Any tips on hostile gangs during fire truck/paramedic missions?

So I’m trying to get the achievements in “GTA Trilogy: GTA III” on Xbox Series X where you need to finish the vigilante, fire truck, and paramedic missions on all islands? I’m working on Portland right now; and for whatever reason: Since all the gangs are hostile on me, I notice those “Mafia suit/sunglasses” guys wielding big shotguns always just end up obliterating me during these side missions? Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to get around that or how to make the gangs not hostile towards your character? Should I have maybe done these earlier in the game instead of saving them for after I finished the entire GTA III story?? Should just start a brand new game save in order to do these missions correctly without outside interference from hostile gangs? 
 

How am supposed to finish the game 100% completion under this situation/circumstance? Thank you.

Paramedic can be done on any island, you just need to reach and beat level 12. Vigilante and Fire don't have to be done in a single go, as long as you do 20 total on each island. So you can keep restarting them until it shows up outside of Mafia territory.

Ah ok!!! I’ll try that then! I know I have put out some fires without them doing it to me? So if I just put out 20 fires on the island regardless of it’s all in one go or not, it should still work for the achievement? Thanks I’ll try that and see if it works and let you know if it did or not?

Yep! 20 in total on each island for police and fire. 

 

There are extra achievements for police and fire, you must get 15 in a row with each. This can be done on any island though, so you can do those on not-portland pretty easily.

If it's just for the achievement, start a brand new game and do the Paramedic missions in Portland right after the first mission. Achievements don't require doing them in the same save file. For example, I've collected all achievements for GTA 3 and I did some of them by reloading the same save file again and again.

Yea it’s tough with the Mafia being hostile but doable since they don’t have to be done all at once…. Next time do the side activities before they turn hostile. Do your taxi missions in Staunton Island as it takes too long getting around shoreside with the road layout. 
 

don’t fool with paramedic on Portland at this point… do it on Staunton…. I like to do those first thing as Portland is usually the easiest for me. You can start a new save as mentioned but might as well do it on this one if you want the 100% achievement as well . 
 

Stick with it, after you beat the final mission the Rhino tank is available and you can do vigilante with it although it’s slow.
