game to download everything, directx and all that, update the drivers too.

You don't mean upgrade right? You have a laptop as you said.

 

Also to insert image to your post, just mouse right click open image in new tab

and you get this link https://i.imgur.com/wbDlzur.png  (paste it on your post and image appears, if you so want, sometimes can take a bit for it to load)

or click "display text" to just display it as text like I did here.

Even after updating the drivers? Sorry to hear it still has issues. I believe it's your system then for it to have those graphical problems, at least you have tried everything else.

You could try lowering to off the shadow, and view distance set to 1, maybe that can help. Or all settings to lowest.

But I am guessing you already tried that. Maybe someone else will be able to help you out but like I said it might be your laptop there.

Well, actually I was messing around with the drivers (in the windows device manager itself) cause i saw that driver version didnt go "up" after i installed new driver from Intel site. 

So i deinstalled the original driver (using properties in dev. manager), installed it again using properties AND THEN I installed the newest version from intel AND BOOOOOOOOOOOM no artifacts on trees, cars, buildings etc., 

 

gotta see if the game will turn off again but it shouldnt now.

Thanks for help man! Im saying all this so maybe someone can get over with this optimalization sh*t more easily.
